the last quarter of the book made up for the drawn out beginningI’ll start by saying that the concept of this book is right up my alley。 Jesse has had an incredibly rough go at life （view spoiler）[after being not only gang raped by her ex boyfriend and his friends， but also by her stepfather when she was a CHILD （hide spoiler）] and is struggling to pick up the pieces。 Luckily， Bane is just the guy to help her get back on her feet。 （Also side note， but can I just say— why in the world would you n the last quarter of the book made up for the drawn out beginningI’ll start by saying that the concept of this book is right up my alley。 Jesse has had an incredibly rough go at life （view spoiler）[after being not only gang raped by her ex boyfriend and his friends， but also by her stepfather when she was a CHILD （hide spoiler）] and is struggling to pick up the pieces。 Luckily， Bane is just the guy to help her get back on her feet。 （Also side note， but can I just say— why in the world would you name a character a cool name like Roman and have everyone call him BANE？？？） The story starts off a bit slow as it revolves around Bane trying to get Jesse to open up to him， which is not an easy task， considering what Jesse has gone through。 Bane is slowly able to poke some holes into her walls， but little does he know， Jesse is slowly doing the same to him。 Now， the reason why I’m struggling in how to rate this book is because there were parts of the first half that had me just a teensy bit bored and frankly， a bit confused。 （view spoiler）[Namely， when Jesse wants to have sex with Bane a couple weeks after coming out of her hermit lifestyle that she’s been living in for over two years。 I don’t think it’s bad that Jesse wants to have sex after such a traumatic experience— in fact， more power to her; I just didn’t expect for it to happen so soon and for Jesse to be so forward about wanting it “hard and rough”。 （hide spoiler）] Idk。 All in all， I think my main problem with the beginning was that it was kinda slow。 I could also see at least one of the plot twists coming from a mile away， and it was gross reading Jesse trying to figure out her past while having a strong inkling about what that past might’ve entailed （view spoiler）[Yes， I’m talking about Jesse’s pedophilic stepfather。 What I didn’t see coming though was Jesse and Bane’s apparent step sibling relationship when it came to light that Jesse’s biological father was basically Bane’s stepfather figure （hide spoiler）]The book really started getting better during the last bit （view spoiler）[after Jesse realizes everything that had happened to her， including the truth about how she lost her virginity and the fact that Bane only approached her because of his six million dollar contract with her step father （hide spoiler）]。 What can I say， I love reading about men groveling for forgiveness。 Also， Jesse really found her strength at the end of the book and it was really nice seeing her deliver her own form of justice to those who wronged her with Bane trying his best to support her in any way he could。 Jesse was a strong heroine I could stand behind and Bane was a lovable asshole。 （view spoiler）[I do think the epilogue got a little weird when it was revealed that Hale， Bane’s friend， was sleeping with Bane’s mother。 Not only that but he was on his way to propose to her a year after their one night stand。 This was when the book started feeling a bit too incestuous for my liking。 Actually， that started when it came out that Jesse and Bane had a weird step sib connection going and they actually acknowledged it after sex 🤢 （hide spoiler）] 。。。more

Ok so I first read the HotHoles years ago but never actually got around to reading Banes story then so when I finally decided it was time I went back and fell back into their world so easily and I never thought that anyone would come close to Dean Coles place in my heart and then along come Bane！！！！ Bane is lost broken and is happy being used to get his place in the world that he knows he deserves。。。 I absolutely loved this guy from start to finish。 Hes broody， brash and basically doesn't let an Ok so I first read the HotHoles years ago but never actually got around to reading Banes story then so when I finally decided it was time I went back and fell back into their world so easily and I never thought that anyone would come close to Dean Coles place in my heart and then along come Bane！！！！ Bane is lost broken and is happy being used to get his place in the world that he knows he deserves。。。 I absolutely loved this guy from start to finish。 Hes broody， brash and basically doesn't let anyone on his wave length with him。。 until Jesse tumbles into his life！ These guys from the minute they met made me want them to get their HEA。。。 the chemistry was intense。。 the friendship。。the banter。。 it was amazing！ With both having their serious issues， troubles and pasts it was obvious it wouldn't be plain sailing for them both but this gives the story so much emotion angst and drama that keeps you flipping those pages to see whats next！ Love love love this story！ 。。。more

this book had no reason being so good。 jesse deserves the world。 i do think it felt like a savior book especially with roman thinking he had to save jesse but i’m glad jesse realized the only person that could help her was herself
