Summary

She knew her hand in marriage would be sold。 She had no idea a fae prince was the buyer。

Katria swore she'd never fall in love。 She's seen what "love" means through the cruelty of her family。 So when she's married off to the mysterious Lord Fenwood for a handsome price, all Katria wants is a better life than the one she's leaving。 Feelings are off the table。

But her new husband makes not falling in love difficult。

As their attraction begins to grow, so too do the oddities within her new life: strange rules, screams in the night, and attacks by fae that Katria never thought were real。 When she witnesses a ritual not meant for human eyes, Katria finds herself spirited away to the land of Midscape。

Surviving the fae wilds as a human is hard enough。 Katria must survive as a human who accidently pilfered the magic of ancient kings - magic a bloodthirsty king is ready to kill her for in order to keep his stolen throne - and her new husband is the rightful heir in hiding。

The power to save the fae is in her hands。 But who will save her from a love she vowed never to feel?

A Dance with the Fae Prince is a complete, stand-alone novel, inspired by the tales of Psyche and Eros, as well as Cinderella, with a "happily ever after" ending。 It's perfect for fantasy romance fans looking for just the right amount of steam and their next slow-burn and swoon-worthy couple。

Okay, but where can I get my own Davien? Seriously。 I LOVED this and was so excited for this book to be released。 I loved a Deal with the Elf King, but found that this story was stronger and the world-building made it even more magical。 However, I did find the pacing in the second half to be a bit off。 Because of this, my rating is 4。5/5。 Overall, I adored this Cinderella retelling with a Tangled and Beauty & the Beast twist!

This installment of the series didn't quite enchant me as much as the first book, but it was a satisfying read nonetheless。I never fully clicked with Katria during my read。 I wish she'd shown some spine earlier in the book, but she did eventually get some character development。 I don't dislike her by any means。 Davien is a totally serviceable love interest。 His warmer personality is a nice change from the love interest of the first book。 However, I felt their romance together was lacking。 I wish This installment of the series didn't quite enchant me as much as the first book, but it was a satisfying read nonetheless。I never fully clicked with Katria during my read。 I wish she'd shown some spine earlier in the book, but she did eventually get some character development。 I don't dislike her by any means。 Davien is a totally serviceable love interest。 His warmer personality is a nice change from the love interest of the first book。 However, I felt their romance together was lacking。 I wish we had seen more interactions between them before they fell in love。 It felt kinda' sudden and, dare I say it, instalove-y。 The plot itself was linear。 There aren't any twists or turns that will surprise readers, but I appreciate that the author gave hints--however obvious they were--throughout the book。 Nothing came out of left field。 I did also find Katria's storyline with her family to be unsatisfying。 I'm glad there was a confrontation, but I was just hoping for something more。I really am enjoying the world that Kova has created with this series。 The separation between Midscape and the Natural World and the magical races with their different magic I find to be both interesting and fun。 Additionally, I again can't deny that this book delivered what it said it would。 Another stand-alone magical romance with inspiration drawn from classic myths and a HEA。 Overall, I'm excited to return to the world with the third book of the series。 Here's to hoping that one tickles my fancy more。 。。。more

I wanted to like this book but I just couldn’t get into it。 The characters lacked a true connection。 I’m not a fan of fairytale retellings but I figured I’d give this one a try。 That aspect was of the book wasn’t bad but it didn’t match the description either。

I have been waiting for this book since the moment I finished reading A Deal With The Elf King。 I love this Married To Magic world。I always loved stories inspired by fairytales and Cinderella was my favorite one, as a little girl。 So, of course, I was excited about Katria's and Davien's story。 But, if Cinderella's story ends with marriage, in A Dance With The Fae Prince, Katria's story begins with marriage。 And it's a story filled with adventures。 She's dragged in the fae world and, although tha I have been waiting for this book since the moment I finished reading A Deal With The Elf King。 I love this Married To Magic world。I always loved stories inspired by fairytales and Cinderella was my favorite one, as a little girl。 So, of course, I was excited about Katria's and Davien's story。 But, if Cinderella's story ends with marriage, in A Dance With The Fae Prince, Katria's story begins with marriage。 And it's a story filled with adventures。 She's dragged in the fae world and, although that's no place for a human to be, for the first time she feels like she belongs in a place。Davien is believed to be the last person connected to the true royal family, the Aviness family。 And, therefore, the only one with the right to claim the throne from the cruel king Boltov。 After Katria, unwillingly, steals the power that was meant to make Davien stronger, she is determined to give it back to him and help him achieve his goal。 This thrusts them together on a path filled with adventures and dangers。 All these things bring them closer and feelings start brewing。 But Katria doesn't believe that love is the magical thing Davien seems to believe it is。 So it's his purpose to convince her otherwise。Now, I can't wait for the next book。A Duel With The Vampire Lord sounds so, so promising。There's also a bonus chapter on Elise's site, where we get to meet Eldas and Louella again and their precious Aruna。And since it's mentioned that there are 5 kingdoms in this magical world, elf, fae, vampir, mer and lykin, I believe we can expect at least 5 books in the Married To Magic world。 Yaaaaaaaaay! 。。。more

