This is a cute, at times dark, story about twin witches who miss the bus to magic school and hijinks ensue。 Unfortunately some of those hijinks are related to the fact that witches are generally frowned upon in the current moment, and the possibility that there may be more to their magical family than they knew。 I really liked the art style here, and the story was engaging and kept me interested at every turn。 I'm not sure if I was just reading too fast, but I sometimes found the panels a bit ja This is a cute, at times dark, story about twin witches who miss the bus to magic school and hijinks ensue。 Unfortunately some of those hijinks are related to the fact that witches are generally frowned upon in the current moment, and the possibility that there may be more to their magical family than they knew。 I really liked the art style here, and the story was engaging and kept me interested at every turn。 I'm not sure if I was just reading too fast, but I sometimes found the panels a bit jam-packed, and I think the pacing was off in a few places, but overall, it was really fun。 。。。more

I’d like to thank NetGalley and the publisher for this e-ARC。 All opinions are my own。This story is based on a popular WebToon, written as a Middle Grade Fantasy graphic novel。A pair of twins named Dani and Dorian have magic and miss the bus to magic school。 They can’t go back home because their parents will be mad, so they go to their aunt to ask her to tutor them。 But instead of magic, their aunt makes them do chores, including moving a prisoner of hers。 But when they get to the dungeons, they I’d like to thank NetGalley and the publisher for this e-ARC。 All opinions are my own。This story is based on a popular WebToon, written as a Middle Grade Fantasy graphic novel。A pair of twins named Dani and Dorian have magic and miss the bus to magic school。 They can’t go back home because their parents will be mad, so they go to their aunt to ask her to tutor them。 But instead of magic, their aunt makes them do chores, including moving a prisoner of hers。 But when they get to the dungeons, they cause mischief and it is seen as a betrayal to the other witches。 They escape, and find themselves as apprentices for a well known wizard。 Apparently there is a prophecy that one of them will turn evil so the well known wizard wants to kill them。 Luckily two friends of the twins stop him。 When the king is killed, the prophecy has an increased chance of coming true as a war begins between magic and non-magic people。Throughout the book there are scenes and references to other fairytales, which was cool。 I loved the humor and the story overall! 。。。more

Thank you NetGalley for allowing me to read a digital copy of this book in exchange for a review。 All opinions are my own。This graphic novel's story and pacing were slaphazard, but it was engaging enough for me to be interested in finishing it。 I wish the characters had more depth and fleshed out backgrounds, but it works well as a fun read。 Thank you NetGalley for allowing me to read a digital copy of this book in exchange for a review。 All opinions are my own。This graphic novel's story and pacing were slaphazard, but it was engaging enough for me to be interested in finishing it。 I wish the characters had more depth and fleshed out backgrounds, but it works well as a fun read。 。。。more

I followed the webcomic for Hooky and loved it。 For those not on Webtoons or prefer to read a physical book, you'll love these sweet witches。 If you did follow the webcomic, almost all episodes are here (just missing a few of the side plots), and minor grammar errors have been edited。 I followed the webcomic for Hooky and loved it。 For those not on Webtoons or prefer to read a physical book, you'll love these sweet witches。 If you did follow the webcomic, almost all episodes are here (just missing a few of the side plots), and minor grammar errors have been edited。 。。。more

