Summary

The twenty-fifth anniversary edition of the #1 New York Times bestselling classic, now with a note by author Thomas Harris revealing his inspiration for Hannibal Lecter。

A serial murderer known only by a grotesquely apt nickname—Buffalo Bill—is stalking particular women。 He has a purpose, but no one can fathom it, for the bodies are discovered in different states。 Clarice Starling, a young trainee at the F。B。I。 Academy, is surprised to be summoned by Jack Crawford, Chief of the Bureau's Behavioral Science section。 Her assignment: to interview Dr。 Hannibal Lecter, a brilliant psychiatrist and grisly killer now kept under close watch in the Baltimore State Hospital for the Criminally Insane。 Lecter's insight into the minds of murderers could help track and capture Buffalo Bill。

Smart and attractive, Starling is shaken to find herself in a strange, intense relationship with the acutely perceptive Lecter。 His cryptic clues—about Buffalo Bill and about her—launch Clarice on a search that every reader will find startling, harrowing, and totally compelling。

An ingenious, masterfully written novel, The Silence of the Lambs is a classic of suspense and storytelling。

One of my favourite films is silence of the lambs and I’d never actually read the book! But the book lived up to my expectations and I really enjoyed it!! I can’t wait to read the rest of the series and see what hannibal gets up to xox

As a kid, my mom always told me that the movie was too scary and I shouldn't watch it, so I didn't know what to expect when I started reading。 It seems I always had a wrong concept of it。 As a kid, my mom always told me that the movie was too scary and I shouldn't watch it, so I didn't know what to expect when I started reading。 It seems I always had a wrong concept of it。 。。。more

I enjoyed this classic with a side of fava beans and a nice chianti。。。I am a huge fan of the Oscar-winning 1991 film which led to me search for a copy of the Hannibal Lecter book series and I was pleased to find that the film stays very true to the novel。 I really enjoyed reading the first installment, Red Dragon, last year, zooming through it in just a few days。 Although I really enjoyed this novel too, I found that I know the story so well that I knew exactly what was going to happen next and I enjoyed this classic with a side of fava beans and a nice chianti。。。I am a huge fan of the Oscar-winning 1991 film which led to me search for a copy of the Hannibal Lecter book series and I was pleased to find that the film stays very true to the novel。 I really enjoyed reading the first installment, Red Dragon, last year, zooming through it in just a few days。 Although I really enjoyed this novel too, I found that I know the story so well that I knew exactly what was going to happen next and kind of took away from the suspense and mystery that makes Thomas Harris novels so good。 What would normally be a five-star review had to be knocked down to four stars for that reason。I still thought this was a great read, I recommend this or any of the Hannibal Lecter series novels to anyone who enjoys true-crime or murder mystery stories or fans of the film, you won't be disappointed。 。。。more

A step down from the stellar Red Dragon but this is still a great crime thriller with great characters and a thrilling final act

This book was amazing! It's a very sophisticated read, and you'll need to take some time to really process and think it over。 This book had me on the edge of my seat the whole time, from the description to the mystery to Hannibal。 Hannibal Lecter has to be one of my favourite fictional characters of all time。 He was so well written, and mysterious。 Everything about him just screamed psycho。 I definitely reccomend this to people who are interested in a good mystery crime fiction。 This book was amazing!

Short and sweet:- The running 'silence of the lambs' theme makes a bit more sense in the film。- Clarice Starling is a pluckier, more resilient character in the novel compared to her film counterpart。- Similarly, Catherine Martin is tougher than her film counterpart。- The subplot of Jack Crawford and his wife, which is absent in the film, is very touching。- Dr Lecter in the film and the novel, I find to be virtually the same for better and worse。 If you enjoyed Anthony Hopkins' performance, you s Short and sweet:- The running 'silence of the lambs' theme makes a bit more sense in the film。- Clarice Starling is a pluckier, more resilient character in the novel compared to her film counterpart。- Similarly, Catherine Martin is tougher than her film counterpart。- The subplot of Jack Crawford and his wife, which is absent in the film, is very touching。- Dr Lecter in the film and the novel, I find to be virtually the same for better and worse。 If you enjoyed Anthony Hopkins' performance, you should enjoy Lecter here。Great novel, was not disappointed。 。。。more

I found this book to be super popular, but this time I had the opportunity to bring her back。 The first impression I had was to say "My Gout" because I liked it so much。 I love this genre the most, the type of horror combined with the detective。 I've read this genre but it's produced by different countries, and I still like American's best (I guess I don't fit Japanese style, all genres)。The Silence of the Lambs is the second book in the Hannibal - Thomas Harris series。 The 4 complete books in o I found this book to be super popular, but this time I had the opportunity to bring her back。 The first impression I had was to say "My Gout" because I liked it so much。 I love this genre the most, the type of horror combined with the detective。 I've read this genre but it's produced by different countries, and I still like American's best (I guess I don't fit Japanese style, all genres)。The Silence of the Lambs is the second book in the Hannibal - Thomas Harris series。 The 4 complete books in order are Red Dragon, Silence of the Lambs, Hannibal, and finally Hannibal Rises。 See you guys one day not far away when I can afford to take the other 3。Here I will not talk about the plot (if you want to know, you should read it directly, it is better to read through these lines of mine), I will talk about the things that interest me after reading SILCBC。 The first thing that impressed me most about the character of Doctor Hannibal Lecter (at first he was scared, then I loved him so much) was not because he killed 9 people with the intention of eating them, but because he was extremely intelligent。 As for me at SILCBC, this psychiatrist had extensive knowledge in psychiatry that made him mind control his prey, then kill and finally eat them for entertainment purposes only。 more no less。 He was just indifferent, not afraid of torture or beating, but only afraid of boredom。 Thanks to his intelligence as well as experience, he knew the whereabouts of Bill Bo Mong (a murderer who specializes in killing women for their skin, as well as their body parts to satisfy his purpose) but he did not know。 divulging that information only leads the FBI to think and find him before the hostage is killed。 In this part, I still don't think it's enough to describe the psychology and personality as well as answer the question Why did he become like that? Perhaps the following sections will help me learn more about this monstrous but multi-talented doctor。I was super excited to know that near the end of the story Dr。 Lecter managed to escape by impaling 2 of the nurses, so SILCBC doesn't end but opens another story。When I first read it, I thought it was ok, interesting。 But in the middle of the story, it was a bit languid, after the last part pushed to the climax so I had to watch it all at 11 o'clock to bear it!!!In general, this is a good book, satisfying enough in this boring epidemic season。 。。。more

I went into this book confident I would love it and I was right! It was an amazing follow up to Red Dragon and Hannibal & Buffalo Bill were both great villains。 I absolutely loved both Clarice and Jack's characters and they worked so well together。 This is an instance where I did see the movie before reading the book and I still think they are both great and supplement each other well。 If you loved the movie, but haven't read the book, I'm confident you will love the book。 I went into this book confident I would love it and I was right!
