Summary

This book is so horny it’s insane

Esperaba devorarlo y me ha costado masticar hasta el último bocado。 Yo lo resumiría y me quedaría con un tercio de libro。 Quizá no lo he leído con la paciencia y tiempo que necesita。 O quizá lo sobrevaloraba。

4。5-5。 I typically never watch the movie before reading the book (unless i have to, like for a class or something), but when i came across the movie, i couldn't resist since it would be a while before i could get to the book。 The movie was good, but having watched it made reading slow going because i couldn't get the movie out of my head。 Well-written but would have liked to start from a blank slate。 4。5-5。 I typically never watch the movie before reading the book (unless i have to, like for a class or something), but when i came across the movie, i couldn't resist since it would be a while before i could get to the book。 The movie was good, but having watched it made reading slow going because i couldn't get the movie out of my head。 Well-written but would have liked to start from a blank slate。 。。。more

This was somewhat different than I thought it would be。 Lots of interesting introspection。 Definitely worth the read。 Steamy scale 0。5 of 5 (Audible)

It was intriguing enough to keep me reading, but there was so much in depth expository writing, I ended up skimming through a large chunk of the book。 My lasting impression as I closed the book is “what in the hell did I just read?”。 I was never into vampires so this was not something I would ever read on my own if my co-worker didn’t gift me the book。 I suppose I don’t regret reading it but I also don’t recommend it to anyone else。

Anne Rice is just brilliant。 What a mind。

I have never been so bored with a vampire themed book like this before。 Way too slow and philosophical for my taste。 So many questions and the only answer we got in the end: All is meaningless。 Once again I must say the movie did it better。

This book made me sad in several ways, but in a good way。 The book made you go through the meaning of life, death, and the loneliness of being immortal。 In alot of ways most books glamorize vampires and their luck of getting to live on and never grow old。 This book explores that deep loneliness。 I found myself annoyed at times with Louis because why force yourself to suffer for eternity when you can live on and see anything you want, but I also sympathize with his empathetic soul and his quest f This book made me sad in several ways, but in a good way。 The book made you go through the meaning of life, death, and the loneliness of being immortal。 In alot of ways most books glamorize vampires and their luck of getting to live on and never grow old。 This book explores that deep loneliness。 I found myself annoyed at times with Louis because why force yourself to suffer for eternity when you can live on and see anything you want, but I also sympathize with his empathetic soul and his quest for love。 I will say that you have to be in the right mindset to read this book。 There are alot of deep meanings so just immerse yourself into the world to receive all of it。 。。。more

Boring as hell! I've read the whole thing and don't understand what the fuss is all about。 The Witchinng Hour is better than this one。 Boring as hell! I've read the whole thing and don't understand what the fuss is all about。 The Witchinng Hour is better than this one。 。。。more

I LOVED this book when I read it back in the '90s。 I cannot believe I forgot to add this series to my "read" shelf! My husband had never heard of the books or movie which, not only shocked me, but made me want to re-read the books。 I LOVED this book when I read it back in the '90s。 I cannot believe I forgot to add this series to my "read" shelf! I read this in the eighth grade after being encouraged by mother, who is also very into Anne Rice and The Vampire Chronicles, and I loved it。 It is beautifully written, and the movie barely does it any justice as good as it is。 Definitely worth reading!

Why did it take me so long to read this book? I have to say that the movie is better。 I am usually a person who likes the book better than the movie, but in this case the motion picture prevails。 This book is a slow burn。 It’s not that long but Anne Rice has a way of using so many filly words that it starts to feel like a chore。 This book doesn’t suck but it’s also not perfect。 It revived the vampire genre back in the 70s。 The book is way more homosexual than the movie。 I will give it that。 I th Why did it take me so long to read this book? I read some of it but stopped。 It was decently written and I enjoy the relationship between Lestat and Louis but I will not give a good review because Anne Rice is a terrible person who attacked small content creators who were fans of her works。 Always one star Anne Rice。

This book is pretty good。 This is my first book from this author and I like her writing style。 I loved the eerie darkness of the atmosphere。 The characters were well written。 Louis is the boring, good vampire that you grow to like。 But I also have a soft spot for the bad vampire Lestat。 A must read for any vampire fan。

Waffling between 2 and 3 stars because I'm not sure how I feel about this in general (so slow。 So dry。 Nothing happened except a vampire's existential crisis and subsequent brooding)。 I can respect what it did for vampire novels as a whole, though, and can see how it would have been scandalous in the 70s。 Waffling between 2 and 3 stars because I'm not sure how I feel about this in general (so slow。 So dry。 Nothing happened except a vampire's existential crisis and subsequent brooding)。 I can respect what it did for vampire novels as a whole, though, and can see how it would have been scandalous in the 70s。 。。。more

