Summary

In the new Eve Dallas police thriller from #1 New York Times-bestselling author J。 D。 Robb, what looked like a lover's quarrel turned fatal has larger--and more terrifying--motives behind it。。。

The scene in the West Village studio appears to be classic crime-of-passion: two wine glasses by the bed, music playing, and a young sculptor named Ariel Byrd with the back of her head bashed in。 But when Dallas tracks down the wealthy Upper East Side woman who called 911, the details don't add up。 Gwen Huffman is wealthy, elegant, comforted by her handsome fiancé as she sheds tears over the trauma of finding the body--but why did it take an hour to report it? And why is she lying about little things?

As Eve and her team look into Gwen, her past, and the people around her, they find that the lies are about more than murder。 As with sculpture, they need to chip away at the layers of deception to find the shape within--and soon they're getting the FBI involved in a case that involves a sinister, fanatical group and a stunning criminal conspiracy。

After 52 books I'm running out of things to say about the In Death books。 Not because I'm loving them any less but because there are so many ways to gush about books and I think I've repeated myself often enough。This installment was especially harrowing because the premise felt all too likely。High praise again for J。D。 Robb, the only author who has managed to keep my attention for this number of books。 When is the next In Death title landing? I have read every book in this series and must say that , in my opinion, this is one of the best。 Wonderful story line, characters and ending。

J。D。 Robb's In Death series is the only book series I could imagine sticking with for 52 books (and counting)! I love the way Robb writes, and her books never fail to make me laugh。 The series is anchored around a memorable set of characters, who I can't help but love, but each story presents a new case to solve。 Faithless in Death captures just the right balance between old and new, and I appreciated the fact that it moves some of the characters' storylines forward。I particularly liked the way J。D。 Robb's In Death series is the only book series I could imagine sticking with for 52 books (and counting)! Eve and Roarke and the New York copsI always enjoy reading Nora's stories and especially her In Death stories, but this was especially written well and for the readers to really understand the sick and depraved and especially again the damn greedy bastards out there all in the name of money and power。 This crazy cult leaders and followers are just as sick with their human trafficking and torture techniques used on innocent people。 It really gets your mind to thinking when you do realize that a l Eve and Roarke and the New York copsI always enjoy reading Nora's stories and especially her In Death stories, but this was especially written well and for the readers to really understand the sick and depraved and especially again the damn greedy bastards out there all in the name of money and power。 This crazy cult leaders and followers are just as sick with their human trafficking and torture techniques used on innocent people。 It really gets your mind to thinking when you do realize that a lot of higher up people in this world are part of this sick and disgusting activities that take place on a daily basis。 I always love how Eve and Peabody make a great team when interviewing witnesses。 Great job for the entire NYPD team for dismantling this scum of the earth cult。 Happy reading。 。。。more

Excellent。 Did not want to put this one down。

I didn't find this book or the storyline very realistic。 I know a lot of people love these books because Eve always catches the bad guy in the end。 But sometimes you don't catch the bad guy and I feel that is something that is never looked at in this series。 The odds of this happening the way it did are just so far fetched, even for the future。 I used to really like these books and Nora Roberts but the books have changed and the way she responds to her fans sometimes just turns me off。 Kind of d I didn't find this book or the storyline very realistic。 I know a lot of people love these books because Eve always catches the bad guy in the end。 But sometimes you don't catch the bad guy and I feel that is something that is never looked at in this series。 The odds of this happening the way it did are just so far fetched, even for the future。 I used to really like these books and Nora Roberts but the books have changed and the way she responds to her fans sometimes just turns me off。 Kind of done reading her for a while。 。。。more

RushedI am a fan and have all the Dallas books。 I have ordered the next。 This seemed to me to be rushed, too much story in too few pages。 Missed some of the main characters inter actions that give you a break from the crime and an enjoyment of the characters personalities。 Still I await the next with anticipation。

#2021 - 22。 Audiobook。 First I have read of this author and probably my last。 Standard murder mystery but set in a tech-enhanced future。 All the yet to be invented technology makes solving a mystery, a piece of cake。 Not my pice of cake!!

