Okay every time I marvel at his creativity。 Sometimes I find myself just smiling at all these creepy things bc this man cannot miss。 It’s delicious in its originality and ahh he makes the world skewed for awhile :)

This was classic Junji Ito。 It had a blend of I believe old and new to me material。 I had read several of them, but I always enjoy reading his works。 The Enigma of Amigara Fault is one of my favorites and always look forward to seeing it again。 The ones I hadn't read before were interesting and in line with what I expected。 He always has interesting and twisted stories。 This had some gross ones, but that is par for the course with Ito。 It was a pleasant way to pass the time。 This was classic Junji Ito。 It had a blend of I believe old and new to me material。 I had read several of them, but I always enjoy reading his works。 The Enigma of Amigara Fault is one of my favorites and always look forward to seeing it again。 The ones I hadn't read before were interesting and in line with what I expected。 He always has interesting and twisted stories。 This had some gross ones, but that is par for the course with Ito。 It was a pleasant way to pass the time。 。。。more

A well curated collection of some known and less well known horror stories。While the splashes of color to some panels in some stories is a welcomed touch, not all of the stories in this collection are knock-your-socks-off winners。 While Ito never disappoints in taking an obscure or novel concept and putting his distinctive terrifying twist on it, there are some stories that are a little bland or lack any "hooks" to really captivate (not that that's necessarily a bad thing。 Sometimes it's nice to A well curated collection of some known and less well known horror stories。While the splashes of color to some panels in some stories is a welcomed touch, not all of the stories in this collection are knock-your-socks-off winners。 While Ito never disappoints in taking an obscure or novel concept and putting his distinctive terrifying twist on it, there are some stories that are a little bland or lack any "hooks" to really captivate (not that that's necessarily a bad thing。 Sometimes it's nice to have stories that don't soil your pants)。 The issue that I have with that is that the stories that fall flat are selections of a larger piece of work that Ito wrote。 As a result, they lack any meaningful context or substantial buildup。 If anyone cares, here's my rating by chapter:1。 Billions Alone [B]2。 The Human Chair [A]3。 An Unearthly Love [A+]4。 Venus in the Blind Spot [B-]5。 The Licking Woman [A+]6。 Master Umezz and Me [F+]7。 How Love Came to Professor Kirida [A]8。 The Enigma of Amigara Fault [A+]9。 The Sad Tale of the Principal Post [C+]10。 Keepsake [B] 。。。more

[netgalley disclaimer]I like Junji Ito and I liked this collection。 I thought the color additions were nice, though I would have liked to see more of the color work throughout。 Like Fragments of Horror, this is a collection of horror short fiction selections put together in one book。 It's about the same length as Fragments and much less of a time commitment than Uzumaki or Tomie。 This collection definitely fits as a great taster book for libraries looking to see if patrons will go for his works。 [netgalley disclaimer]I like Junji Ito and I liked this collection。 I thought the color additions were nice, though I would have liked to see more of the color work throughout。 Like Fragments of Horror, this is a collection of horror short fiction selections put together in one book。 It's about the same length as Fragments and much less of a time commitment than Uzumaki or Tomie。 This collection definitely fits as a great taster book for libraries looking to see if patrons will go for his works。 It might not appease die hard fans as most of the stories are available in other collections。 Still, even after reading many of his works, there were some present here (like his mini biographical story) that were new to me。Something that Junji Ito does very well and carries on in this collection is look to the past authors who inspired him。 He draws from horror and pop culture mangaka and other media creators。 Featuring adaptions from Edogawa Rampo (Tiro Hirai), a famous horror writer in Japan with less international exposure/fewer translations, the author shines a light on his heroes and inspirations while also allowing their stories to speak for themselves。 He gives credit where it is due and, in his sincere way, shows his gratitude through adaptation。 He also highlights the interconnection between the Western and Eastern literature and comics cross-pollination across time from Edgar Allan Poe to himself today。 。。。more

