Summary

While I really enjoyed this book, there were a few things that annoyed me。 Such as the author would forget certain details like when a charter would across the room or when a character gave another character in item。In the plot, it took the characters longer than they should have to realize that Lou was possessed by another witch。 Then when they cure her, Reid cast a spell that made Lou’s mother forget her existence but in doing so, made Reid forget her as well。 But in all, found this book a enj While I really enjoyed this book, there were a few things that annoyed me。 Such as the author would forget certain details like when a charter would across the room or when a character gave another character in item。In the plot, it took the characters longer than they should have to realize that Lou was possessed by another witch。 Then when they cure her, Reid cast a spell that made Lou’s mother forget her existence but in doing so, made Reid forget her as well。 But in all, found this book a enjoyable read and a satisfying conclusion to this series。 。。。more

Much better pacing that Blood and Honey。 I still think the best book in the series is Sepent and Dove but this book had lots of great content and a satisfying ending to the series。

The beginning was definitely not the most memorable; however, I enjoyed being back into this world。 The best part of the book, was defiantly the epilogue。

“Fear was inevitable。 We all made our choices, and we all suffered our consequences。 We all felt fear。 The trick was learning it live with it, to continue forward in spite of it。”Truly, I could not have asked for a better ending to this trilogy。 The story was concluded perfectly and the epilogue broke my heart (in a good way)。 Whilst, Reid still infuriates me, I am willing to overlook that purely for the happiness he brings Lou。 Speaking of which, Lou’s character development was beautiful, as wa “Fear was inevitable。 We all made our choices, and we all suffered our consequences。 We all felt fear。 The trick was learning it live with it, to continue forward in spite of it。”Truly, I could not have asked for a better ending to this trilogy。 The story was concluded perfectly and the epilogue broke my heart (in a good way)。 Whilst, Reid still infuriates me, I am willing to overlook that purely for the happiness he brings Lou。 Speaking of which, Lou’s character development was beautiful, as was that of other characters (especially Coco and Beau)。 Overall, this book was a rollercoaster and I loved it。 。。。more

to be completely honest, i didn’t love this book。 i think the second one was better than this one and that’s saying something! however, despite my lack of appreciation for the second book, i still had to read this… i NEEDED to know what happens to the characters! and let me just say this, the ending hurts, like really hurts。

3。5 maybe even 3。75 and a solid 1。5 is because the last 1/3 was just that good。The main problem of this book (and tbh book 2 as well) is that it just goes nowhere。 The characters go through the exact same character arc as in book 1 IN EVERY BOOK。 There’s almost no story progression, it’s just set back after set back to pad the length。 Most of them would maybe make sense and would be engaging - if the same structural set backs wouldn’t have been the same in book 2。 The first 2/3 of this book don’ 3。5 maybe even 3。75 and a solid 1。5 is because the last 1/3 was just that good。The main problem of this book (and tbh book 2 as well) is that it just goes nowhere。 The characters go through the exact same character arc as in book 1 IN EVERY BOOK。 There’s almost no story progression, it’s just set back after set back to pad the length。 Most of them would maybe make sense and would be engaging - if the same structural set backs wouldn’t have been the same in book 2。 The first 2/3 of this book don’t feel like the epic finale of the trilogy。 The ending does pick up and delivers a grand finale, but everything building up to that is scattered and disjointed。 Characters disappear for hundreds of pages, some vital storyline about different characters who have to overcome differences happens off-page。 I just wished everything would’ve been more tight, the storylines more solid。 At least all the characters were extremely likeable this time around, unlike the second book where I couldn’t stand Lou’s POV。 As it is, the trilogy has a great concept and you can tell there’s been a solid plan from the beginning of the main point, but it feels like someone rushed Mahurin on the specifics and she had to run in circles a little to make it make sense, instead to taking time to plan a more coherent body of work。 The middle of this book was so frustratingly going nowhere and filled with tropes I HATE that I almost gave up, but I’m glad I stuck with it。 The end really makes it worth it, it’s grand and satisfying。 A bit too gratuitous at times (they all are severely OP in this book), but it was fun。 The first book is still by far the strongest, and the second and third are equally flawed, but I still think it’s gonna be a very popular series that’s gonna remain well beloved because Mahurin managed to stuck the landing。 Maybe on re-read I’ll enjoy it more, I know I certainly loved Serpent and Dove a lot more the second time around。 。。。more

This is… equally what I expected and disappointed。 So following the mess that is the second book, I expected this mess。 It took me over 100 pages to get into (never a good sign for a final book, and the big fight scene that we spend three books on was only two paragraphs? This book was frustrating, beautiful, maddening, and spectacular all at the same time。 I want to start off my saying how cool of a magic system this author has created。 I've never read anything like it, it was so unique and different and so interesting。 I was getting a bit worried after the second book, I really enjoyed the first one, but then the second one was just so hard to get through。 And this third one, it was LONG。 But honestly, (and others may disagree) worth it! All the characters & their development was insane and the romance aspect was good。 The plot was super interesting as well, and I felt so immersed into the story。 Don't get me wrong, I was lost more than a few times while reading - especially with all the characters and the places, but I think I caught on quick enough。 Didn't think I'd like this series to begin with, so it's crazy to think that I don't regret to say that I'm so sad to be letting it go。 It had humor, romance, interesting characters, good plot。 It was good。 And the ending - don't even get me started。 It was so bittersweet yet so perfect。 If I had emotions I definitely would have cried。 Sad to see this series go but will always remember it。 。。。more

This review has been hidden because it contains spoilers。 To view it, click here。 I can’t say I’m disappointed because I had no expectations going into it, just the need to conclude a series。 I would have given it at least 3 stars if not for the unless excuse to use the amnesia trope to avoid having to actually deliver on character development。 Authors please stick to your plans if you intend on executing a duology。 Such a sad missed opportunity it’s tragic。

This was a welcome surprise after what a letdown the last book was。 This was a lot of fun to read - I flew through it! - and I highly recommend this series if you like fantasy and politics with equal parts romance (there is more focus on the romance in the first book than the later ones, though not by an overly significant amount)。The things I loved:Such a fun world! Yes, yes。The things I didn't love:The plot meanders a bit。 A good portion of the story felt like fan-service in the sense we were just getting more time with the characters in fun situations that were not necessarily moving the plot forward。 One of other my bigger issues was the plot device used to create the romantic tension, which I thought was unnecessary and felt illogical at times (Truth or dare with that group? C'mon)。 Yet, I still ate it up。I really enjoyed this series, especially the first book。 If you're looking for a hate-to-love + star-crossed lovers fantasy romance, I think you'd really like this。 。。。more
