This book is a really good, it was one of the first books that got me into reading Manga/ watching Anime。 I enjoy the content and how the book was written。 The Auther did an amazing job。 Thank you so much for making this book。

Cute, but I feel like I havent learned anything (or almost anything) about the world of this manga

I am already addicted!

The anime was beautiful and the story is intriguing enough。 However, her intention as this centuries old being's bride is kind of cringe。 The anime was beautiful and the story is intriguing enough。 However, her intention as this centuries old being's bride is kind of cringe。 。。。more

Enthralling opening to the series though it does move at a faster pace in places without providing much background。

Valeria

I’m obsessed with this one

3。5 stars。 Quality artwork, but I’m apprehensive on the story… I think it is interesting that both alchemy and magic are both present in this world but are considered completely differentThe rest of the world building is great; I love how magical creatures are depicted, described, and how all their personalities are different。However, I am concerned with the romance aspect of this story

Beautiful art combined with a dark, romantic, and magic filled fairy tale made this first volume a delightful read。 That cliff hanger at the end makes me wish I already had the second volume。 Trigger warning for suicide, human trafficking, and animal abuse。

Natosha

The story is very current。

Tani

It was mostly entertaining but I think it will get better once she starts using magic。

Kiley

I wanted to read a manga full of magic and fairytale, and I got it! Chise is a young orphan who gets sold to a mage。 I really like how the author has the reader feeling what Chise is feeling and thinking。 There were times when I felt in the dark and confused like Chise did, and there were times where I felt like I was figuring things out。 The author really puts the reader in Chise’s shoes, and I cant wait to keep reading more。

Magic and fairies and ghouls。。。。。。 oh my!I really do enjoy a new graphic novel series and an original Manga series really fits the bill! I really like the layouts in this one - easy to read with easy flow。 Plus the action portions aren't accompanied with 'zow' or 'bam' or 'zingggg' or 。。。。whatever。 You get the idea! And the intermittent small frames of simple drawing that were perfect to punctuate and aid the flow。Not sure where this is going as far as a story line, but having a rescued waif bou Magic and fairies and ghouls。。。。。。 oh my!I really do enjoy a new graphic novel series and an original Manga series really fits the bill! The human trafficking and child bride aspects are very disturbing and generally glossed over。 Apart from that, the world-building is interesting, the art is beautiful, and Ainsworth treats Chise well, apart from bathing her himself。 I'm curious enough to continue but definitely concerned about the pedophilic aspect。 The human trafficking and child bride aspects are very disturbing and generally glossed over。 Apart from that, the world-building is interesting, the art is beautiful, and Ainsworth treats Chise well, apart from bathing her himself。 I'm curious enough to continue but definitely concerned about the pedophilic aspect。 。。。more

A++++++++++++++++++++I've never read a manga or seen an anime that made me fall in love with the world more than this one。 I honestly think the world is the best thing about this series。 A++++++++++++++++++++I've never read a manga or seen an anime that made me fall in love with the world more than this one。 I honestly think the world is the best thing about this series。 。。。more

Fairly typical story, for Japan, well done。 Girl with magical powers is bought by a rich, handsome, magical skeleton who wishes to train her -- and marry her。 He then takes her to see other players in the magical world, and you get the first meetings with the nemesis。 She seems happy with it, if a bit in wonderland。 The marriage bit is a little creepy, given the ages and the power dynamic, but this is a Japanese romance so there is nothing out of the ordinary here。

El dibujo es precioso, el personaje de Elías es tan misterioso y atrayente, Chise parece inexpresiva pero vas con ella descubriendo el mundo y también su sentir ante diversas situaciones。