Webtoons anniversary event, part 7~Saving the best for almost last! This is one of the few webtoons I'm rating in advance, because I'm already so fascinated by it。 I love it!。。。。 It might even dethrone unOrdinary or whatever the other ones are as my new favorite。 The only unfortunate thing is that it will take ages to finish, but honestly, I don't mind, since every episode has way more content than I could ever ask from a Webtoon。。。 the longer it lasts, the better :DAt first, I was just a little Webtoons anniversary event, part 7~Saving the best for almost last! This is one of the few webtoons I'm rating in advance, because I'm already so fascinated by it。 I love it!。。。。 It might even dethrone unOrdinary or whatever the other ones are as my new favorite。 The only unfortunate thing is that it will take ages to finish, but honestly, I don't mind, since every episode has way more content than I could ever ask from a Webtoon。。。 the longer it lasts, the better :DAt first, I was just a little bemused, since its first few episodes were pretty chaotic; it was a mishmash of random events, fairytale references, and a pretty goofy art style。 But once it settled down。。。 oh, it just took off。 We're constantly reminded that they're just children; there's a lot of teasing, fast-paced scenes with jokes and little importance (other than to make me SAD), childhood crushes, and petty grudges。 Nobody is perfect, and they can often be irrational and rude for reasons that make sense only to themselves。 But they're direct; maybe that's the author's style speaking, or maybe it's just because they're young, but it holds nothing back。 Usually, reading distracting shenanigans is just annoying to me because it's just stalling from advancing the main story。 (Pretty obviously too。。) But。。。It strikes a great balance between the good times and the bad times。 I love fantasy, it's pretty much all I read, so I'm definitely biased, but everything ties together so well。 There's a lot of pain they cause each other, and even themselves, because of their decisions, but I can't help but empathize since I can easily see myself doing the same thing。 And at the same time, the terrible destiny that chases them the entire time threatens to overthrow all of it。 Watching how they cope with it, and hopefully overcome it is something I apprehensively look forward to。(view spoiler)[ Welcome to the spoiler section! If you're here, it means you've already read it and know all about thisLSDFLSDKF it's so good it's hard to hold it all in when you're trying not to ruin anything for anyone who might see it。 I've only just gotten to the part where the witches storm the castle at the party, and oh my god poor DaniWatching Dani change has been both cute and heartbreaking at the same time, she has such bright spirits, but not to the point of blind optimism。。。 When she broke down in front of Mark I DIED (but his reaction was perfect, I felt that)。 Everyone wants her to do magic, or understand how cool magic can be, but from her perspective, it really is just too dangerous。 I'm not sure what I'd do if I were her, but that's half the fun of reading。 The last episode had a straight up TRAUMA moment I wasn't ready omg Alex noDorian, skilled with magic, socially a mess, prideful, a little selfish sometimes, and easily makes mistakes but also strangely self-aware。 I have a love-hate relationship with him, kind of like reading unOrdinary and being hurt when someone you love does something incredibly dumb, but I can't help but relate a little。 Okay, maybe a lot。 If I'd had a whole family of angry witches on my back, I might understand。 I just really hope he doesn't become the King of Witches。 I'd actually cryI don't want this review to wind on forever, but I could go on for hours on how much I love this webtoon, the setting, the characters in it, everything。 Monica went from a slightly obnoxious princess to the heroine she'd been reading about so much, not quite but almost unexpectedly。 It was cool watching her transform after everything she went through, and her complicated friendship with Dorian is humorous, but also kind of sad because of the lies on both sides。 Nico is stubborn and kind of dumb sometimes, but he's a good guy, and after hearing what happened to him, it's hard to blame him。 And Mark is such a big lovable oaf oh my god`l。1-= (hide spoiler)]It was almost like watching the Webtoon grow up as its characters did。 I think the author herself confessed it started as just a fun doodle, and then grew into something more as she kept drawing them more and more。 It's rare to read something that feels as genuine as Hooky does, and if anything bad happens to one of the characters I'd love I'd probably just die on the spot。 I'm surprised it hasn't gotten that sidetracked so far, every twist so far has been gripping, and I'm perpetually anxious waiting for something bad to happen that I don't want but know is coming。 If you ever have a chance, you should absolutely read Hooky。 God, if you've already read it, read it again SLFDKKLSKF it's so packed- wait wow it's sold in print too? hold on a moment"I'm bad at hugging, but I'm even worse with words。" -Mark, and now me 。。。more

Another one of my favorites, wouldn't change a thing。 I thought this was going to be an innocent story about kids skipping school, but the plot twists and the characters' development definitely took me through a swift subversion。 A childish story combined with a grim prophecy, I think this is a great fantasy story to read for all ages。 Highly recommend!
