'A joyful, hilarious and heart-warming tale of the challenges we face when we sign up to be part of someone else's life' Beth O'Leary

The irresistible new standalone novel from No。 1 bestselling author Sophie Kinsella。

I love you 。 。 。 but what if I can't love your life?

Ava is sick of online dating。 She's always trusted her own instincts over an algorithm, anyway, and she wants a break from it all。 So when she signs up to a semi-silent, anonymous writing retreat in glorious Italy, love is the last thing on her mind。

Until she meets a handsome stranger。 。 。 All she knows is that he's funny, he's kind and - she soon learns - he's great in bed。 He's equally smitten, and after a whirlwind, intoxicating affair, they pledge their love without even knowing each other's real names。

But when they return home, reality hits。 They're both driven mad by each other's weird quirks and annoying habits, from his eccentric, naked-sauna-loving family to her terribly behaved, shirt-shredding dog。 As disaster follows disaster, it seems that while they love each other, they just can't love each other's lives。 Can they overcome their differences to find one life, together?

You won't find Ava on a dating app。 To her love should be something organic - boy meets girl movie romance and such and after her latest breakup she is swearing off dating for a while。 Ava decides it's time to focus on writing her novel and books a spot in a writing retreat in Italy。 After passing off her rescue dog, Harold, to her best friends she settles into her adventure。 Upon arrival she learns that while she is at the monastery she isn't allowed to use her real name or share any personal i You won't find Ava on a dating app。 To her love should be something organic - boy meets girl movie romance and such and after her latest breakup she is swearing off dating for a while。 Ava decides it's time to focus on writing her novel and books a spot in a writing retreat in Italy。 After passing off her rescue dog, Harold, to her best friends she settles into her adventure。 Upon arrival she learns that while she is at the monastery she isn't allowed to use her real name or share any personal information with the other writers so Ava becomes "Aria"。 Day one begins with a little confusion as three non-writers join their group after their course was canceled at the last minute。 Quickly "Aria" finds herself swooning over one of the late-comers named "Dutch" and a fast romance ignites。 After days filled with cliff-jumping into the Mediterranean and consuming all the gelato "Aria" and "Dutch" find themselves head over heels in love - only one problem。。。they don't know the first thing about each other。 When the retreat ends and the two must return to their normal lives Ava and Matt must navigate who they really are which proves to be much more difficult than they thought。 Why does Ava feel the need to rescue everything and why does Matt behave like a robot with his family? As things get increasingly more complicated Ava wonders if they can keep the promises they made to each other back in Italy and be each other's happily ever after。 Sophie Kinsella is an automatic buy for me。 I love her writing style and reading her books usually just makes me happy。 However, this one did not give me the warm and fuzzies。 I had such a strong feeling of ick reading most of this as two people couldn't be more wrong for one another。 Both Matt and Ava were selfish and self-centered and really didn't deserve one another at times。 Though I didn't enjoy this one, it might be the right fit for others。 Big thanks to NetGalley and Random House for a copy in exchange for an honest review。 。。。more

3。5 I usually like Sophie Kinsella's books more than this。 However, this one is not as good as the previous one's。 Don't get me wrong I liked the story, I liked the writing, I liked the deal-breakers and the friends and how everything came together。 I think what I didn't like was the characters。 I don't know is it because I'm growing up and my values are changing or are the characters are a bit childish 3。5 I usually like Sophie Kinsella's books more than this。 However, this one is not as good as the previous one's。 Don't get me wrong I liked the story, I liked the writing, I liked the deal-breakers and the friends and how everything came together。 I think what I didn't like was the characters。 I don't know is it because I'm growing up and my values are changing or are the characters are a bit childish 。。。more

I don't know what to say about this。 I love Sophie Kinsella, but these characters。。。 oof! I just couldn't connect。 Ava is a lot like me - she's a starter of projects, but can't seem to finish anything。 That didn't bother me。 What DID bother me was her blatantly ignoring the feelings and habits of her love interest, Matt。 She cared only about herself, and likewise, he only cared about HIMself。 This match just did not work for me。 I don't know what to say about this。 I love Sophie Kinsella, but these characters。。。 oof! this book started out great! And then it got ROUGH。 Personally I found the main character to be extremely annoying and a personality that would drive me CRAZY in real life。 However by the end I was wanting to know how it would end。 Honestly I’d recommend this if you can’t get a hold of any of the other books on your list and you’re in a pinch 😂

2。5 stars; Y i k e s, it’s a no from me。 I’m actually sad because the paperback cover of this book is everything and the premise sounded great, but this book wasn’t for me。Things I did like:-The writing retreat in Italy (though I wish they spent longer there before returning to London)-In typical Kinsella fashion, there’s lots of jokes and goofy, silly situations, and it’s generally a light read-HAROLD, Ava’s beagle!! He’s my favorite character in the whole book!Things I didn’t like-It seemed incredibly fast paced and it felt so insta-lovey, like they met and days later are like ‘wow I love you, we must be made for each other 😍’-Ava and Matt were both really immature; they acted like teenagers, not grown adults。-There was no romantic chemistry at all; they were way too different and they spent a good portion of the book disagreeing and arguing, but then they’d be like ‘oh well, it’s okay, we’ll work through it, it’s okay because I love him/her and we’re happy sometimes so this is just a minor bump in the road’ And by the fifth argument, I was literally like ‘JUST BREAK UP ALREADY, you’ll both be better off’ 🤦🏻‍♀️So, unfortunately for me, this wasn’t it 😬 。。。more

This book was hilarious, entertaining, and heartwarming! Ava was so positive and real。 There were so many favorite lines, but my favorite was when she said she would eat parsley as her meal as it was the only vegetarian option。 Laugh out loud funny!