Billions Alone - Disturbing imagery, but gets a little too ridiculous。 One of the better stories in this collection。 4/5The Human Chair - Lmfao。 5/5An Unearthly Love - Well written, tale of the japanese realdoll。 3/5。Venus in the Blind Spot - Unexpected scifi。 Disappointing overall, but a neat concept。 3/5。The Licking Woman - Gross, but in a good Junji Ito way。 4/5Master Umezz and Me - Feels really out of place and unfinished。 2/5。How Love Came to Professor Kirida - Eh。 Interesting enough read, Billions Alone - Disturbing imagery, but gets a little too ridiculous。 One of the better stories in this collection。 4/5The Human Chair - Lmfao。 5/5An Unearthly Love - Well written, tale of the japanese realdoll。 3/5。Venus in the Blind Spot - Unexpected scifi。 Disappointing overall, but a neat concept。 3/5。The Licking Woman - Gross, but in a good Junji Ito way。 4/5Master Umezz and Me - Feels really out of place and unfinished。 2/5。How Love Came to Professor Kirida - Eh。 Interesting enough read, but nothing noteworthy and it honestly made no sense by the end。 2/5。The Enigma of Amigara Fault - Was in Gyo。 Best thing Junji Ito ever made。 5/5。The Sad Tale of the Principle Post - The Sad Tale of the Principle Shitpost。 Was in Gyo。 Extremely short。 3/5Keepsake - Gross。 2/5。Full color artwork in the front: 5/5Overall: 3。5/5, but unlike the other Junji Ito works I've read so far, I'm rounding this one down to a 3, namely due to repeat releases (enigma and principle post) and what is overall a very discombobulated collection。 。。。more

Another Junji Ito collection and a pretty strong one at that。 A couple of the stories are in colour, or have the odd coloured panels, but it is still overwhelmingly a black and white manga。 Some of the tales have been published before (Amigara and Principal Post) in other collected volumes so bear that in mind if you have others。 Still, they're shorter entries in a collection containing works that are a bit longer than usual。 I enjoyed it and definitely feel it's one of the better collections of Another Junji Ito collection and a pretty strong one at that。 A couple of the stories are in colour, or have the odd coloured panels, but it is still overwhelmingly a black and white manga。 Some of the tales have been published before (Amigara and Principal Post) in other collected volumes so bear that in mind if you have others。 Still, they're shorter entries in a collection containing works that are a bit longer than usual。 I enjoyed it and definitely feel it's one of the better collections of Ito's work。 。。。more

Venus in the Blind Spot is a creepy manga collecting chilling horror stories。 This collection was hit and miss for me。 I really liked some of the stories, such as the title story and The Engima of Amigara Fault, but others felt rushed or even a bit silly。 Overall the art was great。 Some stories in the ComiXology edition were in color or featured sections in color。 I don’t read enough manga to know if this is common or not。 I did question the decision to only render parts of some stories in color Venus in the Blind Spot is a creepy manga collecting chilling horror stories。 This collection was hit and miss for me。 I really liked some of the stories, such as the title story and The Engima of Amigara Fault, but others felt rushed or even a bit silly。 Overall the art was great。 Some stories in the ComiXology edition were in color or featured sections in color。 I don’t read enough manga to know if this is common or not。 I did question the decision to only render parts of some stories in color (specifically the first few pages and then switch to black and white)。 I might have enjoyed the whole book in color or black and white, or else limited use of color in a way that seemed more intentional。 Despite my criticism of some of the stories, I rate this collection overall as ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ 。。。more

2。5/5 Stars Once again, these short story collections start out with a bang and then three stories in and the book just falls apart。 There’s only so much distance a suspension of belief will take you in a story until you’re no longer enjoying it and it’s just mildly entertaining。

There were some very good short stories in this one。 I actually enjoyed this one so much, I would consider buying the hard copy to add to the collection。 The more Junji Ito I read, the more I love his work。 Despite some of the stories being rather gimmicky and uninteresting, his excellent artwork more than makes up for it。 It makes it so at least every page is interesting to read。

Overall, a very enjoyable collection! There was an autobiographical short in this collection as well, which honestly seemed out of place but was fascinating context。 Less gross-out in this collection than there was in "Shiver," but still fantastic horrifying artwork。 I like the idea behind the headlining story "Venus in the Blindspot" but felt like it could have been executed better。 "The Licking Woman" also had unrealized potential with an untidy ending。 I really enjoyed "The Human Chair" and " Overall, a very enjoyable collection! A solid mix of stories that cover some of his more bizarre themes as well as some more classic, Tales from the Crypt style stuff。 The art is stunning as to be expected, and the translation flows naturally。 Also, this includes one of his most famous shorts The Enigma of Amigara Fault, which still packs a punch after a few re-reads。 I also particularly loved the final story which has a nasty little twist to it。 Uzumaki may be the best intro to Junji Ito, but these stories wouldn't turn anyone off。 A solid mix of stories that cover some of his more bizarre themes as well as some more classic, Tales from the Crypt style stuff。 The art is stunning as to be expected, and the translation flows naturally。 Also, this includes one of his most famous shorts The Enigma of Amigara Fault, which still packs a punch after a few re-reads。 I also particularly loved the final story which has a nasty little twist to it。 Uzumaki may be the best intro to Junji Ito, but these stories wouldn't turn anyone off。 Recommended。 。。。more
