Cats, magical portals, and snacks, oh my!

One day when their human leaves for work, Squash and Ginny find themselves in the most unfortunate predicament: without snacks。 With a little help from a magical portal, the two cats embark on a quest to find ingredients for a potion that will produce unlimited goodies。

At first, their mission doesn’t seem so tough。 It takes them on a boat race across Mewmaid Ocean and a hot air balloon ride over Mount Lava。 But when the cats reach the Enchanted Rain Forest to gather enchanted rainwater, the last item on their list, their mission runs dry。 。 。 It turns out it hasn’t rained in the Enchanted Rain Forest in weeks! What a cat-astrophe!

Can Squash and Ginny get to the bottom of what’s causing this dry spell and secure the final ingredient they need? Or have Squash and Ginny taken their last bite 。 。 。 for good? This chapter book graphic novel debut from Susie Yi is perfect for fans of Catstronauts, Babymouse, and Catwad!

I received an ARC of this title from NetGalley in exchange for an honest review。 All opinions are my own and were not affected by the free copy。Ginny and Squash are two super cute, very hungry kittens。 After their humans leave, they eat all of their snacks。 Luckily, they are magical kitties, so they go off on a quest to get the ingredients needed to make an unlimited snack potion。 Children will absolutely love this adorable graphic novel。 The cats are too cute, goofy, and are living the dream li I received an ARC of this title from NetGalley in exchange for an honest review。 All opinions are my own and were not affected by the free copy。Ginny and Squash are two super cute, very hungry kittens。 After their humans leave, they eat all of their snacks。 Luckily, they are magical kitties, so they go off on a quest to get the ingredients needed to make an unlimited snack potion。 Children will absolutely love this adorable graphic novel。 The cats are too cute, goofy, and are living the dream life (magic AND unlimited snacks? Yes, please!) I will definitely be recommending this graphic novel to new readers。 。。。more

A fun and very sweet book for early readers。 Ginny and Squash go on magical adventures through magical portals, meet new friends, and eat lots of snacks。 A super cute book with adorable illustrations。 I'll be recommending this one often to kiddos around 6-8 (and their parents/caregivers)。 A fun and very sweet book for early readers。 Ginny and Squash go on magical adventures through magical portals, meet new friends, and eat lots of snacks。 A super cute book with adorable illustrations。 I'll be recommending this one often to kiddos around 6-8 (and their parents/caregivers)。 。。。more

Susie Yi’s The Quest For Snacks is an adorably cute graphic novel。 Early readers will love that this book has chapters, adventure, and cuddly characters who help each other on their quests and form friendships along the way。 Kids will not only beg for the next installment in the series, but will also fill pages and pages drawing its two main characters, Squash and Ginny。 This will be a welcome addition to any library or elementary classroom collection。Thanks to NetGalley for the eARC to review。

Thanks to NetGalley and HarperAlley / HarperCollins Children’s Books for the digital galley of this book。The publisher’s summary for this one is perfect, so I’m not going to change it。 “One day when their human leaves for work, Squash and Ginny find themselves in the most unfortunate predicament: without snacks。 With a little help from a magical portal, the two cats embark on a quest to find ingredients for a potion that will produce unlimited goodies。At first, their mission doesn’t seem so toug Thanks to NetGalley and HarperAlley / HarperCollins Children’s Books for the digital galley of this book。The publisher’s summary for this one is perfect, so I’m not going to change it。 “One day when their human leaves for work, Squash and Ginny find themselves in the most unfortunate predicament: without snacks。 With a little help from a magical portal, the two cats embark on a quest to find ingredients for a potion that will produce unlimited goodies。At first, their mission doesn’t seem so tough。 It takes them on a boat race across Mewmaid Ocean and a hot air balloon ride over Mount Lava。 But when the cats reach the Enchanted Rain Forest to gather enchanted rainwater, the last item on their list, their mission runs dry。 。 。 It turns out it hasn’t rained in the Enchanted Rain Forest in weeks! Ok, this was cute and sweet。 It’s meant for fairly little kids。 There’s only a couple sentences a page and they are simply written。 The story is a straightforward little quest of a pair of kitty friends going to gather items on a magic quest。 In the end they make a sacrifice for someone that needs the help。 It’s wholesome and could either be read to someone too young to read or given to a new reader without worry on the content。 (Unless a parent is bothered by even the most innocuous and innocen Ok, this was cute and sweet。 It’s meant for fairly little kids。 There’s only a couple sentences a page and they are simply written。 The story is a straightforward little quest of a pair of kitty friends going to gather items on a magic quest。 In the end they make a sacrifice for someone that needs the help。 It’s wholesome and could either be read to someone too young to read or given to a new reader without worry on the content。 (Unless a parent is bothered by even the most innocuous and innocent use of fantasy in a storybook。)If you’re reading it to a kid you won’t hate it on the first go through but you might on the tenth pass or so。 。。。more

I loved all the characters that they met along the way and how they learned to work as a team。 I too would like unlimited snacks so I was very invested in this story。 I loved the art style and they story flowed perfectly。 not too fast or too slow。

Oh goodness this is the perfect book for very early emerging readers who want to read chapter books, but maybe are not ready for them yet。 Just so cute。 Love the cat's adventures and how they learn how to help solve problems to get what they need for their endless snack spell。 I also love how much this book promotes teamwork, and highlights each of the cats different abilities。 Just because friends are not the same doesn't mean that they can not work together and make an amazing team。 Absolutely Oh goodness this is the perfect book for very early emerging readers who want to read chapter books, but maybe are not ready for them yet。 Just so cute。 Love the cat's adventures and how they learn how to help solve problems to get what they need for their endless snack spell。 I also love how much this book promotes teamwork, and highlights each of the cats different abilities。 Just because friends are not the same doesn't mean that they can not work together and make an amazing team。 Absolutely perfect for kids。 I will definitely add this to my recommendation list when parents ask for a recommendation。 Thank you so much to NetGalley and HarperCollins Children's Books for allowing me to read an advance copy。 。。。more

This book is freaking adorable! I read it with my six year old and she cannot wait for the next book! The illustrations are incredibly cute, the dialogue between characters is energetic and interesting, and the storyline was fun and easy to follow!I especially loved how there was a little lesson about friendship and putting others first while also taking time to consider your own needs。 There’s no villain or negativity to be found, which was pleasantly surprising。We will definitely be purchasing This book is freaking adorable!