Any setting in Italy is right up my alley! This was a cute little rom-com。 It was light-hearted fun。

Overall, I've read better Sophie Kinsella books, because I didn't like the middle part as much as the rest。 Bit cringy and all。 Which probably was the point。 I really did love the beginning and everything towards the end though。 Overall, I've read better Sophie Kinsella books, because I didn't like the middle part as much as the rest。 Bit cringy and all。 Which probably was the point。 I really did love the beginning and everything towards the end though。 。。。more

The exuberant, charming Ava and sensuous but serious Matt must navigate lives that are so different, they seem impossible to join。 This funny, endearing book--with an irascible dog, hilarious friends and Italian vacation--is a delicious escape。

。。。more

I wanted to really like this one as I usually love books by Sophie Kinsella, but I didn't particularly like this one。 It's probably not a good sign when you're reading a romance and just thinking that the main couple should just break up。 All the issues made it seem like it wasn't worth the fight, I didn't feel like their connection was worth the trouble, given how fast it seemed。 Oh well。。。 I wanted to really like this one as I usually love books by Sophie Kinsella, but I didn't particularly like this one。 It's probably not a good sign when you're reading a romance and just thinking that the main couple should just break up。 All the issues made it seem like it wasn't worth the fight, I didn't feel like their connection was worth the trouble, given how fast it seemed。 Oh well。。。 。。。more

A silly, little, fluffy yet entertaining read that is quick to finish and likely quick to be forgotten。 Spent most of the book marveling at the way the main character was lying to herself about how incompatible her life was with the love interest。 But they keep trying because they are “in love” after spending a week together at a writers retreat。 As I made my way toward the end of the book, I was startled to realize this was not trying to be a satirical commentary on dating and relationships aft A silly, little, fluffy yet entertaining read that is quick to finish and likely quick to be forgotten。 Spent most of the book marveling at the way the main character was lying to herself about how incompatible her life was with the love interest。 But they keep trying because they are “in love” after spending a week together at a writers retreat。 As I made my way toward the end of the book, I was startled to realize this was not trying to be a satirical commentary on dating and relationships after all, but rather was a far-fetched romance with a predictable saccharine end。 。。。more

it was ok and I did read to the end but it is nowhere as good as the books she first wrote。 The last 2 books Sophie has wrote have gone downhill but decided to give this one a go and it was even worse。 I hate to say this but I do not think I will be reading anymore of her books again - unless it is any of the shopaholic series

This was NOT GOOD。 Sorry to the author, but there was NO relationship build up from the get go and the ML and FL were just thrown at each other in a few scenes and then pronounced in love。 The best part of this book was when they *spoiler alert*。。。。。。。broke up and literally just became better people, and weren't being the absolute most annoying, unlikable characters。 The side best friends were more interesting。 I really wanted to DNF this from the get go but I thought maybe it would get better。 This was NOT GOOD。 Sorry to the author, but there was NO relationship build up from the get go and the ML and FL were just thrown at each other in a few scenes and then pronounced in love。 The best part of this book was when they *spoiler alert*。。。。。。。broke up and literally just became better people, and weren't being the absolute most annoying, unlikable characters。 The side best friends were more interesting。 I really wanted to DNF this from the get go but I thought maybe it would get better。 It didn't。 It honestly felt like the story ripped off part of the plot in One Day in December。 The ending was the best and most feel-good part of the whole book。 Otherwise, not a fan unfortunately。 。。。more

I rarely give books 2 stars but oh my god I struggled to get through this one。 The premise of it intrigued me so much! I thought it would be more set in Italy at the writing retreat and I honestly thought the main character would have more of a head on her shoulders 🤷🏼‍♀️ There were moments where she was just unbearable- expectations way too high, she was whiny and flaky, and overall just boring。 I didn’t think they would transition to being back home so soon and I was hoping she would expand mo I rarely give books 2 stars but oh my god I struggled to get through this one。 The premise of it intrigued me so much! This was a good read, a little heavier than many of Kinsella's other books but it still had quite a few or laugh-out-loud moments too。 I laughed so hard near the beginning - when two particular writers in the writing group read their work out loud。。。 :D:D:D You'll know it when you read it。I think it has a lower rating than some of her other books because her love lead wasn't very swoony at times。 3。5 This was a good read, a little heavier than many of Kinsella's other books but it still had quite a few or laugh-out-loud moments too。 I laughed so hard near the beginning - when two particular writers in the writing group read their work out loud。。。 :D:D:D You'll know it when you read it。I think it has a lower rating than some of her other books because her love lead wasn't very swoony at times。 3。5 。。。more
