I am setting myself up for pain。 Chihiro supremacy and Rei was pissing me off towards the end。 Bro if you don’t just communicate your feelings :/// oh am I’m also a sucker for summer festivities in manga especially shojo <3

This series doesn't do anything new or special, but it does it so amazingly well that it really doesn't matter。 This series doesn't do anything new or special, but it does it so amazingly well that it really doesn't matter。 。。。more

Chihiro has a crush on Nanami and I'm equal parts ecstatic and waiting on the heartbreak because I think they'd be really cute together, but this is shojo and Nanami likes Rei。 (And Rei likes her from those sidelong glances) So unless the author actually flips the standard script, Nanami and Rei are going to get together。But in the meantime we get to meet Chihiro's little brother and sister and we still have Kotaro and his floofy corgi butt~ Also, there's a classic romantic feelings misunder Chihiro has a crush on Nanami and I'm equal parts ecstatic and waiting on the heartbreak because I think they'd be really cute together, but this is shojo and Nanami likes Rei。 (And Rei likes her from those sidelong glances) So unless the author actually flips the standard script, Nanami and Rei are going to get together。But in the meantime we get to meet Chihiro's little brother and sister and we still have Kotaro and his floofy corgi butt~ Also, there's a classic romantic feelings misunderstanding trope going on (Rei thinks Nanami likes Chihiro) and the writing on it is on point。 Most versions of that trope are annoying and stupid but this one *chef's kiss* 。。。more

This vol gave us a closer glimpse into the two love interests’ family lives in an attempt to give the characters some more depth。 I’d argue it didn’t go far enough but I imagine that was intentional as it was trying to drag out the love interests’ mysterious background for as long as possible。Once again the new setting coupled with the summer holidays timing was perfect for more confrontations and relationship developments。 Yet, I felt as though either things were moving too slowly or the volume This vol gave us a closer glimpse into the two love interests’ family lives in an attempt to give the characters some more depth。 I’d argue it didn’t go far enough but I imagine that was intentional as it was trying to drag out the love interests’ mysterious background for as long as possible。Once again the new setting coupled with the summer holidays timing was perfect for more confrontations and relationship developments。 Yet, I felt as though either things were moving too slowly or the volume was too short and needed another chapter to try and better round off the plot of this arc because it felt unfinished and ended abruptly。 。。。more

In this volume, we finally discover a little bit more about Chihiro’s family, we’ve been hearing about them since the first volume, so it was about time。 Midori is the first one who doesn’t judge him right away because of this, so it’s normal that she holds a special place in his heart。 Moreover, the twins were the cutest! I must say that Yoko Nogiri writes pretty well sibling relationships (Kon + Midori) and it’s nice to see normal relationships and not overprotective ones like I’ve seen in oth In this volume, we finally discover a little bit more about Chihiro’s family, we’ve been hearing about them since the first volume, so it was about time。 Midori is the first one who doesn’t judge him right away because of this, so it’s normal that she holds a special place in his heart。 Moreover, the twins were the cutest! I must say that Yoko Nogiri writes pretty well sibling relationships (Kon + Midori) and it’s nice to see normal relationships and not overprotective ones like I’ve seen in other manga。Rei and Midori are slowly growing closer。 Just like Midori, I liked that Rei apologized for the way he acted towards her when they first met。 Even though it’s in the past, and that Midori doesn’t care about it, I still think it’s important to apologize when one does something wrong。 One way or another, it does influence the present。However, I do feel bad Chihiro since he knows that his feelings won’t be returned。 I just hope that it won’t create drama between the boys in future volumes, since it’s something I hate in manga。 My heart broke for him, it’s the worst feeling ever when you realize the person you like, actually likes your best friend。 But I’m really impressed by his reaction, it was mature and drama-free。I see trouble and misunderstanding coming in future volumes, and I don’t want it。 I hate discord among groups of friends because of romance。 The end though!! I can’t wait to read the sequel。 。。。more

