As far as the story goes: love it。 Obviously。 Just enough crazy to keep me happy。 This is one of the most beloved stories and it isn’t hard to see why。 Why/how it was written is a bit…suspicious。

"Alice's Adventures in Wonderland" and "Through the Looking Glass:" 4/5 starsThese are classic for a reason， and well worth the read。 They're are written for children， but there's a lot that an adult will pick up on that a child probably wouldn't。 Also， I appreciated that this edition included the original illustrations，"Sylvie and Bruno" and "Sylvie and Bruno Concluded:" 2。5/5 starsThese 2 take up by far the majority of the book。 Although I tended to enjoy the chapters individually， especially "Alice's Adventures in Wonderland" and "Through the Looking Glass:" 4/5 starsThese are classic for a reason， and well worth the read。 They're are written for children， but there's a lot that an adult will pick up on that a child probably wouldn't。 Also， I appreciated that this edition included the original illustrations，"Sylvie and Bruno" and "Sylvie and Bruno Concluded:" 2。5/5 starsThese 2 take up by far the majority of the book。 Although I tended to enjoy the chapters individually， especially the further I got into the story， I still found that I had to convince myself to keep reading。 I think Carroll is a little too ambitious for himself here; he tries to do a lot of things with this but he doesn't quite succeed in making them all mesh。 Perhaps that's partially intentional， given the way that often he jumps between the fairy world and the real world with little or no warning。 Still， I think this might have worked better if he put these ideas in two distinct stories （rather than one story in two parts）。"A Tangled Tale:" 4/5 starsI didn't actually try to solve the math riddles， but this was worth reading for Carroll's responses to the submissions alone。Remaining 4 short stories: collective 2。5/5 starsThese generally try to be cute， some of which succeed better than others。Overall， as I said above， the Alice stories are well worth a read， but the rest is pretty skippable if you're not a particular devotee of Carroll。 I don't know how easy it is to find editions with the original illustrations of "Alice，" so this one might be worth looking into for that reason， but otherwise， a book with only "Alice" and "Looking Glass" will probably be enough for most people。 。。。more

This book was my first ever DNF。 I read Alice in Wonderland and Alice Through the Looking Glass， but couldn't do Sylvie and Bruno。 It was utterly bizarre in a world of expected bizarre。 I just couldn't do all the jumping around。 I enjoyed a lot of the poetry， but not all of it was great and I skipped around through the last of the collection as well。 I guess I like structure and discernible plots more than I thought！ This book was my first ever DNF。 I read Alice in Wonderland and Alice Through the Looking Glass， but couldn't do Sylvie and Bruno。 It was utterly bizarre in a world of expected bizarre。 I just couldn't do all the jumping around。 I enjoyed a lot of the poetry， but not all of it was great and I skipped around through the last of the collection as well。 I guess I like structure and discernible plots more than I thought！ 。。。more

I love the whimsy of the Disney movie， but obviously the liberties taken by Disney make the animated film vastly different from the story。。。 and I find I despise the story。 2 stars because Carroll created a world that Disney brought to life for me， but otherwise， what a tedious read。
