My mom used to read this to me all the time growing up…I never got the hint。 LOL

Hmmm。 Second low rating this morning。。。is it the books or is it me? Did I get out of bed on the wrong side this morning? Apparently, since lots of others were generous with their stars and praise。 I have to admit, there can't be anything much cuter on this earth than 3 little elephants in their pajamas。 Hmmm。 Second low rating this morning。。。is it the books or is it me? Five Minutes Peace is a classic book and one I remember being read。 The story follows the Large family and in this story Mrs Large has decided she needs five minutes peace from the children and decides to go for a bath but the children have other ideas and are desperate to show her things。 The children enjoyed this story and liked seeing the talents Mrs Larges children liked to show their mother but could also see the funny side how she would never get her peace。 The characters in the story are Five Minutes Peace is a classic book and one I remember being read。 The story follows the Large family and in this story Mrs Large has decided she needs five minutes peace from the children and decides to go for a bath but the children have other ideas and are desperate to show her things。 The children enjoyed this story and liked seeing the talents Mrs Larges children liked to show their mother but could also see the funny side how she would never get her peace。 The characters in the story are very relatable and it helps show children that everyone needs some time to themselves sometimes even if they rarely get the opportunity。 The children like seeing the characters as elephants and the colourful pictures as it's different from other stories。 The pictures are great at showing the emotions the Large family are feeling and so it's nice for the children to be able to see how Mrs Large looks when she's relaxed, tired, etc。 This is a great book, we enjoy reading the stories of the Large family and it's nice to have such relatable characters。 。。。more

Reading this book as a mom was definitely a different experience than reading it before kids。 I certainly relate to Mrs。 Large MUCH more than I once did。 In fact, I think previously I may have been slightly condemning of her crossness。 No more!

3。5 starsPretty cute。 Poor Mrs。 Large, never able to really get her peace。 This is pretty relatable for any parent or child minder and can be fun to read with your child。

Sure, I mean, I totally bought this for my kid and not as a book that I could relate to as a parent and kinda really needed。From the sight of the breakfast table to the youngest kid jumping in to join mom in the bath in his pajamas, relatable fun for the whole family。 A classic。

All Mrs Large wants is 5 minutes to herself away from her 3 children。 However, whenever she gets the chance the children appear wanting to shows her things, or play, or see what she’s doing! The images are brights and appealing and the story is a narrative making it easy to follow。 This book uses speech marks as there is lots of speech so would be a good example to use with children to introduce what speech marks are。I particularly liked image of Mrs Large spreading butter on her toast as she ho All Mrs Large wants is 5 minutes to herself away from her 3 children。 However, whenever she gets the chance the children appear wanting to shows her things, or play, or see what she’s doing! a classic for me as I remember reading this one when I was a young girl, I always found Mrs Large funny and thought to myself why is she moaning all the time, now as a parent myself I completely understand where she is coming from! This brings a whole other perspective to the book。 My children love this one as well and this its funny when all the elephants get in the bath with mummy。 Children aged 1 and 2。

Another childhood favourite of mine。 It is simple but humorous and a great story to have in KS1 classrooms。

One from 'The Large Family' series, Jill Murphy writes a perfectly relatable picture book which can be used in an Early Years Setting。 The Large Family books were my absolute favourite in school for so many different reasons。 They targeted children being funny and engaging, whilst Murphy is clever in how she writes to target the parents as well。 Mrs Large tries tirelessly to escape her children for 'five minutes peace' and in the end manages to get '3 minutes 45 seconds'。 A clever balance of adu One from 'The Large Family' series, Jill Murphy writes a perfectly relatable picture book which can be used in an Early Years Setting。 The Large Family books were my absolute favourite in school for so many different reasons。 They targeted children being funny and engaging, whilst Murphy is clever in how she writes to target the parents as well。 Mrs Large tries tirelessly to escape her children for 'five minutes peace' and in the end manages to get '3 minutes 45 seconds'。 A clever balance of adult and child humour this book will make both parties giggle。 The illustrations are vivid and bright, filling the page so that the book can be used as a stand alone picture book。 The text and language in the story is simple for Nursery and Reception children to understand when being read to, whilst it could also be used for the beginning of Year 1 as an independent reading activity or introduction to speech and dialogue。 。。。more

Was a lovely little story of how a mum needs so alone time to here self with out having the children there, but surely enough the children want to spend all there time with her to show her everything they can do because they love her so much。 Just shows that from a child's point of view they might not understand that sometimes adults need so space and private time to there selves。 Good for a young and older children。 Was a lovely little story of how a mum needs so alone time to here self with out having the children there, but surely enough the children want to spend all there time with her to show her everything they can do because they love her so much。 Just shows that from a child's point of view they might not understand that sometimes adults need so space and private time to there selves。 Good for a young and older children。 。。。more

