Ryan Howell

Quick historical account of the last 100 years of the NFL。 Small excerpts about the legends that made the sports great。

was a very good book and really enjoyed it。

To be fair, I only looked at the photos and read a scant few of the articles here, but the photos are fantastic and the stories I did read were great。 Great pages of stats for each decade are included too, which is fun。

Colorful vignettes, characters and photos from the first century of the NFL。 A 100-yard, 100-year trip through time。 Touchdown!

As a fairly new neutral fan of the NFL I really enjoyed this book。 It doesn't go too in depth into the running of the leagues and difficulties in the start (highly recommend NFL century by joe horrigan if you are interested in that side of things) but does take a look at the players who made impacts on the league over the last 100 years。 Definitely helped scratch the itch until the season starts As a fairly new neutral fan of the NFL I really enjoyed this book。 It doesn't go too in depth into the running of the leagues and difficulties in the start (highly recommend NFL century by joe horrigan if you are interested in that side of things) but does take a look at the players who made impacts on the league over the last 100 years。 Definitely helped scratch the itch until the season starts 。。。more

I am completely biased, so take my review with a grain of salt: I love football。 Absolutely adore it。 So this huge coffee table book full of stories and quotes, history and anecdotes with amazing photography completely floats my boat。

For what it's worth I enjoyed this book but it has one glaring stainThis book featured players and stories that we would be remiss if we didn't mention them。 It explored the best players at every position and coaches who made a difference。 The quarterbacks were saved for last。 YEs the Greats were included like the Montana's and Elways, etc Imagine having a book where an honorable mention is made to Tom brady(no duh)Drew Brees。。。Nick Foles…。。um NICK FOLES??? okay fine, he did beat the GOAT in the For what it's worth I enjoyed this book but it has one glaring stainThis book featured players and stories that we would be remiss if we didn't mention them。 It explored the best players at every position and coaches who made a difference。 The quarterbacks were saved for last。 YEs the Greats were included like the Montana's and Elways, etc Imagine having a book where an honorable mention is made to Tom brady(no duh)Drew Brees。。。Nick Foles…。。um NICK FOLES??? okay fine, he did beat the GOAT in the SBThe manning brothers。。。Philip Rivers。。。Patrick Mahomeboy… (the chosen one) Aaron Rodgers。。but NO Russell Wilson。 How is Wilson suspiciously absent from a mention + pic from the Quarterbacks list? how can a football aficionado make this egregious ERROR???? it is unforgivable! As I stated, i still enjoyed the book。 It was a perfect way to celebrate along with Chief fans in the NFL's 100th year。 。。。more

Great coffee table book。 The great pictures combined with the stories of the NFL's past make this a must for any football fan。 My favorite parts were the contemporaneous stories of the great players, coaches, games and plays in NFL。 They were so much more enjoyable than reading about them from a vantage point of 5, 10 or more years later。 Great coffee table book。 The great pictures combined with the stories of the NFL's past make this a must for any football fan。 My favorite parts were the contemporaneous stories of the great players, coaches, games and plays in NFL。 They were so much more enjoyable than reading about them from a vantage point of 5, 10 or more years later。 。。。more

I have all three of these NFL benchmark books: The First 50 Years, 75 Seasons, and now NFL: 100 Years。 They are all great for a football fan, especially one with a history bent。 The writing is good in each, mostly quick interesting bios or memories。 There are nifty graphs, timelines, and pictorial blurbs like those you might find in a USA Today newspaper。 But, in every one of these books, the photos are the superstars。 Feast for the eyes is cliche, but for a football fan it really applies here。 I have all three of these NFL benchmark books: The First 50 Years, 75 Seasons, and now NFL: 100 Years。 They are all great for a football fan, especially one with a history bent。 The writing is good in each, mostly quick interesting bios or memories。 There are nifty graphs, timelines, and pictorial blurbs like those you might find in a USA Today newspaper。 But, in every one of these books, the photos are the superstars。 Feast for the eyes is cliche, but for a football fan it really applies here。 I'd highly recommend it。 (My brother's copy has a dubious inscription proclaiming him a genius of prognostication in the arena of the oblong spheroid。 I lost a bet。) 。。。more

A large, coffee-table style book。 It's a decade by decade overview of the 100 years of the NFL, with articles either from the decade in focus or about the key players and teams of the era。 Any fan of the NFL should enjoy paging through this。 A large, coffee-table style book。 It's a decade by decade overview of the 100 years of the NFL, with articles either from the decade in focus or about the key players and teams of the era。 Any fan of the NFL should enjoy paging through this。 。。。more

The pictures were cool, and a lot of the history is fun to look at, but it really is just a coffee table book you flip through for ten minutes and never look at again。 Kids into football will enjoy the pictures and it should open up some conversation about how the game used to be。 Beyond that, it has little staying power, and since the NFL is behind the book everything is pretty whitewashed。I didn't see anything about missed calls, terrible football video games, gambling (or fantasy football), s The pictures were cool, and a lot of the history is fun to look at, but it really is just a coffee table book you flip through for ten minutes and never look at again。 Kids into football will enjoy the pictures and it should open up some conversation about how the game used to be。 Beyond that, it has little staying power, and since the NFL is behind the book everything is pretty whitewashed。I didn't see anything about missed calls, terrible football video games, gambling (or fantasy football), steroids, domestic violence, racism, kneeling, obnoxious fans, or concussions。I once loved football。 I played, watched, and coached the game pretty fanatically, but we can't ignore the bad that comes with the game。 Now that I'm a father, I don't want my son playing the game, and I hope the NFL folds in the next 20 years。 。。。more

The only reason I gave it 4 stars instead of 5 stars is because it had 3 major errors that I noticed。 The first was ei seasons instead of eight seasons, the second was on the page about Ray Lewis it said he won 1 Super Bowl but he won 2 Super Bowls。 The third was saying Leavland Browns instead of Cleveland Browns。
