This book helped me to pray more specifically for my children, but I had to be careful not to just read the prayers like a formula to save them from harm。 I ended up using the intro, categories, and verses to set my mind on that topic and claim the promises of God for those children。 With this strategy the verses and categories were especially helpful。

Beautiful prayers!

There was a lot of great points made & a lot of different things and ways to pray for your children that you may not immediately think of。 It has a prayer at the end of each chapter to kind of guide you & start you off with how to pray about that specific thing。 Guided by a lot of scriptures, I think it’s a great resource for parents wanting to pray for their children, but a little lost on how to best pray, or just want a helping hand, or to try some new stuff。 Would definitely recommend!

Update to my prior thoughts, the last chapter was certainly the best。 A good read but I wouldn't reread it myself。 Many of the prayer points could be found in an article。 Update to my prior thoughts, the last chapter was certainly the best。 A good read but I wouldn't reread it myself。 Many of the prayer points could be found in an article。 。。。more

So very good。 I love that is I don’t know how to pray for my child, I can pray any of the many end of chapter prayers, inserting her name throughout the prayer。 I love all the scripture throughout。 I read this each day while waiting for her to get out of school。 I would choose one of the verses at the end of the chapters and send it to her phone as she came out of school。

This is a wonderful book of prayers for all parents of different age。 There is no “too late” to start praying for your children。 Helps me with my prayers and also the relevant scripture verses to help direct my wondering thoughts。

There were many things brought up that I had never thought to pray for my children about。 However, there were also things in the book that I don't think were correct。 Praying in your child's room isn't going to be the sole reason why their attitude changes, as one of the chapter suggests。 I just had too many issues with what was written。 There were many things brought up that I had never thought to pray for my children about。 However, there were also things in the book that I don't think were correct。 Praying in your child's room isn't going to be the sole reason why their attitude changes, as one of the chapter suggests。 I just had too many issues with what was written。 。。。more

Aunque aun no soy padre me gusto mucho el libro ya que presenta la importancia de orar por los hijos en cada etapa de sus vidas。

Loved the scripture and the prayers, but the author has some pretty strong opinions that are based on opinion more than facts。

This is an incredible book of faith and an even better Resource。 It is encouraging spiritually, but the format also makes it easy to go back and look up scripture that applies to a topic。 I have read all her books and each one is very helpful as a parent and wife。

Stormie Omartian must be commended for this brilliant, powerful book。 I read twice, from the back to the front then chapter reading and I still find it timeless!Prayers are the only way to keep our children safe。 When we leave everything in God's Hands, we will see God's Hands in everything we do。 I am a living testimony of what she stated in her book 。 My mother was a prayerful woman who raised me single - handedly。 Her never - ending prayers made me who I am today。 Stormie Omartian must be commended for this brilliant, powerful book。 I read twice, from the back to the front then chapter reading and I still find it timeless!Prayers are the only way to keep our children safe。 When we leave everything in God's Hands, we will see God's Hands in everything we do。 I am a living testimony of what she stated in her book 。 My mother was a prayerful woman who raised me single - handedly。 Her never - ending prayers made me who I am today。 。。。more

I agree with other readers that if I were only rating the prayers I'd give it a 5。 However, I do not agree with all of her theology displayed in the text before the prayers。 I will definitely continue to pray these prayers over my children years to come。 I agree with other readers that if I were only rating the prayers I'd give it a 5。 However, I do not agree with all of her theology displayed in the text before the prayers。 I will definitely continue to pray these prayers over my children years to come。 。。。more

This book is better savored, reading one chapter or passage a day and focusing on that chapter's prayer for your child's life。 Full of encouragement and grace for the parent while encouraging them to step up their prayer life for their children。 The world would be a much different place if every parent became a praying one。 This book is better savored, reading one chapter or passage a day and focusing on that chapter's prayer for your child's life。 Full of encouragement and grace for the parent while encouraging them to step up their prayer life for their children。 The world would be a much different place if every parent became a praying one。 。。。more

This has lots of great prayers for your children and I like that it touches on topics that may not have even occurred to me。 I also like how she used scripture in her prayers。 However, this just wasn’t a book that I finished where I felt really excited。 It also reminded me of her other book I read, the Power of a Praying Wife。

This book is insidious。 I found this at my mother's house--a book given to her by a sibling--and read it out of curiosity。 I couldn't put it down。。。 not because it was insightful or a great read。。。 but out of sheer horror。 The messaging in this book is so outdated and divisive。 It includes explicit prayers to pray that your child "does not become/engage in homosexuality"。 It likens sexually transmitted infections and diseases to that of eternal hell。 Where in reality, anyone can be born with OR This book is insidious。 I found this at my mother's house--a book given to her by a sibling--and read it out of curiosity。 I couldn't put it down。。。 not because it was insightful or a great read。。。 but out of sheer horror。 The messaging in this book is so outdated and divisive。 It includes explicit prayers to pray that your child "does not become/engage in homosexuality"。 It likens sexually transmitted infections and diseases to that of eternal hell。 Where in reality, anyone can be born with OR get an STD without having sexual intercourse。 This book preaches AGAINST children, teenagers, and emerging adults having bodily autonomy and encourages the parent to pray that their child stay pure。 If you are looking for a close-minded, morally repugnant book with hateful rhetoric, then look no further than to Stormie Omartian's The Power of a Praying Parent。 This book is for you。 *eye roll* 。。。more

