A delightful "friends to lovers" romance with fun visits from some much loved Bridgerton characters。 A little slow at the beginning, but falls into a nice pace a few chapters in。 A delightful "friends to lovers" romance with fun visits from some much loved Bridgerton characters。 A little slow at the beginning, but falls into a nice pace a few chapters in。 。。。more

A pleasant enough read, but ultimately too many things bothered me。 Honoria sets off the plot by planning to fake a sprained ankle。 We have our couple eating chocolate cake in an era when chocolate was nearly always served as cocoa。 Honoria is frequently unlikable, such as bullying everyone to participate in the quartet and not nixing the idea of playing a piece that no one is going to be able to play。 Some traditions are meant to be dropped。 On the other hand。 I loved Honoria's capable mother。 A pleasant enough read, but ultimately too many things bothered me。 Honoria sets off the plot by planning to fake a sprained ankle。 We have our couple eating chocolate cake in an era when chocolate was nearly always served as cocoa。 Honoria is frequently unlikable, such as bullying everyone to participate in the quartet and not nixing the idea of playing a piece that no one is going to be able to play。 Some traditions are meant to be dropped。 On the other hand。 I loved Honoria's capable mother。 I liked the way the love was based on a long friendship。 I was fond of Darcy Marcus。 。。。more

When I read a book from a series, I find that I must continue to read all of them。 I truly enjoyed this book and obtained from my library the remaining books in the series。 If you enjoy Julia Quinn, I recommend you also read this series。

I feel like Julia Quinn's books get more and more unrealistic over time, but they're still so much fun。 I feel like Julia Quinn's books get more and more unrealistic over time, but they're still so much fun。 。。。more

I have a real soft spot for Julia Quinn’s Bridgerton series and spin offs and I wasn’t disappointed。 I saw a few reviews before reading this book with people not liking Honoria because they felt she was a goody two-shoes, and this is probably opposite to the one thing I didn’t like about the book。She was a goody two-shoes born out of a desperate need to be noticed and to be good because her brother got in a duel and was forced to leave the country or be hanged。 She was alone with distant parents I have a real soft spot for Julia Quinn’s Bridgerton series and spin offs and I wasn’t disappointed。 I saw a few reviews before reading this book with people not liking Honoria because they felt she was a goody two-shoes, and this is probably opposite to the one thing I didn’t like about the book。She was a goody two-shoes born out of a desperate need to be noticed and to be good because her brother got in a duel and was forced to leave the country or be hanged。 She was alone with distant parents still upset over the actions of her brother and little neglected。 She was behaved because she didn’t know how else to act and she wanted to be a part of the quartet because she wanted to honour the family especially since she didn’t feel she really had one anymore。 So I didn’t mind her being well behaved, what I did mind was her actions at the end of the book, completely out of character, without even a thought for being behaved or thinking about her actions and it felt so odd and out of character。 I did like the story, it was different and unique and I thought it was nice to show woman as smart competent, clear headed and strong。 To show woman saving the day。 。。。more

Wow, this was s-l-o-w and kind of boring。 Lots of unnecessary repeat conversations。 No heat, not even kissing until the very end。 Just。。。。lots of talking。 Don't think I will bother to finish the series。 Wow, this was s-l-o-w and kind of boring。 Lots of unnecessary repeat conversations。 No heat, not even kissing until the very end。 Just。。。。lots of talking。 Don't think I will bother to finish the series。 。。。more

The closest Honoria Smythe-Smith (yes, of those Smythe-Smiths) has come to romance is digging a hole in an attempt to fall convincingly in front of Gregory Bridgerton - but in the process she managed to injure Marcus Holroyd, a man she's known since childhood (and her brother's best friend!)。 Marcus is in need of care, that's plain, but now he realises he was also in need of something else。。。This was a very cute story right from the start。 Cute, but a little same-y。 I thought the book was going The closest Honoria Smythe-Smith (yes, of those Smythe-Smiths) has come to romance is digging a hole in an attempt to fall convincingly in front of Gregory Bridgerton - but in the process she managed to injure Marcus Holroyd, a man she's known since childhood (and her brother's best friend!)。 Marcus is in need of care, that's plain, but now he realises he was also in need of something else。。。This was a very cute story right from the start。 Cute, but a little same-y。 I thought the book was going to bumble along in that same vein, but happily things got more interesting when Honoria's mother appeared and took charge for a bit。 Honoria and Marcus were both as clueless as each other and I adored watching them figure themselves out。 And then of course there was that wonderful climax - at one of the musicales, where else? 。。。more