I have mixed feelings about this one。 I really enjoyed A Deal with the Elf King, as that book clearly delivered on everything I was expecting from it。 So, I was excited for A Dance with the Fae Prince - I was eager to return to Midscape and learn more about the world。 And in a way, this Book did deliver on what I wanted from it。 It had a sweet romance, the kind of ending the Married to Magic series promises it’s readers, and a young heroine trying to find her place。 But this time around, there w I have mixed feelings about this one。 I really enjoyed A Deal with the Elf King, as that book clearly delivered on everything I was expecting from it。 So, I was excited for A Dance with the Fae Prince - I was eager to return to Midscape and learn more about the world。 And in a way, this Book did deliver on what I wanted from it。 It had a sweet romance, the kind of ending the Married to Magic series promises it’s readers, and a young heroine trying to find her place。 But this time around, there were just some things that didn’t add up for me at all。 The main character seemed kind of flat, the portrayed abuse was overcome a bit too easily (and I am very involved with recovery programs, so I have at least a little bit of a perspective on this although I would never assume to know better than anyone who has survived this), and the Love interest sometimes acted very shakily。 The big plot twist at the end wasn’t much of a twist either, as I had anticipated that very thing for about a 150 pages。 This may sound like I have a lot to complain about, but at the same time, none of that was truly bad and there were plenty of good things in this book too。 Ultimately, it delivered on my expectation of being an easy, somewhat swoon-worthy happily-ever-after story - so the book was good and successful。 I just feel like it could have done this job a bit better by improving on some of the things above - much like her previous book in this series did for me。 I would definitely recommend this to anyone though who is in the market for a swoon-worthy, feel-good Story with some harder topics, and for anyone who enjoyed the previous installment。 。。。more

Well, this was an improvement from A Deal with the Elf King, but not by much。 I think I've exhausted my interest in this series :/Our heroine, Katria, is rather one-dimensional and lacks the emotional depth that would make her engaging。 She doesn't show any substantial emotional growth until the very end of the book, and at that point, it just felt rushed and messy。Our love interest, Davien, is equally emotionally stunted。 Of course, they are madly in love by the end of the story, all with the h Well, this was an improvement from A Deal with the Elf King, but not by much。 I think I've exhausted my interest in this series :/Our heroine, Katria, is rather one-dimensional and lacks the emotional depth that would make her engaging。 She doesn't show any substantial emotional growth until the very end of the book, and at that point, it just felt rushed and messy。Our love interest, Davien, is equally emotionally stunted。 Of course, they are madly in love by the end of the story, all with the help of a few fireside chats and some tense conversation。 It felt very much insta-love, which is strange considering that Katria has supposedly sworn off love。 I could forgive that sin if their chemistry were believable, but alas, it was not。 They felt like semi-awkward acquaintances at best。Overall, the relationships were extremely flimsy。 Katria makes friends that she considers family by the end of the book, and I saw no reason for her to feel close to them at all! The only one that felt even vaguely genuine was her relationship with Raph, and he's a child!!! I understand that writing is difficult, but couldn't we have an additional fifty pages for more development? Please?I haven't even touched on the plot, but let me leave it at this: the twists were nonexistent (I had guessed each one age before they were "revealed") and, the pacing was the strangest mix between too slow and too rushed。Based on my review, you may be surprised that I've rated this book three stars, but I think it's a fair rating based simply on how much I enjoyed the book。 Was it great? No。 But did I have at least a bit of fun reading it? Yes! I needed something light and quick to lift my mood, and this worked well enough。 I wouldn't go around recommending it to anyone, but I don't think it's unworthy of a read。 。。。more