Book: The Ancient Magus Bride, Volume 1Author: Kore Yamazaki Rating: 4 Out of 5 Stars This is actually the first manga I have read and I must say I found it rather enjoyable。 I suppose I better。 I picked up volumes 1-12 at our library’s used book sale。 I was actually looking for something different and I found it here。 At first, I was a little unsure, but the more I read, the more I found myself getting lost in both the characters and the story。 I read a lot of fantasy。 As of late, high fantasy Book: The Ancient Magus Bride, Volume 1Author: Kore Yamazaki Rating: 4 Out of 5 Stars This is actually the first manga I have read and I must say I found it rather enjoyable。 I suppose I better。 I picked up volumes 1-12 at our library’s used book sale。 I was actually looking for something different and I found it here。 At first, I was a little unsure, but the more I read, the more I found myself getting lost in both the characters and the story。 I read a lot of fantasy。 As of late, high fantasy just really hasn’t been doing it for me。 I was actually kind of worried that maybe I was falling out of love with the genre。 However, this pulled me right back in。 We start out in Japan with Chise, who is being sold at a slave market。 She is bought by a mage-not just to be his slave, but to his bride。 After he takes her back to his home in Britain, we learn that Chise isn’t just a human girl, but a sleigh buggy with a lot of power。 From here, the action and the adventures start。 We have fairies, dragons, and talking cats-not mention a lot of bad stuff that happens along the way。 While the overall is nothing new, it kept me hooked and I just had to know what was going to happen。 I found the characters to be rather interesting from the get go。 Anytime you give me a story with a character who discovers they have magical powers, you are going to hook me。 I love the idea of a character with an unknown past discovering that they hold these magical powers。 I love following their journey of learning how to wield these powers and see where it takes them。 I know, I know, this is nothing new, but it gets me every time。 Chise cheeks all of these boxes。 What I really like about her character is that she’s not perfect at it。 We see her struggle with her powers and trying to make sense of the world。 We, as the reader, learn about the world through her eyes and get to experience it with her。 We can also see her past has done a lot of damage to her and she is also trying to deal with that whole aspect of her life。 Until Elias comes along, she is essentially an unwanted and unloved girl。 It only makes sense that comes along as almost worshipping him。 I will admit it took me a little bit to get into Elias’s character。 I thought he was going to come off as rather standoffish, but he proved me wrong。 Granted, we get to see his character through Chise’s eyes。 We know he is a mage of great power and has a lot of responsibility, but we really don’t know that much about him。 Like the actual world and magic, we are learning about it through Chise’s experience。 He is teaching her all that she needs to know about the world。 We can see that he holds himself with a sense of dignity and intelligence。 We know that he is also very well-known and respected in just the magical world, but by humans as well。 We think that he is telling Chise everything, but he drops the ultimate bombshell on her and us: He bough her to be his wife。 I have a feeling that the more I read of this series, the darker and more unforgiving the world is going to be。 I understand that there is an anime of this。 Normally anime and I don’t mesh very well, but I my watch it after I make my way through the manga。 Like I said earlier, this is my first time reading a manga, so I don’t know how it compares to others, but I know I found myself highly interested in this first volume and reading the second one。 。。。more

Emotionally damaged Pixie Dream Girl learns solitary-eclectic Wicca and wortcunning from the autistic King of Cubones as she slowly falls in like with him。 This manga speaks to the part of my psyche that was irreparably damaged by Disney's Beauty and the Beast (1991) and tugs at the heartstrings of the little girl within in me who still so desperately wishes Harry Potter to be real。 I'm on Volume 6 now and I shan't be stopping。 Emotionally damaged Pixie Dream Girl learns solitary-eclectic Wicca and wortcunning from the autistic King of Cubones as she slowly falls in like with him。 This manga speaks to the part of my psyche that was irreparably damaged by Disney's Beauty and the Beast (1991) and tugs at the heartstrings of the little girl within in me who still so desperately wishes Harry Potter to be real。 I'm on Volume 6 now and I shan't be stopping。 。。。more

I now have a new favorite manga series。 Chise had no idea what was going on and the Ariels are weird looking creatures and I wish I could be like Chise because of the magic, the Ariels are cool, and I think Ainsworth is really cool。 Favorite Characters, Ainsworth, Chise, and The Old Dragon who turned into a tree。 He was nice to Chise and he looked really cool。