Super funSuch a delightful story。 The heroine is proud of her family and tries to befriend the hero, a childhood friend。 There is wit and joy in their interactions, a sense of the propriety of the times and romance。 Just a lovely story

I really enjoyed this one。 Loved the touches of humour and the family dynamics。

Just Like Heaven is the first book in the Smythe-Smith series, featuring the dreadful Smythe-Smith family quartet。 Just like most Julia Quinn books, this was an entertaining read。 Honoria is a member of the quartet and knows they’re dreadful, but she’s loyal to the family’s tradition。 Marcus is a family friend and has been asked by Honoria’s brother Daniel to keep an eye on her while he’s away。 Honoria and Marcus were both likable characters—I loved that Marcus is a quiet, shy hero who longs for Just Like Heaven is the first book in the Smythe-Smith series, featuring the dreadful Smythe-Smith family quartet。 Just like most Julia Quinn books, this was an entertaining read。 Honoria is a member of the quartet and knows they’re dreadful, but she’s loyal to the family’s tradition。 Marcus is a family friend and has been asked by Honoria’s brother Daniel to keep an eye on her while he’s away。 Honoria and Marcus were both likable characters—I loved that Marcus is a quiet, shy hero who longs for a family。 The two have strong friendship chemistry, but I would have enjoyed more romantic tension between them。 。。。more

I was really worried I wouldn't like this series, since no Bridgertons are at the forefront (even though the Lady Whistledown books didn't have stories with Bridgertons *spoiler* it was still written by a Bridgerton, you know?)。 But I don't know why I was worried!! Honoria and Marcus were so tender omg I loved them so much。 Although, I am disappointed we didn't have Lady Whistledown columns at the beginning of every chapter!!! It would've made perfect sense, chronologically。 I was really worried I wouldn't like this series, since no Bridgertons are at the forefront (even though the Lady Whistledown books didn't have stories with Bridgertons *spoiler* it was still written by a Bridgerton, you know?)。 But I don't know why I was worried!! REALLY A 3。 5 EFFORT TO MEHonoria grew up with Marcus。 He was her brother, Daniel’s, best friend and he spent a good portion of his youth with their family。 Now, Daniel has been in Italy for 3 years and he asked Marcus to keep an eye on Honoria while he is gone。 When Marcus is seriously injured, Honoria and her mother take care of him and prevent him from death。 They are also responsible for the fact that he does not lose his leg。 During the time they are taking care of Marcus, he and Honoria be REALLY A 3。 5 EFFORT TO MEHonoria grew up with Marcus。 He was her brother, Daniel’s, best friend and he spent a good portion of his youth with their family。 Now, Daniel has been in Italy for 3 years and he asked Marcus to keep an eye on Honoria while he is gone。 When Marcus is seriously injured, Honoria and her mother take care of him and prevent him from death。 They are also responsible for the fact that he does not lose his leg。 During the time they are taking care of Marcus, he and Honoria begin to see one another in a new light。He is not her brother and she is not his little sister。 In fact, they are both adults。This book also includes one of the Smythe- Smith musicales。 Honoria is a violinist。 Because Marcus has been treated as one of the family, he has endured these musicales for several years。 So, it is obvious when he declares his love, it must be true love。Ms Quinn is a talented author who creates characters who are both interesting and entertaining。 Her dialog is generally sparkling and humorous。 This plot is a little slow moving at times。 That would be the only short coming I would mention。This is a good example of a Julia Quinn book。 It is not her finest effort, but then her efforts are generally head and shoulders above others。 。。。more

5/5 Stars I adored this book。 The writing was great, I really enjoyed the characters。 The romance is one of my favorites。 I loved the transition that they moved slowly to becoming romantic interests。 I also just overall really enjoyed our two main characters。 I can't wait to continue reading this series! 。。。more