The concept of this book is excellent。 Each chapter guides you to pray for a different aspect of your child(ren)'s life, such as their health, their friends, their relationship with God, their attitudes, and much more。 The prayers themselves where well developed and even as a person who prefers to communicate with God through my own words as opposed to using someone else's, I found them a good starting spot。 With 30 prayers this book is helpful in developing a habit of praying for your children。 The concept of this book is excellent。 Each chapter guides you to pray for a different aspect of your child(ren)'s life, such as their health, their friends, their relationship with God, their attitudes, and much more。 The prayers themselves where well developed and even as a person who prefers to communicate with God through my own words as opposed to using someone else's, I found them a good starting spot。 With 30 prayers this book is helpful in developing a habit of praying for your children。With the positive said, I do have several problems with this book。 My main problem is that I found some of her commentary on mental health antiquated。 Several times throughout the book she presents the idea that if we just pray hard enough and hedge our hearts and homes enough we and our kids won't suffer from depression, low self-esteem, etc。 While I believe in the power of prayer and that a secure, godly home can remove some of the footholds for depression and other mental illnesses, it is not a fail-safe。 Mental illness is a complicated subject and can be controversial in places of faith。 While Omartian has some experience with this, she does not present a balanced view。Prayer is important and can make a huge difference in the lives of us and our children。 Yet we must also know, that when trouble does come, it is not a direct measurement of our faith。 We can't fall into the trap of believing that we somehow could have stopped the tragedy if we had just prayed harder or had more faith。 There isn't a direct relationship between faith and suffering。 If anything, some of the most faithful have also suffered the most。 In many ways, I feel this book tried to simplify things in a way that can unfortunately do more harm than good。I would never want to discourage someone from praying for their children。 Again, I think the structure and overall concept of this book are well done。 I would recommend for those who are firmer in their faith。 。。。more

I highly recommend this book for parents。 It's one thing to sit down and pray for your children every day, but it's so hard to know what exactly to pray about。 I know I end up saying the same few things over and over again。 This book lays out 30 simple prayers and verses to pray over your children that cover a variety of topics。 I'll be referring to it again in the future for sure。 I didn't agree with all of the things she said, but they were just personal preferences, nothing theological, so I I highly recommend this book for parents。 It's one thing to sit down and pray for your children every day, but it's so hard to know what exactly to pray about。 I know I end up saying the same few things over and over again。 This book lays out 30 simple prayers and verses to pray over your children that cover a variety of topics。 I'll be referring to it again in the future for sure。 I didn't agree with all of the things she said, but they were just personal preferences, nothing theological, so I won't be docking a star for that。 。。。more

A helpful book in guiding parents on how to pray for their children。 It covers thirty topics with prayers and related bible verses for guidance。 There’s also a section about praying for adult children and one for creating a prayer group to pray together for children。 I found it useful for realizing what to pray for concerning my children。 I appreciated the prayers。 I will be referencing this book in the future。

Loved it! Read it from the library, ended up buying a copy so I can say the prayers several times。 Short chapters and end with a prayer, then bible verses pertaining。

Maybe it’s me。 Maybe I lack faith。 I just don’t believe that everything is going to turn out perfectly if I just pray the “right” way。 I’m sure that wasn’t the intent of this book。 And there are many good takeaways in this book。。。Reminders that I cannot fight the battles for my children and that my part of the battle is to pray for them。 Praying to God for my children to have godly friends, delivering them from bad role models and comforting them in lost friendships。 Praying that they would love Maybe it’s me。 Maybe I lack faith。 I just don’t believe that everything is going to turn out perfectly if I just pray the “right” way。 I’m sure that wasn’t the intent of this book。 And there are many good takeaways in this book。。。Reminders that I cannot fight the battles for my children and that my part of the battle is to pray for them。 Praying to God for my children to have godly friends, delivering them from bad role models and comforting them in lost friendships。 Praying that they would love and seek God first and that they’d understand that God’s laws are for their benefit。 Praying that God would open their eyes to the truth of His Word and that my children would seek His approval over the world’s approval。 I confess that I am not a “prayer warrior”。 It’s just not my gift。 So books like this are very helpful to me。 But when I feel like I am being taught that things will turn out the way I want if I pray a certain way or with a group of people or a certain amount of hours, I bristle。 I know that sometimes God’s answer is no。 How do I know that? I have to look no further than Jesus in the Garden of Gethsemane。 。。。more
