برخلاف نظر اکثریت، من این جلد تن‌تن رو هرچند نااگاهانه و در چارچوب پرت دیدگاه عمومی میدونم ولی نزادپرستانه نه。 امیدوارم نسخه کاملی بوده باشه البته و اون قسمتهای نژادپرستانه مورد نظر حذف نشده باشن。هنوز تو دوران وقت دادنم。 لذت چندانی نمی‌برم، امید دارم بهتر شه و قطعا میخونم تا اخرین کتاب رو به خاطر ارزشش。

（English review below）Je suis un grand fan de la série Tintin de Hergé。 Quand j’étais enfant， je me rappelle lire ces bande-dessinées tout le temps avant d’aller au lit。 J’ai récemment décidé de me relancer dedans et voir ce que mon esprit d’adulte pense de tout cela！Je tiens à préciser que toute personne voulant se lancer dans la série doit se rappeler du contexte historique de cette série et de l’époque à laquelle vivait l’auteur。 Certains sujets peuvent être politiquement incorrecte de nos jo （English review below）Je suis un grand fan de la série Tintin de Hergé。 Quand j’étais enfant， je me rappelle lire ces bande-dessinées tout le temps avant d’aller au lit。 J’ai récemment décidé de me relancer dedans et voir ce que mon esprit d’adulte pense de tout cela！Je tiens à préciser que toute personne voulant se lancer dans la série doit se rappeler du contexte historique de cette série et de l’époque à laquelle vivait l’auteur。 Certains sujets peuvent être politiquement incorrecte de nos jours， et certains thèmes abordés peuvent être sensible。Tintin au Congo est le second volume， et l’art de cette série a déjà fait un grand pas en avant。 De plus， l’intrigue semble avoir un peu plus de sens， bien que l’objectif de Tintin soit relativement vague: explorer l’Afrique… De nouveau， comme le premier volume de la série， Tintin au Pays des Soviets， Tintin semble toujours avoir exactement ce qu’il lui faut pour se sortir d’une sale situation （une scie dans son sac à dos？ Un scaphandre dans un donjon？）， mais ça fait partie du charme de cette série et on apprend à apprécier ces coïncidences！ Et comme toujours， la perspective de Milou sur l’aventure est unique et hilarante。La représentation de l’Afrique et ses habitants est très caricaturale et démontre bien la vision de l’époque qui n’est plus acceptable de nos jours。 Cependant， il faut savoir que l’auteur， Hergé， lui-même a reconnu depuis que cette représentation n’est pas correcte， et regrette également illustrer les scandaleuses chasses aux animaux。Autant j’ai préféré ce livre au premier， j’ai été bien dérangé par le nombre d’animaux chassés et tués par Tintin， ainsi que la caricature des habitants de l’Afrique。 Pour cette raison， je reste encore sur un 3/5 pour ce volume， mais je promets que de bonnes aventures sont à venir！————————————————I am a huge fan of the Tintin series by Hergé。 I remember often reading these comics before bed as a child。 I have recently decided to give them another read and see what my adult self thinks of it！I would like to remind anybody reading these about the historical context of the stories and the times the author was living in。 Certain subject might be considered politically incorrect nowadays and some of the themes could be considered quite sensitive。Tintin in the Congo is the second volume and the art of the series has already stepped up quite a bit。 In addition， the plot in this one was a little clearer than the first volume even though Tintin’s objectives still seemed fairly vague: explore Africa… As in the first volume， Tintin in the Land of the Soviets， Tintin seems to always have exactly what he needs to get out of a bad situation （a hacksaw in his backpack？ A diving suit in a dungeon？）， but it’s part of the charm of this series and you learn to appreciate these coincidences！ And， as always， Snowy’s perspective on things is unique and hilarious。The depiction of Africa and its inhabitants is very caricatural and reflects the stereotypes of the time， which are not acceptable nowadays。 However， it must be noted that the author， Hergé， himself has since recognized that this representation of Africa is not correct and also regrets portraying big game hunting。 I did prefer this volume to the first one， but I was pretty bothered by the number of animals hunted and killed by Tintin， as well as the stereotypical representation of Africa and its inhabitants。 For this reason， this one is also a 3/5 in my books， but I promise better adventures of Tintin are coming！ 。。。more

For the summer of 2021 I am rereading the Tintin books。 I read them many times as a young adult， but have not read them in decades。 In tandem with reading them I am also reading The Complete Tintin by Michael Farr。 I have long suspected these books don't hold up well， but Farr does a good job of putting them in context- Herge， while still racist， was actually beyond his time in terms of representing BIPOC people。 I think there is something about these books， they have remained popular for 100 ye For the summer of 2021 I am rereading the Tintin books。 I read them many times as a young adult， but have not read them in decades。 In tandem with reading them I am also reading The Complete Tintin by Michael Farr。 I have long suspected these books don't hold up well， but Farr does a good job of putting them in context- Herge， while still racist， was actually beyond his time in terms of representing BIPOC people。 I think there is something about these books， they have remained popular for 100 years all across the world， not just in predominantly white countries and spaces， so I wanted to revisit them。This one is just a big no for me。 Farr discusses that Herge bore no ill will toward Africans and was later to regret his depiction of the Congolese people here。 But it's still offensive and ugly。 Herge later developed a research process that helped him depict BIPOC people better （he even essentially had an sensitivity reader for The Blue Lotus） that is badly lacking here and resulted in a book whose flaws far outweigh it's significance in the Tintin cannon。 I think only diehard Tintin fans might appreciate this one， but even then it's hard to stomach knowing that people still hold these beliefs about Africans and Black people in general。 。。。more

