Summary

From the #1 New York Times bestselling co-author of Five Feet Apart comes a gripping new romance, perfect for fans of The Perks of Being a Wallflower and Simon vs。 the Homo Sapiens Agenda。

Emily and her mum were always lucky。

But Emily’s mum’s luck ran out three years ago when she succumbed to cancer, and nothing has felt right since。

Now, the summer before her senior year, things are worse than ever – Emily has wrecked things with her boyfriend, Matt, and her dad is selling the house she grew up in and giving her mum’s belongings away。 The only person she has to talk to is Blake, a girl she barely knows since she and her dad moved back to town five seconds ago。

But that’s when Emily finds the list – her mum’s senior year summer bucket list – buried in the back of her closet。 When Blake suggests that Emily take it on as a challenge, the two set off on a journey to tick each box and help Emily face her fears over losing her connection to her mum。 As she starts to feel closer to her mother, so too does Emily’s bond with Blake deepen into something she wasn't expecting。

And suddenly Emily must face another fear: accepting the secret part of herself she never got a chance to share with the person who knew her best。

A captivating, heartfelt love story about learning who you are, and who you love, when the person you’ve always shared yourself with is gone。

this book made me feel a lot of things; namely, because it’s about coming to terms with your sexuality。 it’s a stunning read and beautifully written, as is expected from a rachael lippincott book!

In completing the list Emily not only feels closer to her mom than she has in years but she learns more about herself than she has in years。 This coming of age and self discovery book is such a fun and sad story。 I absolutely loved every bit of it。 The fact that the main character makes a lot of realistic mistakes and is trying to just feel something and find herself again is something I feel like everyone felt at that age。 。。。more

Ok so I don't know what I was expecting when I started this book, but it was absolutely a delight。 Imagine a teen Netflix movie in book form。 Easy read, great characters, fun pace, and all the confusion and mystery of teen romance and crushes。 Ok so I don't know what I was expecting when I started this book, but it was absolutely a delight。 Imagine a teen Netflix movie in book form。 Easy read, great characters, fun pace, and all the confusion and mystery of teen romance and crushes。 。。。more

This book reminded me of what it felt like to be young and figuring out who you are。 I didn't experience the same things Emily did, but the overall vibe of this book was reminiscent of The Sisterhood of the Traveling Pants with its equal parts teenage angst, hopefulness, and overall carefree fun one has before adult responsibilities and societal expectations weigh you down。 This story also touched me because it takes place in a small town in Pennsylvania, which I also did, so I felt a connection This book reminded me of what it felt like to be young and figuring out who you are。 I didn't experience the same things Emily did, but the overall vibe of this book was reminiscent of The Sisterhood of the Traveling Pants with its equal parts teenage angst, hopefulness, and overall carefree fun one has before adult responsibilities and societal expectations weigh you down。 This story also touched me because it takes place in a small town in Pennsylvania, which I also did, so I felt a connection to the narrative in that way as well。 The author established the setting in a meaningful way that made me feel as though I was transplanted right in the middle of the action。 I also liked reading about Emily's journey to discovering her sexuality and how being honest with herself, her family, and her friends was healing in the end。There are heavy emotional elements in this too。 I got teary eyed towards the end whenever the dam of emotions Emily's been holding in about her mother。 But I love how this "bucket list," allowed Emily to feel a connection with her late mother and empowered her to be the woman her mom hoped she could become but couldn't see。 CW: internalized homophobia, cancer, death of a mom 。。。more

Rating: 3。5 starsi went into this with pretty high hopes (i was intrigued by the whole "summer bucket list" thing, its sapphic, and the author is pretty well known)。 however, i was somewhat disappointed。。。which is not to say that i didn't like it, but i felt that it kinda fell short。 i found pretty much everything about this book mediocre, like there was just nothing special or striking。 for example, it was pretty predictable (i guessed the "plot twist" at the beginning) and just forgetable over Rating: 3。5 starsi went into this with pretty high hopes (i was intrigued by the whole "summer bucket list" thing, its sapphic, and the author is pretty well known)。 however, i was somewhat disappointed。。。which is not to say that i didn't like it, but i felt that it kinda fell short。 i found pretty much everything about this book mediocre, like there was just nothing special or striking。 for example, it was pretty predictable (i guessed the "plot twist" at the beginning) and just forgetable overall。this book also had a much sadder tone that i wasn't expecting - i went into it thinking it would be a fluffy, light, summer romance, but there definitely was a heavier aspect due to all the grief and emotions Emily was dealing with。 this wasn't necessarily a bad thing, just something i thought i'd note! however, it was still fun and easy to get through overall!another note: grief is very prominent in this book and i personally couldn't really relate to emily's struggle with it, but someone who could relate, would probably enjoy the book a lot more。 although i was still able to find emily relatable in other ways, as i did with some of the other characters, and with the struggles they faced。 i do have to say there were some well fleshed out relationships。 not just emily and blake's romantic relationship but also emily and her dad's complex relationship, emily and kiera's friendship, and blake's dad and emily's dad friendship。 the writing overall though was just okay - i felt a lot of words, phrases, descriptions were reused over and over and weren't always the most descriptive。overall, this book was a decent read。 i'd consider giving it a try if you think you'd be able to connect with it or if you want a sapphic, coming of age that focuses heavily on grief。 。。。more

i had v high expectations and it kind of fell short。 it felt very predictable and cheesy。 a lot of times it felt like a lecture on life。 i would give it 3。5 stars if i could bc i didn’t hate it and i liked the ending but i’ve given a lot of great books 4 stars and i wouldn’t say this book is great。 i feel like it might be better for early high school or late middle school。 idk。

Nikki

So so so cute! I had never read a ya girl/girl romance! Glad I went in not knowing anything about the book。 Highly recommend for people who kinda get stuck in the same genre loop。

Bridget

once again i am reading a lesbian high school romance and guess what? having a great time。 she works in a bakery, she’s figuring herself out, she’s trying to figure out how to communicate about grief to her dad, and her dads best friends hot daughter enters the scene, so basically it’s wonderfully quintessential ya romance and they play a lot of bingo

3。5/5I got interested in this book when Jesse recommended it in his summer book release video。 I really enjoyed it。 The feel of a small town and a bucket list, what not to love about that? Not to mention seeing how the character handled grief。 It had me almost to the point of tears。 Overall it was a hood summer read。

I liked it a lot。 Even got a little teary-eyed in an emotional spot。 Growing up is tricky, especially when your Mum dies and leaves you terrified of living。 Then you've still got to figure out romantic relationships as well as friendships。 I liked it a lot。 Even got a little teary-eyed in an emotional spot。 Growing up is tricky, especially when your Mum dies and leaves you terrified of living。 Then you've still got to figure out romantic relationships as well as friendships。 。。。more
