Overall a very enjoyable read but very convoluted from time to time and the ending is just lame。 The monster is revealed and dies a few pages later。 Also， Lucius Malfoy should be in Azkaban for everything he did in this book alone， jeez。

Harry Potter and the Chamber of Secrets is the second installment of the series， as such the book is still （very much） oriented towards middle grade readers。 Naturally， to some readers this might cause to the book to feel a bit bland。 The Chamber of Secrets has less wonder and discovery， as the Wizarding World itself had been introduced in the previous book。 On the other side of the coin， the book is now able to focus more on the characters。 There are a lot of “recall paragraphs”， wherein Rowlin Harry Potter and the Chamber of Secrets is the second installment of the series， as such the book is still （very much） oriented towards middle grade readers。 Naturally， to some readers this might cause to the book to feel a bit bland。 The Chamber of Secrets has less wonder and discovery， as the Wizarding World itself had been introduced in the previous book。 On the other side of the coin， the book is now able to focus more on the characters。 There are a lot of “recall paragraphs”， wherein Rowling remind readers of characters and aspects of the universe introduced in the previous book。 Again， this is understandable as the target demographic is well。。。middle graders。 Admittedly it annoys me a bit。 Conclusively， Chamber of Secrets is not at all a bad book， just more of the same from the Philosopher’s Stone。 。。。more

I am continuing to find that the Harry Potter works are extremely well written and enjoyable stories， but I am not yet finding reason to be as utterly obsessed with them as much of the rest of the world seems to be。 The lasting thought at the end of this book for me was， all of this could have been avoided if you had just told a trusted adult when strange things started happening。 （view spoiler）[This was particularly true for me when Dumbledore directly asked Harry if he had anything to tell him I am continuing to find that the Harry Potter works are extremely well written and enjoyable stories， but I am not yet finding reason to be as utterly obsessed with them as much of the rest of the world seems to be。 The lasting thought at the end of this book for me was， all of this could have been avoided if you had just told a trusted adult when strange things started happening。 （view spoiler）[This was particularly true for me when Dumbledore directly asked Harry if he had anything to tell him， and Harry just said no。 Tell Dumbledore！ （hide spoiler）] I realize this is the trope in a lot of children's and young adult books， and there wouldn't have been a book without it， but I personally find that frustrating。 I also really found the unpleasantness in the book to be unpleasant， such as the overall existence of the Dursley family and Professor Lockhart。 My favorite aspects are the friendship between Harry， Ron， and Hermione and particularly the humor that comes through Ron。 。。。more
