Summary

“Just the thing for a cold winter’s night between episodes。” —The Washington Post Book World

“Fans of the show will undoubtedly enjoy the chance to read Jane’s book in real life。” —Entertainment Weekly

It’s been a lifetime (and three seasons) in the making, but Jane Gloriana Villanueva is finally ready to make her much-anticipated literary debut!

Jane the Virgin, the Golden Globe, AFI, and Peabody Award–winning The CW dramedy, has followed Jane’s telenovela-esque life—from her accidental artificial insemination and virgin birth to the infant kidnapping and murderous games of the villainous Sin Rostro to an enthralling who-will-she-choose love triangle。 With these tumultuous events as inspiration, Jane’s breathtaking first novel adapts her story for a truly epic romance that captures the hope and the heartbreak that have made the television drama so beloved。

Snow Falling is a sweeping historical romance set in 1902 Miami—a time of railroad tycoons, hotel booms, and exciting expansion for the Magic City。 Working at the lavish Regal Sol hotel and newly engaged to Pinkerton Detective Martin Cadden, Josephine Galena Valencia has big dreams for her future。 Then, a figure from her past reemerges to change her life forever: the hotel’s dapper owner, railroad tycoon Rake Solvino。

The captivating robber baron sets her heart aflame once more, leading to a champagne-fueled night together。 But when their indiscretion results in an unexpected complication, Josephine struggles to decide whether her heart truly belongs with heroic Martin or dashing Rake。

Meanwhile, in an effort to capture an elusive crime lord terrorizing the city, Detective Cadden scours the back alleys of the Magic City, tracking the nefarious villain to the Regal Sol and discovering a surprising connection to the Solvino family。

However, just when it looks like Josephine’s true heart’s desire is clear, danger strikes。 Will her dreams for the future dissolve like so much falling snow or might Josephine finally get the happy ever after she’s been dreaming of for so long?

So, obviously I read this because of my love of Jane the Virgin, and I knew it would be cheesy because it was a tie-in book based off a book a TV show character wrote, but man, it was baaaaaaad。 It was basically just season 1 of JTV in one tiny package, sped up, with a 1900s twist。 But honestly? Jane from the show was an immensely better writer than this。 Also, where was all the steamy stuff she was clearly so good at in the show? And I'm pretty sure even Jane would not have been so blatantly talking about her own life through her characters that way, naming the characters so closely to their real life counterparts, and I really think (based off her personality in the show) she would've put more research into the time period to make her story more authentic。 Yes, I get it, it wasn't meant to be a real story, but a goofy book to please fans of the show, but as a fan of the show I think they did Jane dirty by saying she wrote this。 。。。more

I absolutely loved the idea of being able to read the book Jane wrote! Everything about it is made so beautifully and funnily, like Rogelios Review or the thanks to Rafael。 I expected the book to be mostly marketing or just a fun thing to have as a JTV fan, but I was very curious about it so I wanted to read it, it was better than I thought!! The writing is absolutely stunning! And it still is quite interesting to read even if you‘ve seen the series。The only reason I didn’t give the book a 5 sta I absolutely loved the idea of being able to read the book Jane wrote! If you liked Jane the Virgin (the TV series), you might also enjoy this book。 Even though it is at times badly written, it is exactly what you would expect Jane's first novel to be like。 The novel's many parallels with the series are at times hilarious and might make you want to rewatch the show (def happened to me), but if you are looking for a catching romance novel and are not a fan of the show, there are better books out there。 If you liked Jane the Virgin (the TV series), you might also enjoy this book。 Even though it is at times badly written, it is exactly what you would expect Jane's first novel to be like。 The novel's many parallels with the series are at times hilarious and might make you want to rewatch the show (def happened to me), but if you are looking for a catching romance novel and are not a fan of the show, there are better books out there。 。。。more

I watched the show Jane the Virgin, and so I was interested in checking out this book as a companion。 There wasn't anything wrong with the book, but I was a little disappointed that it was pretty much a retelling of the first part of the show。 I was hoping for a few differences, but other than the historical setting, it was pretty much a carbon copy。 For that reason alone, I'm giving it 3 stars。 I watched the show Jane the Virgin, and so I was interested in checking out this book as a companion。 There wasn't anything wrong with the book, but I was a little disappointed that it was pretty much a retelling of the first part of the show。 I was hoping for a few differences, but other than the historical setting, it was pretty much a carbon copy。 For that reason alone, I'm giving it 3 stars。 。。。more

