If you're a Luke Skywalker fan, I think this is a great casual read for you! Four short manga stories, all with unique and beautiful artwork, well laid-out and easy-to-follow, some funny, some exciting, some touching, all worth reading! I finished this manga in about an hour, so it was a really nice way to get some reading in and feed my fandom without taking up my whole day! This collection of short stories is adapted by some awesome artists。 I enjoyed two of the stories much more than the other two。 I really liked “I, Droid” by Haruichi, the artist behind the Leia manga I also loved。 I think the concept was interesting and well executed。 It’s fun to see what R2 also got up to in the ‘time in between’ movies。 I also really enjoyed “Big Inside” by Akira Himekawa, the artist behind the Legend of Zelda mangas as well。 Their art is just so visually pleasing to me。 And t This collection of short stories is adapted by some awesome artists。 I enjoyed two of the stories much more than the other two。 I really liked “I, Droid” by Haruichi, the artist behind the Leia manga I also loved。 I think the concept was interesting and well executed。 It’s fun to see what R2 also got up to in the ‘time in between’ movies。 I also really enjoyed “Big Inside” by Akira Himekawa, the artist behind the Legend of Zelda mangas as well。 Their art is just so visually pleasing to me。 And this story, narrated by an unnamed biologist, was really interesting and delved into Luke’s psyche。 I didn’t care for the art of “The Starship Graveyard” so it made it less enjoyable for me personally。 On the flip side, I liked the art of “The Tale of Lugubrious Mote” but didn’t care for the story at all。 Overall a fun collection for any Star Wars and manga lovers! 。。。more

This manga wonderfully brings to life the stories told in Star Wars: Journey to Star Wars: the Last Jedi - The Legends of Luke Skywalker。 I enjoyed that book enough, though some stories I am glad to call "Legends" as I wouldn't love them if they were official canon vs heresay。 That being said, the art in this one captures the juvenile nature of the book and done with some great artwork。 I love these Star Wars Mangas and I look forward to more of them! The art style threw me off at first, but I really enjoyed the stories! Luke and his legacy live on。

The artwork is 😍 (especially “The Tale of Lugubrious Mote”)。 Kinda bummed the other tale/legend about “the Tide” didn’t make the cut though 😕

The art is of inconsistent quality, but when it's good (specifically Haruichi), it's quite good, and the stories aren't bad。 The art is of inconsistent quality, but when it's good (specifically Haruichi), it's quite good, and the stories aren't bad。 。。。more

Fun first read of the year! Each of the short stories were enjoyable but I have to say the last one was definitely my favorite。

Four nicely done stories about some of Luke's adventures post-ROTJ, adapted from Ken Liu's Legends of Luke Skywalker by manga artists。The stories are great and the art is lovely。 My favorite is the fourth story - the artist really captured the kindness of Luke's face。 Four nicely done stories about some of Luke's adventures post-ROTJ, adapted from Ken Liu's Legends of Luke Skywalker by manga artists。The stories are great and the art is lovely。 My favorite is the fourth story - the artist really captured the kindness of Luke's face。 。。。more

Enjoyable, as far as it goes。。。 but this manga adaptation omits what, for me, was the most compelling part of Liu's original: people on a journey, sharing stories and discussing what they mean for them in life。 Without any of that framing -- who is telling this tale, where did they hear it, how does the tale reflect the teller's character / values / etc -- the stories themselves are just random okay adventures。 I don't hate it, but I can't really recommend it, either。 Get your Skywalker fix from Enjoyable, as far as it goes。。。 but this manga adaptation omits what, for me, was the most compelling part of Liu's original: people on a journey, sharing stories and discussing what they mean for them in life。 Without any of that framing -- who is telling this tale, where did they hear it, how does the tale reflect the teller's character / values / etc -- the stories themselves are just random okay adventures。 I don't hate it, but I can't really recommend it, either。 Get your Skywalker fix from Liu's original book, instead。 。。。more

I didn’t like the story’s selected to use in this Manga。 I also didn’t care for the art。

I read the text book of these stories and I think the manga is even better!