Boy, was this a drag to get through。 Louis whined and whined and then whined some more, for 340 pages。 I thought this would make me like vampires after the Twilight disaster。 It did not。 This series ends here for me。The only good point it had for me was how she presented immortality neat the end。 That was interesting。 Other than that, I'm out。 If this had not been part of a challenge with a friend (to read a book with a vampire in it), I would have DNF this book。 Boy, was this a drag to get through。 Louis whined and whined and then whined some more, for 340 pages。 I thought this would make me like vampires after the Twilight disaster。 It did not。 This series ends here for me。The only good point it had for me was how she presented immortality neat the end。 That was interesting。 Other than that, I'm out。 If this had not been part of a challenge with a friend (to read a book with a vampire in it), I would have DNF this book。 。。。more

Being a fan of vampires, trashy romance, and classics with a healthy dose with homoeroticism, I expected this to be right up my alley。 Instead, I'm left utterly disappointed by this book。 Anne Rice's writing is not captivating in the slightest, and I believe the book is poorly divided at best。 Each section is too long, which, coupled with the lack of charismatic characters and slower-than-a-snail pace made for an excrutiating read。 Louis is praised for being full of life, but I couldn't disagree Being a fan of vampires, trashy romance, and classics with a healthy dose with homoeroticism, I expected this to be right up my alley。 Instead, I'm left utterly disappointed by this book。 Anne Rice's writing is not captivating in the slightest, and I believe the book is poorly divided at best。 Each section is too long, which, coupled with the lack of charismatic characters and slower-than-a-snail pace made for an excrutiating read。 Louis is praised for being full of life, but I couldn't disagree more。 In reality, he cowers before his partners - be it Lestat, be it Claudia, or even Armand。 I know that people are entranced by Lestat, but he had no redeeming qualities。 The only time I felt for him was during his short affair with the musician; maybe if we had actually seem him get excited by the plays he goes to with Louis I wouldn't have felt so lukewarm about him。 Claudia was my favorite character, but Rice just didn't rise up to how amazing she could've been。 I mean, she's an eternal child。 Doomed to live forever as an half-formed human, not being taken seriously by her peers! This opens up the door for so many interesting dynamics! But no, she's constantly held back because of her love for Louis, which is incredibly creepy, considering he's a grown man。 Anyways, I'm back to my search for the great vampire novel。 。。。more

This review has been hidden because it contains spoilers。 To view it, click here。 Sublime nihilism written into poetry。 Unfortunately Louis failed me as well, and I would very well appreciate being a vampire in this fantastical world he lives in。 That being said, his anguish felt very real。 Lestats buffoonery made more sense as the book went on, coincidentally "buffoonery" was the thing that damnned Louis near the end。 Am currently on the third book now and plan on rereading this book again in the near future。 Sublime nihilism written into poetry。 Unfortunately Louis failed me as well, and I would very well appreciate being a vampire in this fantastical world he lives in。 That being said, his anguish felt very real。 Lestats buffoonery made more sense as the book went on, coincidentally "buffoonery" was the thing that damnned Louis near the end。 Am currently on the third book now and plan on rereading this book again in the near future。 。。。more

This book does not get enough credit for being artistic and a masterpiece。 I am a slow reader, so reading this book took me a while。 Paying attention to detail when reading is my forte, and the way she paints the scene with her words is magnificent。 I visualized each scene as they were written and pictured what Louis and Lestat wore and thought and how they lived。 In the beginning, Lestat did not want to spend the rest of all eternity alone。 He chose Louis, who was looking for death。 Claudia was This book does not get enough credit for being artistic and a masterpiece。 I am a slow reader, so reading this book took me a while。 Paying attention to detail when reading is my forte, and the way she paints the scene with her words is magnificent。 I visualized each scene as they were written and pictured what Louis and Lestat wore and thought and how they lived。 In the beginning, Lestat did not want to spend the rest of all eternity alone。 He chose Louis, who was looking for death。 Claudia was and still is my favorite character in all of literature。 Her ferocity and fierceness make her a killer with no emotion。 She is the true definition of a sociopath。 Anne Rice really painted the perfect picture when she wrote Claudia。 A child vampire is forbidden, and it saddened me when I read what happened to her。Altogether, this book is outstanding。 A true 5/5 and I hope to share this novel with others who are looking to read something out of the ordinary。 。。。more

I grew up watching the movie version of this religiously, its still one of my favourite movies till this day! But this was definitely not worth the read。 I did enjoy the plot, I like the thought of Vampires trying to discover who they are and is there more out there like them。 But the part that I absolutely hated was the love of Louis and Claudia。 That was too much, I understand that she was much older but in a child's body but thinking about any sort of romantic relationship with her was just w I grew up watching the movie version of this religiously, its still one of my favourite movies till this day!
