Summary

Poetry and prose to encourage us to grow。 Watering the Soul is a timeless reminder that everyone needs time, love, and forgiveness。

In the deepest, most enchanting part of the forest, a creature hands you a seed。 Within the seed is your soul, ready to be grown again。

From internationally bestselling author Courtney Peppernell comes her new book of poetry and prose, Watering the Soul。 In true Peppernell style, the book is divided into sections, this time following a step-by-step recipe, to heal your soul。 Filled with themes that focus on forgiveness, gratitude, togetherness, and equality, Peppernell takes you on a journey to find a precious yet profound understanding; that a seed is not grown with haste and nor is becoming whole, that in each and every step, we find the meaning of watering the soul。

This is the story of your soul and how it can be grown again。

I really enjoyed the entire book - great poetry collection for growing。 I liked the sketches that went with the division of sections。

The ARC of this book was provided by the publisher via NetGalley in exchange for an honest review。I enjoyed this lovely piece by Peppernell, I've just started to read poetry and I found this to be so calming that whenever I needed a peace of mind or to calm down, This copy was the first thing that came to mind to bring me back to a calm mind。 I wish I'll be able to find peace on my own like that one day。 The ARC of this book was provided by the publisher via NetGalley in exchange for an honest review。I enjoyed this lovely piece by Peppernell, I've just started to read poetry and I found this to be so calming that whenever I needed a peace of mind or to calm down, This copy was the first thing that came to mind to bring me back to a calm mind。 I wish I'll be able to find peace on my own like that one day。 。。。more

In English:"Watering the Soul" is a volume of poetry that contains short and long poems as well as short texts。 It is divided into 9 chapters that describe how to "grow" your soul, and the poems in each section fit thematically with the headings。 They are primarily about forgiving yourself, taking care of yourself and your mental health, and also being considerate towards other people。 But also topics such as love, separation pain and loss as well as depression and hopelessness are addressed。 Each chapter is accompanied by a beautiful drawing。Despite its sometimes difficult, sad subjects, this volume of poetry is a book that gives hope and happiness。 It teaches the reader to pause, be good to themselves, and never give up。 I really liked these poems and texts。 They were very touching and sometimes painful, but always encouraging and hopeful。 Although each poem stands on its own, one could partially recognize a development within the chapters。 The book as a whole, with its poems and pictures, tells the story of a healing and how one can take care of one's soul and let it get well。 Everyone will find a section here that describes their own pain and provides relief through comforting words。Conclusion:Wonderful, healing poems that have touched me deeply and give courage to pause and take care of yourself more often in your life。 Highly recommended 4。5 stars。 。。。more

Thank you to NetGalley and the publishers and authors for this ARC。 This book was amazing。 My expectations for poetry books are very high and, to be honest, I didn't expect this book to meet them。 But holy sh*t- this book exceeded them in every manageable way。 I tried to savor the ARC because the book was genuinely so wholesome and sweet, and felt like a warm hug or a cup of hot chocolate。 The prose and poetry were separated into specific "steps" or sections, each about a different part of one's Thank you to NetGalley and the publishers and authors for this ARC。 This book was amazing。 My expectations for poetry books are very high and, to be honest, I didn't expect this book to meet them。 But holy sh*t- this book exceeded them in every manageable way。 I tried to savor the ARC because the book was genuinely so wholesome and sweet, and felt like a warm hug or a cup of hot chocolate。 The prose and poetry were separated into specific "steps" or sections, each about a different part of one's healing journey。 My personal favorites were "Take a Breath" and "Forgive Your Mistakes"; each part felt like it pried a bit of my soul open and mended it, one stanza at a time。 As cheesy as that sounds, this book was genuinely amazing。 I found myself raving about Peppernell's writing to my friends, telling them how much they NEED to buy it and devour it once it comes out。 Some of the poems or pieces of prose felt a little preachy or like a motivational quote, but they were few and far between。 Critically- excluding the emotional factor- it would’ve been a 3 star collection, but taking into account how genuinely healing the collection was, I bumped it up to four。 Overall, this prose and poetry book was phenomenal and is great to pick up whenever you're in need of comforting! 。。。more

I have enjoyed Courtney Peppernell's past books, but this collection doesn't bring anything new。 She has good advice, and you can tell that she's compassionate while sharing it。 I believe she means every word, and it comes through in her writing。 However, most of this is repetitive without a ton of structure。 That being said, if you are new to her work, this might be worth picking up。 It would make a good gift book to somebody who’s having a hard time or who is new to the world of self-help/insp I have enjoyed Courtney Peppernell's past books, but this collection doesn't bring anything new。 She has good advice, and you can tell that she's compassionate while sharing it。 I believe she means every word, and it comes through in her writing。 However, most of this is repetitive without a ton of structure。 That being said, if you are new to her work, this might be worth picking up。 It would make a good gift book to somebody who’s having a hard time or who is new to the world of self-help/inspirational poetry。 (I don’t think this is poetry, it’s more like small blocks of prose。) The drawings are really cute and charming。 Overall, this was a miss for me, but there are definite positive qualities to this book and I believe it will find its audience。 Thank you to NetGalley for providing me with an eARC in exchange for an honest review。 。。。more

This was my third attempt at reading one of Peppernell’s poetry collections, and the third time wasn’t the charm in this case。The book was a strange mix between poetry and a self-help。 The writing was pretty simple and the themes repetitive。The sentences were chopped up at random in that classic tumblr poetry style, an absolute pet peeve of mine。In the end I just couldn’t connect with the poetry and got bored of reading basically the same thing every few pages。[I received a free copy from the pu This was my third attempt at reading one of Peppernell’s poetry collections, and the third time wasn’t the charm in this case。The book was a strange mix between poetry and a self-help。 The writing was pretty simple and the themes repetitive。The sentences were chopped up at random in that classic tumblr poetry style, an absolute pet peeve of mine。In the end I just couldn’t connect with the poetry and got bored of reading basically the same thing every few pages。[I received a free copy from the publisher in exchange for an honest review。] 。。。more

A collection of pieces illustrating how loneliness and darkness can creep in when a soul is left broken and without nurturing; the height of the writing though, is the small sparks of progress some so small they are hard to detect, but all eventually catch and return the soul back to its once brilliant state。 Courtney reflects on her own hardships and loss of self in a way that resonates, and reinforces the notion that a soul lost is a soul worth nurturing back to its original glory。

This book was a truly beautiful expression of what it means to nurture your heart and soul。 Even in moments of anguish, when the world is bleak, there is purpose and worth, and the author does a wonderful job exploring that。 I have been, as I embark on my own path of healing, actively searching for books and other media to support that process。 When I came across this ARC, I was drawn to it for that very purpose。 And, it did not disappoint。 It was poignant and timely and emotionally helpful。 Thi This book was a truly beautiful expression of what it means to nurture your heart and soul。 Even in moments of anguish, when the world is bleak, there is purpose and worth, and the author does a wonderful job exploring that。 I have been, as I embark on my own path of healing, actively searching for books and other media to support that process。 When I came across this ARC, I was drawn to it for that very purpose。 And, it did not disappoint。 It was poignant and timely and emotionally helpful。 This book was filled with bits of beauty, hope, togetherness, and wisdom。 It left me feeling lighter, it made me feel seen。 Overall, this was a really enjoyable book of poetry, perfect for fans of Nikita Gill and Rupi Kaur。 Thank you NetGalley and Courtney Peppernell for allowing me to read this ARC。 You can find my review here, Goodreads, and Instagram at @samwisereads。 。。。more