A terrific if horrifying story!!!!!It's horrifying the way what starts as single murder turns into! When Eve starts to investigate the murder of a artist from the Village she never thought that she would find a vast criminal enterprise behind the simple killing。 It turns into a multi-agency operation and world wide take down。 Will Eve be able to work this one out? Can she take down this giant faux religious organazion? Find the answers in this excellent book。 Highly recommended。 A terrific if horrifying story!!!!!It's horrifying the way what starts as single murder turns into! This was one of Eve’s big cases。 What Nadine quips is her next book。 What looks like a simple lover’s quarrel gone wrong uncovers a vast criminal conspiracy among a hate group masking itself as a religion。 Edge of your seat take down。 On the happy happy joy joy side, Mavis and Leonardo bought a new house and invited Peabody & McNab to move into the separate mother-in-law suite。

Best installment in this series in a long time。

As much as the Stone Barrington series might be the ultimate male fantasy, I think that Eve Dallas fills that role for a lot of women, me included。There is the handsome prince intelligent, rich, used to be a bad boy but gave it up for love, and he even does dishes。 Then there is the princess, a kick-ass cop who always gets the bad guy, and lives in a castle with the prince, a cadaverous butler who has been the prince's mentor since childhood, and a fat cat。 Various other regular characters are i As much as the Stone Barrington series might be the ultimate male fantasy, I think that Eve Dallas fills that role for a lot of women, me included。There is the handsome prince intelligent, rich, used to be a bad boy but gave it up for love, and he even does dishes。 Then there is the princess, a kick-ass cop who always gets the bad guy, and lives in a castle with the prince, a cadaverous butler who has been the prince's mentor since childhood, and a fat cat。 Various other regular characters are interesting and fun too。Both the prince and princess were severely abused and neglected as children。The bad guys are usually someone that a woman can get a real hate on for, so double the satisfaction when they are brought to justice, and the frequent punishment of life in a cave off-planet seems eminently satisfactory。I've read this series since it started, and wait eagerly each year for the next installment。 This one was no disappointment。 。。。more

I very much enjoy the adventures of Eve and Roarke, but let's face it, some books are better than others。 Especially the last 20 or so。 They've either felt 'been there done that' - like Eve trying to come to grips with xmas yet again。 Or the mystery has been anything but, as way too soon in the plot the killer is identified and we spend most of the book going thru police procedures to catch them。This tale had some zig and the occasional zag。 We had unlikeable suspects and hapless victims caught I very much enjoy the adventures of Eve and Roarke, but let's face it, some books are better than others。 Especially the last 20 or so。 They've either felt 'been there done that' - like Eve trying to come to grips with xmas yet again。 Or the mystery has been anything but, as way too soon in the plot the killer is identified and we spend most of the book going thru police procedures to catch them。This tale had some zig and the occasional zag。 We had unlikeable suspects and hapless victims caught up in what ended up being one large web of lies, intrigue and secrets that Eve has to unravel。 I liked how one small murder became the proverbial gust of wind that brought down the house of cards。 The killer wasn't that obvious and we had a heap of potential suspects all with motive。And we also had some small movement fwd in regards to the evolution of Mavis and Peabody's lives。 Just enough to annoy Eve but it felt nice to have some of the side characters get some reward for all their efforts。 。。。more

It's rare that I tear up when I read one of these books, but there was a moment in this one where I did。 The pacing was good。 Little details about characters any long time reader of this series are sprinkled throughout the book。 Definitely a strong volume in this series。 It's rare that I tear up when I read one of these books, but there was a moment in this one where I did。 The pacing was good。 Little details about characters any long time reader of this series are sprinkled throughout the book。 Definitely a strong volume in this series。 。。。more

Fanfare, fanatics, finalityOnce more J。D。 Robb manages to surprise you with Lieutenant Dallas and Roarke。 When a budding artist is murdered and Eve catches the case, her investigation leads to a voter's nest of fanatical, sexist, and brutal men and women funded by the rich and political。 Cutting close to the bone this case reminds Dallas of her brief brutal childhood that could of broken her instead of forging her steel backbone。 An excellent story again!
