The book mentions a number of real life unsolved murder cases, from the Black Dahlia to Jon Benet Ramsey to Tupac Shakur and Biggie Smalls, plus some lesser known ones。 Basically they are brief summaries of the cases, who was murdered and what their lives had been like, how the police had failed to solve the cases, who were the likely suspects and why some of them were ruled out or never caught, and the effects these murders had on the people and communities involved。Each article is no more than The book mentions a number of real life unsolved murder cases, from the Black Dahlia to Jon Benet Ramsey to Tupac Shakur and Biggie Smalls, plus some lesser known ones。 Basically they are brief summaries of the cases, who was murdered and what their lives had been like, how the police had failed to solve the cases, who were the likely suspects and why some of them were ruled out or never caught, and the effects these murders had on the people and communities involved。Each article is no more than a few pages long with side notes and a few pictures, though not showing graphic pictures of the murder scenes。 You find out little about each case; the book works as an introduction, but if you want more details, you will have to search elsewhere。 。。。more

This was a great collection of some of the world's most famous (and also some less well-known) unsolved murders。 Carefully covering every suspect at the time, I found the book often lead me to come to my own conclusions about who was guilty and I'm not sure if this was intentional。 It also made me very happy that the murders covered were in chronological order! DNF towards the end, just same old stories I’ve read a million times

This covered many of the unsolved murders you have heard of, but also thankfully some that are not as common。 I was interested in learning some details about cases I was unfamiliar with, where the different theories and case studies took investigators, and what exactly lead to becoming Cold Cases。 TW - just about anything you can think of in a variety of cases with brutal murder。

A no nonsense factual true story crime book which makes you think about who you think did the crimes。 Loved the fact the book came with a few pictures of crime scenes and people involved as suspects etc。 Clever small book to get you thinking。

This covered some well-known cases but explored them in greater detail and included some new (to me) ones as well。 Some of the pictures were a bit graphic for me as I didn't quite expect to actually see the bodies but overall it's worth checking out if you enjoy true crime。 This covered some well-known cases but explored them in greater detail and included some new (to me) ones as well。 Some of the pictures were a bit graphic for me as I didn't quite expect to actually see the bodies but overall it's worth checking out if you enjoy true crime。 。。。more

While this did introduce me to several murders I hadn't heard of before, Lynne Harper and Julia Wallace, for example, this never felt more than a Buzzfeed-esque article turned into a coffee table book。 While this did introduce me to several murders I hadn't heard of before, Lynne Harper and Julia Wallace, for example, this never felt more than a Buzzfeed-esque article turned into a coffee table book。 。。。more

A quick and concise read。 The book gives an insight on around 20 unsolved murders; some of which I have already heard like The Black Dahlia, Tupac Notorious BIG murders and The Zodiac Killer thanks to the movies。 It gives the users high level view into the crime and the suspects and how it progressed。 For a 200 odd pages book; this is really good。 Detailed case sheets and profiling are not present。 Overall a good read。 The language used is good and understandable and there is no graphic content A quick and concise read。 The book gives an insight on around 20 unsolved murders; some of which I have already heard like The Black Dahlia, Tupac Notorious BIG murders and The Zodiac Killer thanks to the movies。 It gives the users high level view into the crime and the suspects and how it progressed。 For a 200 odd pages book; this is really good。 Detailed case sheets and profiling are not present。 Overall a good read。 The language used is good and understandable and there is no graphic content present so this can be read by all。 。。。more

When you have enough of terrible crime fiction read some true crime。 Basic but readable introduction to many known and less known unsolved crimes。 Not bad at all。

A few pages on each case , enough to peak your interest to read more about them in other books I’d say

This is a pretty good factual read。 It compiles the "knowns" of these various true cases very nicely。 But still, I found myself wanting more exacting details; More of the little, if insignificant, details of the incident; as small a thing as it might have been。 Sometimes, it seems to me, that with these "unsolveds" the truth is often times revealed in smallest detail that connect a web of obscure clues together。 Also, I was wanting more pictures/photos of suspects, victims in life, and crime sce This is a pretty good factual read。 It compiles the "knowns" of these various true cases very nicely。 But still, I found myself wanting more exacting details; More of the little, if insignificant, details of the incident; as small a thing as it might have been。 Sometimes, it seems to me, that with these "unsolveds" the truth is often times revealed in smallest detail that connect a web of obscure clues together。 Also, I was wanting more pictures/photos of suspects, victims in life, and crime scenes。 But undoubtedly that would add to the page count。Overall, I'd say, a very good volume concerning unsolved true crime。 。。。more

Flows like listening to a true crime podcast, which is understandable as the authors are true crime podcast presenters。 Interesting looks at 20 well known, and not so well known, unsolved crimes。 Sometimes a little too overly factual and less fleshed out in presenting the big picture than it could have been。

RhiaRose

I am very familiar with all but two of these cases。 I liked the photos and diagrams。 Overall though, I was disappointed with the lack of details。 It was more of a “someone died and here are the suspects” as opposed to “this is what happened and these are the clues and possible suspects。”

Hunt seemed annoyed at the incompetency of those working on the cases, and I love it。

Several intriguing cases that were new to me as well as good writeups of the others I had heard about。

Bad choice of cases。 Basically went for recent popular stuff that is barely a mystery and really old (for true crime, i would consider that pre 60's)。 Nothing here that is surprising or new Bad choice of cases。 Basically went for recent popular stuff that is barely a mystery and really old (for true crime, i would consider that pre 60's)。 Nothing here that is surprising or new 。。。more

InformativeA compelling and Well written rundown of some of the most infamous unsolved cases in history。 Some I already knew about, some I didnt 。 Overall, I greatly enjoyed reading this book and would recommend it。

Probably a 3。5。 Pros: Captivating, well compiled and punchy。Cons: the writing style is at times a little stale and indirect。

A solid true crime compendium which covers each case efficiently in a handful of pages。 It was interesting to see some less high profile investigations included too。It made me angry with Michael Peterson all over again though and the ridiculous owl theory in particular。 Makes total sense that Kathleen would be outside in the middle of the night, somehow freaking out a territorial owl and staggering through the house with head lacerations without leaving a drop of blood, just to die at the bottom A solid true crime compendium which covers each case efficiently in a handful of pages。 It was interesting to see some less high profile investigations included too。It made me angry with Michael Peterson all over again though and the ridiculous owl theory in particular。 Makes total sense that Kathleen would be outside in the middle of the night, somehow freaking out a territorial owl and staggering through the house with head lacerations without leaving a drop of blood, just to die at the bottom of the stairs。Few cases work me up like this one。 Peterson should have died in prison (just my own opinion)。 。。。more