3。5 stars。 Not true to Fae lore and other issuesI like the first book in this series better。 It stayed more true to Elf lore。 This 2nd book in the series was pretty good but with some notable exceptions that kept me from truly enjoying it or embracing it and keep me from losing myself totally in the story。 Without revealing spoilers they are:- In the 1st half of the book the writing sometimes jarred me out of the story。 I don’t know if I can quite put it into words but the dialogue and interacti 3。5 stars。 Not true to Fae lore and other issuesI like the first book in this series better。 It stayed more true to Elf lore。 This 2nd book in the series was pretty good but with some notable exceptions that kept me from truly enjoying it or embracing it and keep me from losing myself totally in the story。 Without revealing spoilers they are:- In the 1st half of the book the writing sometimes jarred me out of the story。 I don’t know if I can quite put it into words but the dialogue and interactions and development of the MCs relationship is a little off, not totally natural or flowing。 - I am trying not to reveal any spoilers so I have to be vague。 The major plot twist you can see coming from the first 1/4 of the book。 Although the way she reveals it officially is okay per se, it is not at all what I feel like was the best choice and was quite anticlimactic, and A LOT more could/should have been done with the h’s involvement in that。 It was very weak and I kept anticipating a big, powerful reveal especially during the climax of the story and just ended up with blah。 - The Fae characters never struck me as Fae at all。 She didn’t stay true to Fae lore—like excessively tricky, capricious, slippery and devious。 There was only a few weak allusions to those characteristics and they didn’t really work。 (For example a young Fae boy is chastised by his parents for trying to trick the h。) In fact the author kept using the term “man” or other similar terms when referring to Fae characters which although seemingly minor was really jarring。 Fae are not human and depart from them in character and culture in important ways。 If you’re not going to stick to those characteristics then perhaps make up a new race and embue whatever traits you wish on them。 The Fae hero prince has absolutely ZERO Fae characteristics。 He is trustworthy, steady, upfront, and devoted, etc。 and has not a capricious bone in his body。 I actually liked his character in and of itself, but could not square it with being Fae let alone their Prince。Originality for this genre: 2。5。 This is a tough one to score because it was original in that it didn’t follow Fae lore, but I’m not sure that was a positive thing。 Pace: 3。 The middle seemed to drag especially cause this plot twist hints were being dropped but no development was happening on that front。 Sorry I’m trying to be vague to not spoil。 Character development: 3 (see also above comment)。 I felt like a lot more could’ve been done with the h and her role in the story and climax。 Relationship development: 4HFN or HEA? Yes。 Steam level: 3。5Explanation of ratings:3 (very passionate making and/or under clothing action; and/or behind close doors sexual acts)4 (minimally or moderately described on screen sexual acts)- I gave it an in between rating because although the sex takes place on screen it is veiled in very symbolic or vague language so it’s not explicit and it’s not detailed。 It’s actually very creative and well done striking a beautiful balance。 Cursing: noneMin。 age recommended: 171。 Are the character's developed in a way that makes me care about them? Yes。 2。 Did the dialogue flow or was it choppy/unnatural? -- Some choppy, unnatural or stilted dialogue between MCs that was somewhat distracting。 3。 Was the writing level above average, average, awkward/stilted, or amateur? - Most of the book was above average, except where noted above。 4。 Were the events believable? Were you able to suspend disbelief?- the events were predictable, but believable for a fantasy。 All except the characterizations of the Fae。5。 Did any of the characters do anything that made you cringe in a "real people are not this dumb" way? - Not exactly。 I have previously said what annoyed me about the role the h played。 6。 Is there anything you wish would have been different (without spoiling the story)? - YES as i mentioned several times already I wanted the h to discover herself more during the story and play a more powerful role in the story and and particularly the climax。 - the climax and ending weren’t as exciting as they could have been because of the issues discussed previously。7。 Anything notable? 8。 What do you mean by your star rating? - 3。5 stars。 - 4 stars for me means I enjoyed it; but it wasn’t a home run and/or some depth or aspect was missing or not quite right。 - 3 stars for me means it was okay, I finished it。 My experience because of the issues discussed above was mixed。 。。。more

This book's flaws were the exact opposite of the first one's, in that the ending was strong and saved a story that started pretty weak。 Namely with a pretty unlikable love interest, a VERY evident plot twist and, worst sin of all in a romance novel, a bad case of instantaneous love。Again, a good illustration of the disproportionate importance of endings, because despite all that I almost gave this 4 stars, just because it left me on such a strong note。So everything good I said about the first bo This book's flaws were the exact opposite of the first one's, in that the ending was strong and saved a story that started pretty weak。 Namely with a pretty unlikable love interest, a VERY evident plot twist and, worst sin of all in a romance novel, a bad case of instantaneous love。Again, a good illustration of the disproportionate importance of endings, because despite all that I almost gave this 4 stars, just because it left me on such a strong note。So everything good I said about the first book still holds, and since I literally just wrote the review for it, I'm just going to link back to it: see A Deal with the Elf King。Contrary to what happened in the first book, here the ending was so powerful because it came up organically from the gradual and very satisfactory evolution of the heroine。 It was meaningful and natural and made all the more striking by good writing。Unfortunately, the problems I listed above are not benign。 Some more explanations about those:Pretty unlikable love interest: he gets better but, man, I hated him at first。 He was so annoying to start with that for a good part of the story, every time another character called him "my king" I thought it was in a snarky way, to mock him。VERY evident plot twist: seriously, if you didn't know exactly what the final plot twist was gonna be by the end of chapter one, it's that you were not paying any attention whatsoever。 Really。Bad case of instantaneous love: the whole premise is that they start to develop feelings for each other before the disruptive event that sets the rest of the story into motion happens。 Since they barely get a couple dialogues in before that, it definitely didn't make a strong case for their relationship。 Now, if you manage to just suspend disbelief and accept that somehow they had developed actual feelings, then after that the evolution of their relationship is pretty nice。。。 still a big ask to make from your readers when writing a romance novel!(Bonus complaint) failed attempt at portraying psychological consequences from abuse: the general message about the fact that coming to term with it can only come from oneself and the sweet case for self-love that this story makes are all pretty well worded and demonstrated。 The problem arises when it comes to show the effects of past abuse on the heroine's personality。 It stays very superficial。 She thinks about it when faced with something reminding her directly of said abuse, but her general behavior and personality traits are pretty much unaffected the rest of the time。 You'd expect way more deeply rooted issues, and you get none of that。 The ending was still very meaningful, but again, some suspension of disbelief was needed beforehand to buy her as a victim of her family's sustained abuse。 。。。more