A story that both children but more importantly parents can enjoy。 I remember this being read to me as a child and my mum particularly enjoying it! It tells the tale of Mrs。 Large trying to find 5 minutes peace in her day but the children do their best to put a stop to it。 It's really humorous, entertaining and also a lovely picture book。 A story that both children but more importantly parents can enjoy。 I remember this being read to me as a child and my mum particularly enjoying it! Loved the beleaguered way Mrs。 Large is just like - I need some time to myself here! - even though she doesn't REALLY get it in the end。 But as a parent, this book was relatable content, and I only have one kid。 We've been reading a lot of UK children's books lately, and so this was our first foray into the Large Family series, but we'll definitely be reading more。 My 3 year old really liked this book, not sure if she could relate too or if she just loved the cute (but not cutesy) illustrations。 Loved the beleaguered way Mrs。 Large is just like - I need some time to myself here! - even though she doesn't REALLY get it in the end。 But as a parent, this book was relatable content, and I only have one kid。 We've been reading a lot of UK children's books lately, and so this was our first foray into the Large Family series, but we'll definitely be reading more。 My 3 year old really liked this book, not sure if she could relate too or if she just loved the cute (but not cutesy) illustrations。 The moment where Mrs。 Large finally sinks down into the tub was like a "Calgon take me away" moment - you can just feel the racket clear away and the peacefulness of that instant, for as long as it lasts! Mrs Large plans to go upstairs for a bath and have ‘five minutes peace’ from the family。 However, the children have other ideas。 The all end up coming to bother Mrs Large, wanting to play her music, read to her, and bring her toys to play with。 The story ends with the whole family in the bath together and Mrs Large missing out on her 'five minutes peace'。 This story's triumph is its relatability, for both adults and children alike。 Readers are able to relate the characters to those in their own Mrs Large plans to go upstairs for a bath and have ‘five minutes peace’ from the family。 However, the children have other ideas。 The all end up coming to bother Mrs Large, wanting to play her music, read to her, and bring her toys to play with。 The story ends with the whole family in the bath together and Mrs Large missing out on her 'five minutes peace'。 This story's triumph is its relatability, for both adults and children alike。 Readers are able to relate the characters to those in their own family and can provide children perspective of other characters' thoughts and feelings, for example how Mrs Large may be feeling when the children interrupt her bath。The story could be linked to living a healthy lifestyle, with cleanliness being a focus。 。。。more

This was a favourite of mine as a child, reading with Grandma! I have thoroughly enjoyed re-reading it again as an adult, and sharing it with my Year 1/2 class。 It's a really funny story which the children loved, and I think a lot of people find somewhat relatable。 Children can make and discuss their world-to-text connections。 This was a favourite of mine as a child, reading with Grandma! Only a mother can understand what being a mother is like--it's enjoyable, but sometimes it gets so frantic that the mother wishes for only five minutes alone。 That's what Mrs。 Large, a mother of 3 elephants wants for herself。 But when you have 3 children, it’s not easy。The book so reflects our everyday life (with our two children) that me and my wife just laughed and rated it 5。 Only a mother can understand what being a mother is like--it's enjoyable, but sometimes it gets so frantic that the mother wishes for only five minutes alone。 That's what Mrs。 Large, a mother of 3 elephants wants for herself。 But when you have 3 children, it’s not easy。The book so reflects our everyday life (with our two children) that me and my wife just laughed and rated it 5。 。。。more

This was one of my absolute favorite books as a child。 This story is about a young elephant family and Mrs。 Large, the mother elephant, just wants some peace and quiet away from her three very loud children。 As she begins her day by making her breakfast she is bombarded with questions and yelling。 Hoping to slip away one of her children ask where she is going and she said to the bathroom for five minutes' peace。 She makes it upstairs to her bathroom and gets into the tub hoping none of her child This was one of my absolute favorite books as a child。 This story is about a young elephant family and Mrs。 Large, the mother elephant, just wants some peace and quiet away from her three very loud children。 As she begins her day by making her breakfast she is bombarded with questions and yelling。 Hoping to slip away one of her children ask where she is going and she said to the bathroom for five minutes' peace。 She makes it upstairs to her bathroom and gets into the tub hoping none of her children bother her for a short while。 But before she could even have a bite of her toast her eldest some walks into the room asking to play a song for his mom。 Then came the daughter asking to read from her story book, and then came the youngest with all of his toys。 Mrs。 Large soon realized five minutes' peace was unrealistic in her house。 This book is a great book to include within classrooms, and could be used to talk about patience and how important that virtue can prove to be。 。。。more