Just had to read -Jane the Virgen fan。

I am not a big romance fan and to be honest, I only read it because of the show Jane the Virgen which I enjoyed very much。 The book has significant meaning for me because of the show and the character who wrote it。 It was a very quick read which I am sure was the intent。 I did catch myself smiling at the cross-references between Josephine and Jane which was nice。 It did pull at my heart a bit with the dedication in front as well。

As a HUGE fan of JTV, I was excited to read “Jane’s” book, but, ultimately, I was left underwhelmed and a bit bored。

Most people in the reviews that I read on Goodreads said the book wasn't that good and you should only read it if you were REALLY obsessed with Jane the virgin but I really loved it I loved the writing and loved that they changed a bunch of things, that there was even some moments that were kinda unexpected and I went like :-O but anyways obviously if you're coming to read this book and haven't watched the show it won't feel the same and you will probably not like it and be confused like where d Most people in the reviews that I read on Goodreads said the book wasn't that good and you should only read it if you were REALLY obsessed with Jane the virgin but I really loved it I loved the writing and loved that they changed a bunch of things, that there was even some moments that were kinda unexpected and I went like :-O but anyways obviously if you're coming to read this book and haven't watched the show it won't feel the same and you will probably not like it and be confused like where did rake's wife go but other than that I loved especially the crime stuff and this book was the one that really made me get into and start liking reading so ya I give it 4 stars maybe I'll change it in the future because this is one of my first books but ya and also to end this review I just wanna say that even thought the bond between Rogelio and Michael didn't feel the same as Ronaldo and martin's bromance everytime they were together in the book I laughed so ya 。。。more

Gabriella

This review has been hidden because it contains spoilers。 To view it, click here。 I liked this book, it was fun to read things that you watched/ heard Jane write about in the show。 I also liked how the book is set during a different time period then the show。 However, I did not like how some characters like Rake weren’t really given and ending。 I know that this book is written earlier during the show so everything in the show doesn’t happen in the book but it felt like Rake was given a quick ending and forgotten about。

3/5⭐️ good book, but a bit slow for me。 Still a really good read:))

I was a fan of the show so thought that this would be an okay read。 Overall it was worse than I thought。 Plot aside (which is basically the first few seasons of the show compressed) the writing style was terrible。

I'm giving this 4 because I had extremely low expectations for it。 After all, it is not a "real" novel in the sense that it went through the same writing process as other novels do — there was already an established story line from Jane and it was based on episodes of the show thus limiting what the actual author, Caridad Piñeiro, could do with it。 For that reason, I think Piñeiro did a wonderful job depicting each of the characters in their own unique way (as Jane would have if this were real) I'm giving this 4 because I had extremely low expectations for it。 After all, it is not a "real" novel in the sense that it went through the same writing process as other novels do — there was already an established story line from Jane and it was based on episodes of the show thus limiting what the actual author, Caridad Piñeiro, could do with it。 For that reason, I think Piñeiro did a wonderful job depicting each of the characters in their own unique way (as Jane would have if this were real) while also making them greatly resemble their fictional counterparts from JTV。 While it's not comparable to a typical romance novel, I am a huge Jane fan and it felt like I was imagining those imaginary novel "flashbacks" Jane has in the show so I loved reading this。 I think the harsh ratings need to consider that this book was supposed to be the story Jane wanted with Michael so it is extremely similar to the show。 。。。more

This review has been hidden because it contains spoilers。 To view it, click here。 Was SUPER excited to read this because I absolutely loved Jane the Virgin。 I really liked connecting the characters and scenes of the books with how they happened in the actual show。 I have always been Team Rafael and I was kind of rooting for him here too。 But it makes sense why she ended up with "Michael" because in the show, Jane obviously wanted them to have their happy ending。 I really enjoyed the book, but it is no where near as good as Jane the Virgin。 Was SUPER excited to read this because I absolutely loved Jane the Virgin。 I really liked connecting the characters and scenes of the books with how they happened in the actual show。 I have always been Team Rafael and I was kind of rooting for him here too。 But it makes sense why she ended up with "Michael" because in the show, Jane obviously wanted them to have their happy ending。 I really enjoyed the book, but it is no where near as good as Jane the Virgin。 。。。more

This was sooooo cute!I have so much love for the Jane the Virgin series, so as soon as I knew there was a book of the book that Jane writes in the series, I had to get my hands on it。 Saying that, it took me a very long time to get round to actually reading it, and I don't know why it did!
