New York Times best-selling author Neil Gaiman's transcendent series SANDMAN is often hailed as the definitive Vertigo title and one of the finest achievements in graphic storytelling。 Gaiman created an unforgettable tale of the forces that exist beyond life and death by weaving ancient mythology, folklore and fairy tales with his own distinct narrative vision。

During Morpheus's incarceration, three dreams escaped the Dreaming and are now loose in the waking world。 At the same time, a young woman named Rose Walker is searching for her little brother。 As their stories converge, a vortex is discovered that could destroy all dreamers, and the world itself。

Gaiman is an absolute legend。 That is all

W E I R DAfter two volumes, I'm coming to grips with the fact that maybe I'm not meant to "get it" immediately and so I'll take my time and just wallow in uncertainty until things are revealed later on。 Which doesn't mean I don't like it! It's just not how I tend to read books, so forcing myself to relax and not try to overanalyze is a good exercise for me。 This is also my first time reading, so there'll be plenty of room for analysis later。*checks the Netflix cast list*Patton Oswalt, Stephen Fr W E I R DAfter two volumes, I'm coming to grips with the fact that maybe I'm not meant to "get it" immediately and so I'll take my time and just wallow in uncertainty until things are revealed later on。 Which doesn't mean I don't like it! Like nothing else。The Doll's House is like nothing else I have read。 Each section had its own character and personality。 And it still came together as a complete whole at the end。 Each page had amazing and unique art to grab you, and the journey Rose takes is completely engrossing。 I just recently started drifting away from Superhero trades。 This book was a giant yank towards Gaimen。 The cereal convention chapter could be a Twilight Zone episode。 Loved it。 Like nothing else。The Doll's House is like nothing else I have read。 Each section had its own character and personality。 And it still came together as a complete whole at the end。 Each page had amazing and unique art to grab you, and the journey Rose takes is completely engrossing。 I just recently started drifting away from Superhero trades。 This book was a giant yank towards Gaimen。 The cereal convention chapter could be a Twilight Zone episode。 Loved it。 。。。more

This review has been hidden because it contains spoilers。 To view it, click here。 The last time I read the Sandman series was close to 20 years ago, I forgot how dark and heavy the early issues were。 The serial killers convention was too intense and I know if the entire series were like that, I wouldn’t make it much further。 It’s not bad, I just can’t handle kids being in danger, and this is the first time reading it as a parent。My highlight was the issue about Morpheus meeting the human every 100 years。

What can I say?It was breathtaking。

The second part of the Neil Gaiman masterpiece。 Nuff said。 (Also: wonderfully creepy in places, good characters and world building, and excellent lines。 The artwork matches the writing perfectly。)

When I first heard that the main character of this series controls dreams, I remember thinking "How the hell is the author going to think of storylines and plots for a character without much power?" Let's just say Gaiman has shown me exactly how。 Not only are his stories fast paced and eventful, the writing is also spectacular。 I became a fan when I read The Sandman #1; I am a fangirl after reading The Sandman #2。 When I first heard that the main character of this series controls dreams, I remember thinking "How the hell is the author going to think of storylines and plots for a character without much power?" This one was a whole lot easier to get through and more fun too! I loved the serial killer conference, I wonder if they do communicate with each other in some way in real life。。。 that would be pretty messed up。Curious to see what happens in Dreamland next!

You can tell Gaiman and the team really found their footing with this one。 The first volume seems like a happy accident and was the ignition towards this series。 This second volume feels full of intention and familiarity。In Doll's House we get a lot more horror aspects, graphic murders, assault and an entire new lineup of decrepit characters to fill the plot。 The art has finally found its footing and fits this comic perfectly。 We get dream trying to piece together his kingdom after his long abse You can tell Gaiman and the team really found their footing with this one。 The first volume seems like a happy accident and was the ignition towards this series。 This second volume feels full of intention and familiarity。In Doll's House we get a lot more horror aspects, graphic murders, assault and an entire new lineup of decrepit characters to fill the plot。 The art has finally found its footing and fits this comic perfectly。 We get dream trying to piece together his kingdom after his long absence。 On the hunt are a few nightmares that are running amok the land of reality。 Dream takes the task of tracking them down and ending their charades。 Side note: I'm too lazy to do a Google search but the Sandman's character design looks a lot like The Crow。 I'm not sure which came first but I wonder if there was any inspiration between the two。 Or - perhaps when people think goth, depressed white guy, the template emerges。 。。。more

The Sandman continues to be an exceptional graphic novel。 I love Neil Gaiman。 Warnings: Like the first Sandman, this is graphic and deals with very sensitive subject matter, so depending on how you feel about that, you might want to skip it。

After the first volume, I wasn't sure how much I would like the series。 But in this one, Gaiman (afaik) stops using others' comic characters/worlds and sets the story firmly in his own creation。The issues of this volume cover such a wide variety of places, times, and stories that it would be hard to finish it without finding something appealing。 I knew it was going to be good when it opened in Africa, with a man telling his grandson an ancient story。 Right there, it was clear how expansive Gaima After the first volume, I wasn't sure how much I would like the series。 But in this one, Gaiman (afaik) stops using others' comic characters/worlds and sets the story firmly in his own creation。The issues of this volume cover such a wide variety of places, times, and stories that it would be hard to finish it without finding something appealing。 I knew it was going to be good when it opened in Africa, with a man telling his grandson an ancient story。 Right there, it was clear how expansive Gaiman's intents are。 Other highlights are a story that takes place across several centuries in a London pub (loved the costume changes!) and a--ah-hem--cereal convention。Though there were some pretty disparate stories in this volume the overall story was tied to a girl named Rose Walker, the granddaughter of someone we met in the first volume。 She's determined to track down her younger brother, who seems to have been misplaced among family members for reasons that are either unclear or I forgot as his mother is still alive and has custody of Rose。 。。。more

This volume may be about dreams。。。 But it is also about doing what must be done。 Nightmares may walk our earth, but so do green pastures。 Never forget that。
