I loved how this volume wasn't as fast-paced as the previous ones, how it allowed us to chill for a bit and learn about Elias, Lindeman and magi in general。 Chise finally looks like she is going to develop as a character, so that's reassuring。 I loved how this volume wasn't as fast-paced as the previous ones, how it allowed us to chill for a bit and learn about Elias, Lindeman and magi in general。 Chise finally looks like she is going to develop as a character, so that's reassuring。 。。。more

Read more graphic novel reviews at The Graphic Library。Master Lindel, the mage who trained Elias, invites Chise back to the dragon sanctuary to work on her wand。 While there, Lindel tells Chise of the time he met Elias。 Elias was a wandering creature walking through the woods, and Lindel offered him food and to take him back to his master, where they tried to ascertain what he was, and where he was given the name Elias。 Elias has no memory of a time before he was walking through the woods, but Read more graphic novel reviews at The Graphic Library。Master Lindel, the mage who trained Elias, invites Chise back to the dragon sanctuary to work on her wand。 While there, Lindel tells Chise of the time he met Elias。 Elias was a wandering creature walking through the woods, and Lindel offered him food and to take him back to his master, where they tried to ascertain what he was, and where he was given the name Elias。 Elias has no memory of a time before he was walking through the woods, but he confesses to Lindel that he thinks he may have eaten humans at one point。 Lindel tells this as a caution to Chise, and so that she will have the courage to speak up to Elias and ask questions of him。 Once her wand is complete, Chise uses it to travel back home with every intention of confronting Elias and making him open up to her about himself and about magic。This story provided much-needed background information on Elias, as well as an opportunity to see Chise on her own as a leading lady。 In previous volumes, and again in this one, other characters point out how much of a backseat Chise has taken to her own life, allowing Elias to usher her from place to place, dictating her daily schedule and her knowledge of magic。 In this volume, Lindel lets Chise take lead on making her wand and exploring the magic that goes into it。 I’ve hoped, after reading previous volumes, that Chise become her own character, and this was a nice glimpse into what could be, and hopefully will be。Sara's Rating: 8/10Suitability Level: Grades 8-12 。。。more

The relationship deepens! I love how their relationship has grown, how they are discovering how to be with each other and to rely on each other。 Plus, sleepy Elias is love!

The story has officially gone into Twilight territory。 (view spoiler)[Yes, the whole "Oh, you're so tasty I can barely control my inner monster" type of deal。 (hide spoiler)] Really not my cup of tea when it comes to romance。The author has mentioned on her notes at the end of the volumes that she's basically winging the plot and making things up as she goes。 It does feel that way。 I couldn't be bothered to go fact check it but I think now that more information about Elias' past is revealed it do The story has officially gone into Twilight territory。 (view spoiler)[Yes, the whole "Oh, you're so tasty I can barely control my inner monster" type of deal。 (hide spoiler)] Really not my cup of tea when it comes to romance。The author has mentioned on her notes at the end of the volumes that she's basically winging the plot and making things up as she goes。 It does feel that way。 I couldn't be bothered to go fact check it but I think now that more information about Elias' past is revealed it doesn't entirely fit with all that has been mentioned in the beginning。 I also think there's a few anachronisms now that the magus backstory is being explored。 I'm aware this is no historical novel, of course, but I noticed it anyway and gives me the impression the author hasn't fleshed the story out very well。 Probably one the volumes I enjoyed the least。 。。。more

So I binged the first four volumes of this in a night。 I am really enjoying the world building and the interesting characters。 This is already an incredibly fast paced story and I'm very curious about the cast of characters already assembled and all of the magic/folklore throughout。 So I binged the first four volumes of this in a night。 I am really enjoying the world building and the interesting characters。 This is already an incredibly fast paced story and I'm very curious about the cast of characters already assembled and all of the magic/folklore throughout。 。。。more

As I keep reading this series, this reminds me why I love manga。There's a great slow burn in the pacing in the story that works here along with the hints of dark, magic and fantasy and the characterizations of the each character slowly coming into their own。Lindel, being that gossip of a friend, has just given me and Chise a great look into Elias' past which has only intrigued me more to know about him。 I love that bone-head and the fact that other characters see him in a similar light is just s As I keep reading this series, this reminds me why I love manga。There's a great slow burn in the pacing in the story that works here along with the hints of dark, magic and fantasy and the characterizations of the each character slowly coming into their own。Lindel, being that gossip of a friend, has just given me and Chise a great look into Elias' past which has only intrigued me more to know about him。 I love that bone-head and the fact that other characters see him in a similar light is just so much fun to me because it definitely telling of his character。 。。。more

I am really loving where this manga is going I like learning more about Chise and Elias。 I still really love the characters especially Chise and Elias I like their relationship it is a great family like relationship that may grow over time。 I really liked that I learned more about both Chise and Elias at little about Chise's family and more on how Elias came to be。 I am really liking the plot it picked up from where it left off and told many great things about both Elias and Chise。 So overall I I am really loving where this manga is going I like learning more about Chise and Elias。 I still really love the characters especially Chise and Elias I like their relationship it is a great family like relationship that may grow over time。 I really liked that I learned more about both Chise and Elias at little about Chise's family and more on how Elias came to be。 I am really liking the plot it picked up from where it left off and told many great things about both Elias and Chise。 So overall I loved this volume of the story will continue it sometime soon。 。。。more

Not sad! Beyond sweet!!Chise got her wand finally!! And she gets to see Nivel again and they had a very intense conversation about feelings and what they mean。Some sheep get shaved, and then even more emotional things happen but no one is almost murdered。 There is just lots of communication happening。

While I truly admire the slow and caring romance that progresses in unrushed increments, I find everything else to be too slow moving。 The characters and magic are interesting enough, but I’m struggling with keeping my interest in reading this longer than a few chapters at once。 At least with this volume it doesn’t end in a crazy cliffhanger so I might manage letting myself slip away from this series for a bit。 I just really want to know more about Elias。
