Incredible story of straggle to succeed but greatly immoral。 The immorality in this book makes it not worth reading。 I discourage the reader of this book。

Liesl

His entrepreneurial spirit is inspiring。 Would have liked a deeper insight into his mind rather than just a play by play of events。

Mustafa Salamov

Was an interesting read, but sometimes the book was boring and I skiped certain number of pages towards the end。

Buen libro, me gusto mucho la historia en si。 Hay un punto que se torna algo aburrido (Quiza capitulos muy largos) mas cerca del final acerca del calentamiento global。 Pero recomendable。

This is the first biography book I have read and it was a good read。

Richard Branson has very well described his journey towards starting, sustaining, and growing his company and at the same time given a glimpse of his growth at a personal level in this book。 Few of the book portions felt a little slow, but that's probably because of my taste。 Richard Branson has very well described his journey towards starting, sustaining, and growing his company and at the same time given a glimpse of his growth at a personal level in this book。 Few of the book portions felt a little slow, but that's probably because of my taste。 。。。more

I gave up 2/3 of the way in。 I'm a fan of Richard Branson and many of his accomplishments in business。 I like that he trusts his instinct and admits that hard work is key to success, but I found much of the build-up uninteresting。 I am not a big fan of supercharged capitalism, and this book has underlying themes of money, money, money。 I tried, but it wasn't for me。 I gave up 2/3 of the way in。 I'm a fan of Richard Branson and many of his accomplishments in business。 I like that he trusts his instinct and admits that hard work is key to success, but I found much of the build-up uninteresting。 I am not a big fan of supercharged capitalism, and this book has underlying themes of money, money, money。 I tried, but it wasn't for me。 。。。more

Business is a way of life, and it is best performed when having fun。 Richard Branson does not work; he lives。 By taking risks, being altruistic, remaining curious, and enjoying the process, "Losing My Virginity" epitomizes the ideals of business。 Business it not about reports and profits; it is ways in which to encompass the best of humanity。 Vigilantly pursue the big picture, as Branson has, and you will be astonished as work transitions into an enjoyable means of living。 Business is a way of life, and it is best performed when having fun。 Richard Branson does not work; he lives。 By taking risks, being altruistic, remaining curious, and enjoying the process, "Losing My Virginity" epitomizes the ideals of business。 Business it not about reports and profits; it is ways in which to encompass the best of humanity。 Vigilantly pursue the big picture, as Branson has, and you will be astonished as work transitions into an enjoyable means of living。 。。。more

The middle was very interesting with the personal challenges and developing of the brand。 However, I considered stopping after reading the beginning but wanted to know more about the Virgin brand so I continued。 The last 1/3 of the book seems to be a large jumble of different things that happened mixed with views on global warming etc which is ironic owning an airline。I did enjoy parts of the book but by the end I felt there was a lot of self promotion and the constant altruistic views were clea The middle was very interesting with the personal challenges and developing of the brand。 However, I considered stopping after reading the beginning but wanted to know more about the Virgin brand so I continued。 The last 1/3 of the book seems to be a large jumble of different things that happened mixed with views on global warming etc which is ironic owning an airline。I did enjoy parts of the book but by the end I felt there was a lot of self promotion and the constant altruistic views were clearly stated。 It would have been nice to have more balance with the negatives or personal weaknesses or wrong decisions etc。 Overall I thought the book would be better but it wasn’t the worst。 。。。more

If you don’t know much about Richard Branson, this is a great book。 However, it does become a bit slow as you get to the middle of it。 I would definitely recommend if you’re an entrepreneur and want to be motivated by the best in the space。 I would also recommend having another book to read while reading this one - something if a different genre!

