Another enjoyable instalment， once again with gorgeous illustrations by Sana Takeda。 As the series goes on there are more and more characters to keep track of， as well as the different factions they fall into， which makes this volume a little confusing if it has been a while since you have read volume 3！ This volume focusses on the different factions and the impending war， as well as Maika finally meeting her father。 I look forward to volume 5。

This was going along well until the end。。。 I feel like there were pages missing things happened so rapidly and so confusingly。 Hopefully the next volume will clarify。Story is rollicking！ However， four stars because of the confusing ending and also the fact that every character now seems to be some kind of super special Chosen One， even Kippa now - which is starting to annoy me。 Although I guess the title of this book does reflect that。 :/

Wie schon im letzten （Sammel-）Band von Monstress werden die Geschichten von Kippa und Maika getrennt voneinander weitererzählt。 Und der Leser dringt tiefer in beider Vergangenheit ein und lernt viel über deren Wesen。 Dadurch nehmen die Figuren mehr und mehr Form an und die Zugänglichkeit zum Monstress-Universum nimmt weiter zu。 Ob der Leser allerdings Sympathie oder Antipathie zu den Figuren aufbaut， muss jeder Leser selbst entscheiden。 Stark ist viel mehr， dass der Leser überhaupt derart vor di Wie schon im letzten （Sammel-）Band von Monstress werden die Geschichten von Kippa und Maika getrennt voneinander weitererzählt。 Und der Leser dringt tiefer in beider Vergangenheit ein und lernt viel über deren Wesen。 Dadurch nehmen die Figuren mehr und mehr Form an und die Zugänglichkeit zum Monstress-Universum nimmt weiter zu。 Ob der Leser allerdings Sympathie oder Antipathie zu den Figuren aufbaut， muss jeder Leser selbst entscheiden。 Stark ist viel mehr， dass der Leser überhaupt derart vor die Wahl gestellt wird。Der hohe Grad an Gewaltdarstellung bleibt zwar erhalten， rückt in diesem Buch aber deutlich in den Hintergrund。 Der Fokus liegt eindeutig darin， die Geschichte voranzutreiben。 Dadurch wird ein hohes Maß an Spannung erzeugt， ohne dass es viele Wendungen gibt。 Es ist einfach spannend， das Leben der jeweiligen Figuren kennenzulernen。Der interessante graphische Mix aus Manga， Steampunk und Fantasy bleibt indes erhalten und lässt die Montress-Bücher zu einem einmaligen Erlebnis werden。 Dieser Stil passt einfach sehr gut zur Geschichte， den Gottheiten und Monstern。FazitDie Geschichte wird vorangetrieben und die Welt steht vor einem großen Krieg。 In diesem vierten Band werden allerdings mehr die Fäden gezogen und die Parteien formieren sich。 Zusätzlich erfährt der Leser viel über die alten Gottheiten und Maika Halbwolf。 So skeptisch ich am Anfang der Monstress-Reihe gegenübergestanden habe， umso mehr kann ich sie jetzt empfehlen。 。。。more

Bullet Review:This one got quite a bit convoluted and Kippa’s sudden powers I felt came out of nowhere。 All said， I really enjoy this series so despite the complicated politics and almost too many storylines to keep track of， I’m giving this 4 stars。

It had been so long since I read the earlier volumes that I was really confused about who was on which side and why all these groups hated each other and then betrayals along with shifting alliances combined with undercover spies make it even harder to follow。 But。。。 I kept reading and I didn’t seem to care so much that I was confused。 The main character， Maika Halfwolf， is front and center throughout most of the story and it’s really about her growth and self-actualization。 And the confusing st It had been so long since I read the earlier volumes that I was really confused about who was on which side and why all these groups hated each other and then betrayals along with shifting alliances combined with undercover spies make it even harder to follow。 But。。。 I kept reading and I didn’t seem to care so much that I was confused。 The main character， Maika Halfwolf， is front and center throughout most of the story and it’s really about her growth and self-actualization。 And the confusing stuff started to clear but still remained slightly cloudy。 Despite those drawbacks， I found myself compelled by the plot and bits of foreshadowing and slight revelations to keep reading。 I wanted to see where it was going and what was going to happen。 The artwork is beautiful in a dark， sweeping， elaborate style but it is fair to complain about many characters looking alike。 。。。more
