Summary

The Curious Incident of the Dog in the Night-Time is a murder mystery novel like no other。 The detective, and narrator, is Christopher Boone。 Christopher is fifteen and has Asperger's Syndrome。 He knows a very great deal about maths and very little about human beings。 He loves lists, patterns and the truth。 He hates the colours yellow and brown and being touched。 He has never gone further than the end of the road on his own, but when he finds a neighbour's dog murdered he sets out on a terrifying journey which will turn his whole world upside down。

I liked this book and really wanted to love it。 Endearingly written。 Loved being inside the mind of an autistic teen。 Quick ending。 Decent on audio。

Fairly outdated view on autism spectrum disorder, but I was a little lenient on it given the year it was published。 I’m not sure if this is what the author intended, but I saw the book as a young teenager with autism living in a world where the majority don’t even try to understand you or think twice about why you think or react a certain way (i。e。 Christopher’s aversion to physical touch)。 Everyone seemed to view Christopher as a burden rather than the child he was, especially his own mother wh Fairly outdated view on autism spectrum disorder, but I was a little lenient on it given the year it was published。 I’m not sure if this is what the author intended, but I saw the book as a young teenager with autism living in a world where the majority don’t even try to understand you or think twice about why you think or react a certain way (i。e。 Christopher’s aversion to physical touch)。 Everyone seemed to view Christopher as a burden rather than the child he was, especially his own mother which was pretty sad。 。。。more

Excellent book written in an unusual way from a different and important perspective。 I'd have given it 5 stars except the story was a little upsetting。 Excellent book written in an unusual way from a different and important perspective。 I'd have given it 5 stars except the story was a little upsetting。 。。。more

This was a strange book。 Parts of it were captivating and I wanted to see what was going to happen, but other parts completely lost me。 I understood the symbolism of the story and the underlying theme the author was trying to convey, but they easily got lost between the run on sentences and choppy thoughts。 It was an easy read, but I wouldn’t recommend it。

There was a lot of good in this book but I wonder how people with Aspergers feel about it。 The immersion into life with Aspergers seems accurate。 The author does well bringing in the plot and the other characters feelings even though the protagonist is self-isolated。 The plot is pretty good。 The twist comes early so that you then dive into an internal conflict and see Christopher overcome obstacles on his own。 Can’t say there was a ton of growth through the experience but at least he gained some There was a lot of good in this book but I wonder how people with Aspergers feel about it。 The immersion into life with Aspergers seems accurate。 The author does well bringing in the plot and the other characters feelings even though the protagonist is self-isolated。 The plot is pretty good。 The twist comes early so that you then dive into an internal conflict and see Christopher overcome obstacles on his own。 Can’t say there was a ton of growth through the experience but at least he gained some confidence。 。。。more

"when you have met a person with autism, you have met one person with autism"Maybe it's because I have a different experience of autism in comparison to the standard person but this book, sucked。 I find it paints autism in such a steriotypical way。 We need books which open the public eye to disability, because knowledge will erase the fear of the unknown。 We are scared because we don't know。 So, we need to educate。 This book makes it seem like people with autism are all anti-social people who ha "when you have met a person with autism, you have met one person with autism"Maybe it's because I have a different experience of autism in comparison to the standard person but this book, sucked。 I find it paints autism in such a steriotypical way。 We need books which open the public eye to disability, because knowledge will erase the fear of the unknown。 We are scared because we don't know。 So, we need to educate。 This book makes it seem like people with autism are all anti-social people who have obsessions and don't fit into society at all。 Books should be breaking down negative and hurtful stereotypes not enforceing them。 Every single individual is different。 My sister, autistic, she was admired for her openness, she used to talk and talk about everything and anything (a lot about frogs) but she was the definition of social。 She now needs 24h supervision because she has the mental age of a 1 year old but my brother also autistic, he may not talk all day some days but not stop other days。 He takes the train to school everyday and goes out to see his friends and if he doesn't tell you, you can't really tell he is autistic。 Not everyone with autism fits in the narrow, stereotypical box painted in this book。 Appart from this book being a complete miss regarding disabled representation, there is no storyline or character development。 The general story is a bore and it feels like a waste of time once you reach the end。Want a mystery? read an Agatha Christie and a book with better representation of the disabled community read: Le silence de Mélodie。 This is a poor job of trying to combine the two and is not worth the read。 。。。more

this is a book that i read around 12-15 (i forgot but i remember reading it when i was still pretty young) and it completely opened my eyes to a new world/genre of writing。 i discovered that writing could convey so much though the form seemed so simple。 this book just resonated w me a lot and i reread it many times (i still have it on my shelf somewhere i might reread it these days as a 17 year old and see what i think。 its been a long time since i visited it。) and also now looking back i realis this is a book that i read around 12-15 (i forgot but i remember reading it when i was still pretty young) and it completely opened my eyes to a new world/genre of writing。 i discovered that writing could convey so much though the form seemed so simple。 this book just resonated w me a lot and i reread it many times (i still have it on my shelf somewhere i might reread it these days as a 17 year old and see what i think。 its been a long time since i visited it。) and also now looking back i realised i was autistic。 。。。more

This mystery story is narrated by an autistic teenager, which at times feels fresh and at others feels like a drag of boring details。 The plot is engaging, but some of the characters and their actions, especially the main character's, feel inauthentic。 This mystery story is narrated by an autistic teenager, which at times feels fresh and at others feels like a drag of boring details。 The plot is engaging, but some of the characters and their actions, especially the main character's, feel inauthentic。 。。。more

Nice to see the protagonist have adventures and succeed at his goals。 Depressing to see the drama and pain surrounding him。

I found this book kind of slow and a bit pointless。 I get that the narrator is on the autism spectrum, and I found the way the author voiced the character to be interesting, but that was about it。 The plot dragged, and everyone

This is an amazing book。 I was reading it with the hopes of reading it with my children, but I will definitely wait a few more years to introduce them to this title。
