This tome has it all。An intriguing detective story, an adversary that can match Batman in physical prowess and skill, a beautiful art style and a pleasing colour palette。。。 It was a fantastic read。It's packed with mystery and action, you'll be relentlessly turning pages, which will inevitably lead you right into the nest of the Owls。。。 Or so it seems。And don't even get me started on the additional story at the very end of this book, "The Fall Of The House Of Wayne"。A short atmospheric tale, just This tome has it all。An intriguing detective story, an adversary that can match Batman in physical prowess and skill, a beautiful art style and a pleasing colour palette。。。 It was a fantastic read。It's packed with mystery and action, you'll be relentlessly turning pages, which will inevitably lead you right into the nest of the Owls。。。 Or so it seems。And don't even get me started on the additional story at the very end of this book, "The Fall Of The House Of Wayne"。A short atmospheric tale, just as you would expect from the title which pays homage to one of the greatest works of Edgar Allan Poe, which offers insights into some of the events which "The Court Of Owls" touched upon, but it still doesn't reveal too much。Instead, it leaves us thirsty for answers and burdened with melancholy (Oh the burned letter! A father's last cry, woefully lost。。。)One of the best Batman stories I've read so far, highly recommended。 。。。more

This is the first comic book I’ve ever read in full。 If you want to familiarize yourself more with Batman beyond just the movies than I’d highly recommend this book。 It read more like a mystery than what I had expected a superhero comic book would be like。 If you’re looking for a good intro to the Dark Knight than look no further than this!

Great jumping on point for Batman。

Greatest value in this collection for me is the fact that is the very rare original story about Batman。 As we follow Batman investigating gruesome murders linked to old child rhyme, strange shadowy forces start to focus on Bruce Wayne persona and his friends after he announces great reconstruction works in Gotham。 Soon our hero will be brought to the very edge of sanity (labyrinth part is excellent) and will rise up as a more direct and deadlier Batman than before。As usual Wayne family links wit Greatest value in this collection for me is the fact that is the very rare original story about Batman。 As we follow Batman investigating gruesome murders linked to old child rhyme, strange shadowy forces start to focus on Bruce Wayne persona and his friends after he announces great reconstruction works in Gotham。 Soon our hero will be brought to the very edge of sanity (labyrinth part is excellent) and will rise up as a more direct and deadlier Batman than before。As usual Wayne family links with the shadowy Owls stretches back decades if not centuries and these familial relations will not only affect Batman but also greater Bat-family。Art is excellent, I enjoy works of artists that know how to portray human body from various angles without it ending up in anatomically weirdly positions - limbs stretching or shortening without perspective and facial expressions ending up as a rather creepy。Greg Capullo is great artist and his work is highly cinematic and dynamic。 Pure joy for the eyes。For fans of Batman stories this one is highly recommended。 For me it stands right there with stories of Batman and Bane and Batman and Ra's al Ghul。 For others if you are fan of action and adventure and truly beautiful illustrations give this one a shot, I think you will like it。 。。。more

This review has been hidden because it contains spoilers。 To view it, click here。 Snyder had a good core idea here, which was to mess with Batman by making him reckon with a city he thought he knew。 You have a strong storytelling start when you take an established character and force him to question his identity and beliefs。Unfortunately, the “Court” part falls away to a bunch of Talon fights before a soap opera reveal that makes the final issue just loads of exposition。 For all that the story does right in pushing the frailty of Batman’s psyche, the story falls apart because Snyder had a good core idea here, which was to mess with Batman by making him reckon with a city he thought he knew。 You have a strong storytelling start when you take an established character and force him to question his identity and beliefs。Unfortunately, the “Court” part falls away to a bunch of Talon fights before a soap opera reveal that makes the final issue just loads of exposition。 For all that the story does right in pushing the frailty of Batman’s psyche, the story falls apart because it needs “a villain” and that villain just ends up feeling like a variation on Hush, who wasn’t that great of a character in the first place。 。。。more

Court of Owls is Batman at its best。 The story, the characterization, the relationships, the art, the design, the tone。 It all hits exactly the notes that make it great。 I have nothing negative to say about this saga。

I love the court of owls storyline。 The art and design of the book are fantastic。 Usually the villains attack Batman but it’s interesting to see what happens when both Batman and Bruce Wayne are attacked。 10/10!

