3。8。Este es uno de esos libros que prometen bastante， pero luego se quedan a medio gas。 La trama nos plantea el enfrentamiento de dos personajes antagónicos y su lucha por imponerse al otro， al mismo tiempo que se mezcla con un estilo de Dark academia y libro de superhéroes。 Esto último， creo yo， ha sido uno de mis principales problemas con la historia， porque la temática de superhéroes ha sido tan sobreexplotada que actualmente es muy difícil hacer algo sobresaliente y por alguna razón los escr 3。8。Este es uno de esos libros que prometen bastante， pero luego se quedan a medio gas。 La trama nos plantea el enfrentamiento de dos personajes antagónicos y su lucha por imponerse al otro， al mismo tiempo que se mezcla con un estilo de Dark academia y libro de superhéroes。 Esto último， creo yo， ha sido uno de mis principales problemas con la historia， porque la temática de superhéroes ha sido tan sobreexplotada que actualmente es muy difícil hacer algo sobresaliente y por alguna razón los escritores de libros no suelen ser muy buenos en ello （Brandon Sanderson escribió el libro más olvidable de su carrera con Steelheart y Renegados me hizo dudar de si realmente me gustaba el trabajo de Marissa Meyer）。 A V。 E。 Schwab le ocurre algo similar y es que ella por sí sola es bastante buena， me gusta mucho su narrativa y la trama inicia muy bien， con un formato que además vuelve el libro bastante adictivo。 Pero conforme avanza la la historia el estilo se torna repetitivo， cansado y cae rápidamente en lo predecible。 El desarrollo de personajes， que al principio iba bastante bien， también se queda corto， sobre todo con Eli， del que no sabemos muchos y quien， con el pasar de las páginas termina siendo bastante aburrido。 Víctor está un poco mejor， pero no tiene gracias， pues toda su personalidad se basa en estar obsesionado con Eli。 El resto， a excepción de Sidney， podrían o no estar ahí （i'm sorry Mitch， sabes que te quiero）。 Sumado a esto se siente un poco incómoda la manera en que tratan de venderte que Eli y Victor eran mejores amigos， cuando todo el tiempo， desde que inicia el libro， parecen estar juntos porque no les queda de otra。 En lineas generales puedo decir que ha sido una de mis grandes decepciones del año， pero no lo considero un libro malo， porque tiene bastantes puntos que quizás otras personas puedan encontrar atractivos y la primera parte me pareció muy adictiva， pero también tiene un par de problemas con su ejecución， como la ya mencionada falta de desarrollo de personajes， o situaciones que se apresuraron o se alargaron demasiado， así como ese final， que aunque está bien construido， flojea bastante。 Creo que si no eres muy asiduo al género el libro podría funcionar como una excelente introducción a las tramas de superhéroes， pero si eres como yo que ha visto esta clase de historias en todos los formatos posibles （series， películas， comics， amerimanga， manga， anime， etc） probablemente no te parezca la gran cosa。 Le doy un 3。8 de 5 porque como dije， no es un libro desastroso， pero fue una experiencia decepcionante。 。。。more

What a brilliantly different twist on a fantasy book！I adored Victor and Mitch and loved how the book split between past and present to see how it all started and why they are now in the position they are in。I also really appreciated the academia throughout the plot too， so many times we see people with powers where the plot doesn't explain why they have them， but Vicious goes into so much detail about the background behind it， and why Eli was even looking into ExtraOrdinary people in the first What a brilliantly different twist on a fantasy book！I adored Victor and Mitch and loved how the book split between past and present to see how it all started and why they are now in the position they are in。I also really appreciated the academia throughout the plot too， so many times we see people with powers where the plot doesn't explain why they have them， but Vicious goes into so much detail about the background behind it， and why Eli was even looking into ExtraOrdinary people in the first place。 I think it added a lot to the plot and helped make a connection to the characters much easier。 。。。more

I drank the Kool-Aid & finally gave in to read v e Schwab & I must say I am not disappointed at all！！！ I read this book in one sitting & I am dying to read the second book。 The writing was easy to follow， yet intriguing at the same time。 I will definitely add Viktor Vale to my list of morally grey protagonists， & just love the way he’s described as cunning & so intelligent。 Can’t wait for what’s next

I enjoyed this book。 Loved the exploration of whether Superheroes are good or bad and who makes that determination。 I had high expectations for this book after reading Addie LaRue。 I didn’t find this book as beautiful or compelling… but VE Schwab is fantastic at plotting out books， and developing complex characters。 I look forward to reading more of her work。

I loved everything about this book。 I went in with high expectations and I sure wasn't disappointed。From the books I've read by V。 E。 Schwab I think this is my favourite。 Let's start with the characters。 Victor Vale is one of the most complex and most well-written morally gray characters I've had the pleasure to read about。 He really does some bad things and he doesn't try to pretend otherwise but you can see that there are many layers to his character。 Apart from him I loved Sidney and Mitch。 E I loved everything about this book。 I went in with high expectations and I sure wasn't disappointed。From the books I've read by V。 E。 Schwab I think this is my favourite。 Let's start with the characters。 Victor Vale is one of the most complex and most well-written morally gray characters I've had the pleasure to read about。 He really does some bad things and he doesn't try to pretend otherwise but you can see that there are many layers to his character。 Apart from him I loved Sidney and Mitch。 Eli was also pretty interesting and what I really appreciated was that the reader can actually understand why he'd doing what he's doing （not justify it， but just understand）。 Serena fell flat for me but her relationships to the other characters were really interesting and compensated a bit for her lack of personality。I also think that this book is more 'action-packed' than other works by V。 E。 Schwab which made a very nice impression on me。 The writing was beautiful and there are so many quotes that I loved， even though the style of this book is more comic like with short chapters and not many descriptions。 Most of all though V。 E。 Schwab explores the spectrum of villainy in a very interesting and unique way and makes you question your own moral compass。 And without giving too much away I think she also did a great job in showing the threads of goodness inside the 'vicious' characters。 I can recommend it to fans of fantasy or comic books， but also in general if the premise sounds interesting to you， I promise the execution doesn't disappoint。 。。。more