نسبت به جلد اول خیلی بهتر شد و دیگه پروپاگاندا نیست。این کتاب یک داستان سرگرم کننده است با کمی انتقاد سیاسی。باید زمان انتشار کتاب را در نظر بگیرید。در دهه‌ی ۳۰ میلادی صحبت از برابری سیاه و سفید کردن، یک اکت سیاسی‌ست که حتی می‌تواند به قتل گوینده هم منجر شود。با مزه بود، دوستش داشتم。

My goodness， but that was a quick read！！ Considering that it took me over a month to read Tintin in the Land of the Soviets， I would say that 3 hours wasn't so bad。 :） This book is probably the most controversial in the entire Tintin canon， so much so that you can't find a copy anywhere。 Thank goodness， though， for whoever was nice enough to post a PDF file of it online so that I could read it。First and foremost， let me say this: I realize that the plot in this book is weak and that some parts a My goodness， but that was a quick read！！ Considering that it took me over a month to read Tintin in the Land of the Soviets， I would say that 3 hours wasn't so bad。 :） This book is probably the most controversial in the entire Tintin canon， so much so that you can't find a copy anywhere。 Thank goodness， though， for whoever was nice enough to post a PDF file of it online so that I could read it。First and foremost， let me say this: I realize that the plot in this book is weak and that some parts are pretty dull and seem to drag on （especially the hunting sequences where all Tintin and Snowy do is sit around and shoot deer after antelope after elephant after rhino。） I also realize that there are definitely some pretty outdated racial elements to this story involving colonialism and the then mainstream thought that all Africans were savages and needed the oversight of white man to survive。 I don't condone that。 However， unlike some， I also realize that this is a book and that it is a book from 1932， no less。 I don't see how it is fair to hold Herge to this work when at the time he didn't mean to cause any offence or to bring up any sort of racial theme to the book。 The plot in this book goes as follows:Just back from the long trip of his to the Land of the Soviets （Communist Russia） Tintin and Snowy decide to take a well earned vacation to get away from all of the stress of their job。 So， they take a cruise to the Belgian Congo （at the time， a colony of the Kingdom of Belgium）。 However， aboard the ship， Snowy discovers that there is a stowaway after them who wishes to kill both him and Tintin。 When they reach the Congo， they continue to be chased by the stowaway， who procedes to try to drown both Tintin and Snowy several times， as well as trying many more ways of murdering them， we find out later， in an attempt to pick them off on the orders of the famed American gangster Al Capone。 After many， many， many run ins with savage wild animals， tribesmen， a missionary， etc。， Tintin finally takes care of the baddies once and for all （or so we are led to believe） and he is picked up by a plane who flies him and Snowy into the sunset。 The End。Overall， like I said， I liked this book and thought that it was a fun read， though there wasn't much substance and it only felt like a minor upgrade from Land of the Soviets。 Overall， I would reccomend to a Tintin fan or someone that enjoys Tintin， but not as a first read in the Tintin series （and certainly not to a human rights activist）！！ Overall， I'm glad that I read it and I cannot wait to continue on in the series！ 。。。more

Agak terganggu dengan banyaknya binatang liar yang diburu dan menjadi korban di buku ini。 Tetapi， komik ini dibuat dan terbit pertama tahun 1930 dan kala itu benua Afrika masih menjadi ladang perburuan bagi orang Eropa， dan bukan sebuah alam liar yang patut dilindungi。 Versi ini adalah versi yang telah diberi warna dari versi asli yang awalnya masih hitam-putih。 Gambarnya khas banget， dan ada beberapa panel yang semakin menarik saat diberi warna， misalnya saat Tintin dikejar gajah afrika。 Selain Agak terganggu dengan banyaknya binatang liar yang diburu dan menjadi korban di buku ini。 Tetapi， komik ini dibuat dan terbit pertama tahun 1930 dan kala itu benua Afrika masih menjadi ladang perburuan bagi orang Eropa， dan bukan sebuah alam liar yang patut dilindungi。 Versi ini adalah versi yang telah diberi warna dari versi asli yang awalnya masih hitam-putih。 Gambarnya khas banget， dan ada beberapa panel yang semakin menarik saat diberi warna， misalnya saat Tintin dikejar gajah afrika。 Selain kentalnya aroma kolonialisme （yang membuat Herge banyak dikritik pada karya-karya awalnya）， Tintin di Kongo mengambarkan alam liar Afrika dengan berbagai hewan liarnya。 Petualangan Tintin dan Snowy tetap seru dan khas--dengan Tintin yang selalu lolos dari bahaya karena keberuntungan。 。。。more