Rating: 3。5I was excited to see that my library had this one available as I have read the first two and wanted to continue on with the series。 I’m not going to lie, this was my least favorite of the three so far。Nanami is still hanging with the boys but this time they need tutoring, but mostly Chihiro。 Since we found out that he likes her his actions have been very awkward when she is around but I like that Nanami doesn’t see it and it just makes it a bit more humorous。 Although I do feel sad fo Rating: 3。5I was excited to see that my library had this one available as I have read the first two and wanted to continue on with the series。 I’m not going to lie, this was my least favorite of the three so far。Nanami is still hanging with the boys but this time they need tutoring, but mostly Chihiro。 Since we found out that he likes her his actions have been very awkward when she is around but I like that Nanami doesn’t see it and it just makes it a bit more humorous。 Although I do feel sad for him since it seems that the girls always flock to the other two and not him。The love triangle is still going strong but it’s more or less unrequited love from Nanami to Chihiro。 I will say that the development between Rei and Nanami isn’t a favorite because it just seems rushed as we are only through vol。 3 and I feel like their confession is coming in the next one。 They are still cute though。 I love his dog Kota!I did like that the boys got to try their hands at actually making money on their own。 I liked seeing them work together and also seeing how Chihiro takes care of his siblings。 It was sweet。Overall, it was good but there are overused tropes that aren’t as developed as I’d like。 I am still looking forward to continuing this series though。 。。。more

Nanami winds up tutoring the boys as Chihiro’s grades have him in danger of spending summer chained to a desk。 Helpfully this also lets Ieiri push his own agenda of getting the two of them together。 Before you can say ‘summer festival’, however, it’s time for all the cliches and shaved ice you can handle!Okay, this isn’t as good as the last volume, let me be clear。 And I’m more than happy to note the irony of having just finished the quite good Blue Flag, which shows what can happen when people Nanami winds up tutoring the boys as Chihiro’s grades have him in danger of spending summer chained to a desk。 Helpfully this also lets Ieiri push his own agenda of getting the two of them together。 Before you can say ‘summer festival’, however, it’s time for all the cliches and shaved ice you can handle!Okay, this isn’t as good as the last volume, let me be clear。 And I’m more than happy to note the irony of having just finished the quite good Blue Flag, which shows what can happen when people talk about their feelings, and then reading this book where 95% of problems are caused by not being upfront and making lots (and lots) of assumptions。However, this is still a damn fun read and I really like this series even when it is gobbling down tropes so fast it’s like happy hour for the Shojo Manga Drinking Game。 It still has that nugget of originality in the background that I hope to see teased out sooner rather than later, but this crew is fun to spend time with。 If you’re not going to write original, write well。Points for the humour this time around, which squeezes some very funny bits out of some serious mundanity。 Nanami getting shoved aside by a gaggle of female fans trying to make time with the guys, some very adorable Corgi antics (the Queen would approve!), at least one person knowing how to leverage the boys’ sex appeal to sell goods, and the boys’ incredibly poor aptitude for blue-collar work。Between the tutoring sessions and the vacation they all end up on (it makes perfect sense in context, trust me), there are endless chances for things to be horribly misconstrued and, naturally, they are。 I do love how Ichijo takes something the wrong way, gets super petulant, and also gets thrown completely off his spoon game。Where this book does go off the beaten path is where it gets to be its most interesting。 Chihiro definitely has designs on Nanami, but it becomes pretty clear that he’s not the one she’s interested in and it doesn’t get drawn into this huge thing (yet, I mean, provided somebody else doesn’t start meddling again)。 He knows that his overtures aren’t going to be reciprocated and he actually accepts this。 Madness! And, in one of the most shocking moments, Ichijo apologizes for how he treated Nanami when they first met。 Two volumes later no less! Tropes or no tropes, it’s hard not to enjoy somebody taking responsibility for being a butt earlier on。3 stars, maybe 3。5 honestly, but I’m not rounding it up because it’s not yet following up on what I was interested in from the last time。 Don’t get me wrong, however, in a world beset by all these tropes there are much more banal manga you could be reading。 A nice, light read, as befits a book focused on summer vacation。 。。。more

I want to like this so much but it's getting pointless to even continue buying this series without very much substance or conflict in the volumes 。 While the characters remain sweet and the art work is enjoyably fun, I can not survive on those things alone。。。 I want to like this so much but it's getting pointless to even continue buying this series without very much substance or conflict in the volumes 。 While the characters remain sweet and the art work is enjoyably fun, I can not survive on those things alone。。。 。。。more