I listened to the abridged version of this as an audiobook, read by Richard himself, which I can thoroughly recommend。 Richard recounts, stories and adventures from life, it's written simply and is has good pacing。 Gives some interesting insights into areas I knew little about e。g。 airline industry。 I listened to the abridged version of this as an audiobook, read by Richard himself, which I can thoroughly recommend。 Richard recounts, stories and adventures from life, it's written simply and is has good pacing。 Gives some interesting insights into areas I knew little about e。g。 airline industry。 。。。more

I remember reading about a maverick airline owner almost 15 years back when Virgin Atlantic had first made an entry in the Indian market。 He looked very colorful as well as kind of crazy to me with the way the promotions were being done with him as lead so it was an interesting distraction at that time and then I simply ignored him! I kept seeing him the news on and off after that initial introduction but never took him too seriously until I came across this book。 Thanks to my landlord’s old boo I remember reading about a maverick airline owner almost 15 years back when Virgin Atlantic had first made an entry in the Indian market。 He looked very colorful as well as kind of crazy to me with the way the promotions were being done with him as lead so it was an interesting distraction at that time and then I simply ignored him! I kept seeing him the news on and off after that initial introduction but never took him too seriously until I came across this book。 Thanks to my landlord’s old books which came me with the house 😊 It's a great insight into how somebody from a normal middle class background made some sensible (and sometimes not so sensible) business decisions which in turn brought him fame and fortune。 He is a unique character in every which way which is visible from his student days and how he went about his “entrepreneurship” journey all these years which has been factually covered in the book。 His achievement as a music producer under ‘Virgin Music” is mind boggling and worth a separate book altogether。 I also googled many pages post reading the book and realized Richard Branson has been not only a household name and international ambassador for the UK, but a role model for a whole generation growing up in the 80’s and 90’s。 He symbolizes the idea that Britain still represents a land of opportunity, that anyone can come from anywhere and rise to make it big in business or any other pursuit which has been the case with many entrepreneurs there。 The book is like a thrilling joy-ride where you are holding your breath on what happens next as he keeps on doing something or the other where most of his actions are completely out of the box so the outcome is pretty exciting for readers keeping us glued till the end。 。。。more

Richard Branson is a truly inspirational figure in my life。 His fantastic approach to the world and work is fundamental to his success albeit unconventional。 "All work but no play makes Jack a dull boy"。 I immediately came to this quote but soon realised that we ought not to distinguish between work and play but to conflate them together。 Ideally one dreams of the perfect work-life balance to simultaneously achieve their career goals and maintain a social life。However, I wish to lead the atypica Richard Branson is a truly inspirational figure in my life。 His fantastic approach to the world and work is fundamental to his success albeit unconventional。 "All work but no play makes Jack a dull boy"。 I immediately came to this quote but soon realised that we ought not to distinguish between work and play but to conflate them together。 Ideally one dreams of the perfect work-life balance to simultaneously achieve their career goals and maintain a social life。However, I wish to lead the atypical archetype lifestyle。I want to risk it all for my work/play。 Analogous to Richard, I want to see myself flying the hot air balloon across the Pacific Ocean。 Not so much dare to dream in my case though since I have my head in the clouds (recently found out through the Myers-Briggs personality tests that I am the Philosopher type to constantly dream)。 I want to die working。 In my final days, I want to reminisce and genuinely smile, to say " I have had my share of fun in this lifetime"。 。。。more

Well written, easy to read book。 Was interesting to learn about Richards experiences and ability to create。 Didn't get personally invested in the actual content though。 Maybe it's because I think I'm hoping to read biographies that can provide insights to questions I'm more interested in。 Wouldn't personally call the history of the music & airline industry interesting but if that's your jam, then you should totes read this book! Reading this book gave me lots of insights in how I could overcome fear to take risks。 It has also enabled me to think more out of the box to solve complicated problems that end up being trivial after all。 When I finished this book, I realized that life isn't really about what you keep, but about the experience you gain while moving forward。 Reading this book gave me lots of insights in how I could overcome fear to take risks。 It has also enabled me to think more out of the box to solve complicated problems that end up being trivial after all。 When I finished this book, I realized that life isn't really about what you keep, but about the experience you gain while moving forward。 。。。more

。。。more