*3。5 starsA solid Batman comic。 Fun to read。 I really liked the coloring in this one, as well as most of the art, but the story was just ok。 I was hoping the Court of Owls conspiracy would be deeper and more complex than what was given, but the story was still entertaining even though it was not as complex as I hoped。 I would be interested in reading more stories featuring the Court of Owls in the future though。

This was a really good comic, but as with every book I read, I have problems with it。 I think the thing that bothered me the most was how every other page someone would stop and make a big speech full of exposition。 I also don't really know how I feel about the plot twist。 It was a really big reveal but then ended up being a trick which was kind of strange。 That sort of thing happened a few times throughout the story, and I really wasn't a fan。 I'm also never a believer in short stories after th This was a really good comic, but as with every book I read, I have problems with it。 I think the thing that bothered me the most was how every other page someone would stop and make a big speech full of exposition。 I also don't really know how I feel about the plot twist。 It was a really big reveal but then ended up being a trick which was kind of strange。 That sort of thing happened a few times throughout the story, and I really wasn't a fan。 I'm also never a believer in short stories after the main story。 A lot of Batman comics have them and I've never been a fan。 For me they kind of always take away from the main story and these two specific ones didn't add anything at all for me。Overall a really good story, though。 The writer and the artist both seem to know a lot about the character of Batman and there was a lot of stuff that made up for the things I didn't like。 。。。more

I’ve always heard this heralded as a modern day classic batman story and while I enjoyed it。。。 I don’t really get the hype?? my biggest issue is with the writing, i hate when Batman is written as “I can do whatever the fuck I want because I’m Batman” and that’s how I feel Snyder writes him。 He does stuff that feels like he only does cuz “Batman epic” and he says stuff I found really out of character at times and would be much more in line with a Spiderman quip。 This is especially evident in his I’ve always heard this heralded as a modern day classic batman story and while I enjoyed it。。。 I don’t really get the hype?? my biggest issue is with the writing, i hate when Batman is written as “I can do whatever the fuck I want because I’m Batman” and that’s how I feel Snyder writes him。 He does stuff that feels like he only does cuz “Batman epic” and he says stuff I found really out of character at times and would be much more in line with a Spiderman quip。 This is especially evident in his internal monologue that I just found so odd 80% percent of the time。 the court of owls is a great concept but didn’t feel like they were given more than just faceless assassins that barely felt like a threat。 I know they set them up as this whole looking force over Gotham but other than the labyrinth issues, they don’t feel like a collective threat at all。 the whole twist at the end left me unsatisfied。 it felt shoehorned in and while it wants you to feel like it ties it all up, it sure feels rushed。 there are definite high points, the action is always dynamic (although a little hard to follow sometimes) and I legit consider the two issues of Batman stuck in the labyrinth to be some of my favorite comic issues I’ve read。 the art kept me going through this tbh it’s always fantastic and I love the way Capullo draws Batman。 also they do some really creative stuff with paneling and format which I live for。 overall a fun Batman story but is it the instant classic people always say it is? not in my opinion at least, tbh I prefer King’s Rebirth run。 fight me 。。。more

Snyder throws the kitchen sink at Batman。 Written with respect and I really liked it。 Art was out of the world。 By far the best emergency call out to the Bat family ever。

Julio César

Its good but i had bigger expectations of the arc, i must re read it in English because the translation in my language was horrible。

This review has been hidden because it contains spoilers。 To view it, click here。 I’m casually into batman comics because the sheer number of them has always felt overwhelming to me。 But the couple of stories I’ve read have always been good ones。 The Court of Owls saga is no exception and reads like a classic。 The mystery of the court and slow revelation of who and what they are is page turning。 The bat family isn’t on full display here but they’re mentioned to be at full form and available for backup, while Bruce questions whether he ever knew the true Gotham at all。 I enjoy I’m casually into batman comics because the sheer number of them has always felt overwhelming to me。 But the couple of stories I’ve read have always been good ones。 The Court of Owls saga is no exception and reads like a classic。 The mystery of the court and slow revelation of who and what they are is page turning。 The bat family isn’t on full display here but they’re mentioned to be at full form and available for backup, while Bruce questions whether he ever knew the true Gotham at all。 I enjoyed the moments where the story came together as well as seeing Batman seem to really take this villain personally。 I’d definitely recommend this story to anyone looking to read a solid Batman comic。 。。。more

Wow。 A magnificent, quintessential Batman story。 It has mystery, darkness, and fearsome villains。 This iteration of Batman is the perfect mix of kind and cruel。 And the villains in this story, The Court of Owls, provided one of the few times I actually wondered if Batman might lose。 The artwork is stellar。 You’ll end up being suspicious of everyone in the story。 But more than anything, you’ll be rooting for The Dark Knight to pull off the unlikeliest of victories。