A bunch of good stories。 I appreciate the fact that, despite the plots all being written by Ken Liu, each story got its own artist。

This was a very good manga about Luke Skywalker。 I learned many things about Luke Skywalker after reading this manga。 These are the things I learned about Luke Skywalker from reading this manga:1。 Luke Skywalker has a metal arm, which makes him, at least partially, a droid。2。 Sometimes he has PTSD flashbacks about that time Obi-Wan died。 This was a very sad moment for Luke Skywalker。3。 Luke Skywalker is a pretty cool guy。 Eh is full of HOPE and doesn't afraid of anything。4。 Contrary to popular b This was a very good manga about Luke Skywalker。 I learned many things about Luke Skywalker after reading this manga。 These are the things I learned about Luke Skywalker from reading this manga:1。 Luke Skywalker has a metal arm, which makes him, at least partially, a droid。2。 Sometimes he has PTSD flashbacks about that time Obi-Wan died。 This was a very sad moment for Luke Skywalker。3。 Luke Skywalker is a pretty cool guy。 Eh is full of HOPE and doesn't afraid of anything。4。 Contrary to popular belief, Luke Skywalker did not defeat the rancor with the Force on his own。 A flea told him to do it。5。 W̵͔̅ͅȆ̸͔̿͘'̸͙̲̆̽R̷̯͈̥̀͋E̸̺͈̗̞͑̈́̈̕ ̷͇̒̓̒̈́Ą̷̣̠͓̈́́̋L̸̢̻̻̝̍̇̏̒L̸̖̏͛ ̵̘͇̲̫̈́L̵͇̹̥̉̃̂͠Ų̶̼̇̈́Ḱ̴͈̥̘̉Ë̷̙̑̂ ̵̖̘̻̣͑̀́S̵͓̤̬̈́̑͆K̴̡̗̻̐͛͊̒Y̷͈͍̥̼̾͂̈́W̴̗͌̋̄Ǻ̴̗L̴̟̙̑̈́K̶̡̹̳͚͂E̸͎̜̹͑R̵̨̳̫̪̀̽͝All in all, I give this manga 2/5 stars。 The 2 stars are for the part where the flea joins the circus, but 3 stars have been docked because Luke Skywalker doesn't know the difference between slug stomach acid and water, even though he was a moisture farmer。 。。。more

This was a well-presented but odd collection of manga stories, almost like a collection of really awesome fanfics。 Each story had interesting and (mostly) unique takes set in the Star Wars universe, with the myth of Luke as a central theme。 Fun, hopeful and quick read。

A bit disappointing, but still good for something bought on impulse。 Really liked the art。 Wish the stories were more connected。 Would read more like this。

I like Ken Liu's short story collection, and I enjoy manga, so I was looking forward to this manga adaptation of four of Liu's stories。 I'm disappointed that the four stories selected didn't include my favorite from the original book, "Fishing in the Deluge," and instead includes "The Tale of Lugubrious Mote," my least favorite。 But it's still fun to see the manga version of that story, along with "The Starship Graveyard," "I, Droid," and "Big Inside。" The stories have a pretty consistent look a I like Ken Liu's short story collection, and I enjoy manga, so I was looking forward to this manga adaptation of four of Liu's stories。 I'm disappointed that the four stories selected didn't include my favorite from the original book, "Fishing in the Deluge," and instead includes "The Tale of Lugubrious Mote," my least favorite。 But it's still fun to see the manga version of that story, along with "The Starship Graveyard," "I, Droid," and "Big Inside。" The stories have a pretty consistent look and tone, despite each one being done by a different artist or team。 Overall, the post–Return of the Jedi stories fit in well with my ideas of what Luke did after the fall of the Empire (and there's little to suggest what happens to lead up to the sequel trilogy, which I prefer to ignore。I like seeing Star Wars expanding beyond its usual boundaries and inviting different creators in to tell stories。 For most of the artists in this collection, this is their first English-language manga publication, and I think that's really cool for SW to be the means of introducing their work to a wider audience。 It was strange, however, to read a manga that flows left-to-right, though!I hope this is an indication of Lucasfilm encouraging new directions in SW books—I enjoyed seeing that galaxy in this format。 。。。more

Luke Skywalker: The Manga is a compilation of four short stories about one of the most beloved characters in the classic and still striving Star Wars series。There is no continuous storyline here, however, each chapter revolves around the concept of Luke being an otherwordly being that's surrounded by myth, and how characters from different backgrounds are able to perceive him from one perspective or another。The pace is non-existent here, so it's difficult to really miss with this book。 Each chap Luke Skywalker: The Manga is a compilation of four short stories about one of the most beloved characters in the classic and still striving Star Wars series。There is no continuous storyline here, however, each chapter revolves around the concept of Luke being an otherwordly being that's surrounded by myth, and how characters from different backgrounds are able to perceive him from one perspective or another。The pace is non-existent here, so it's difficult to really miss with this book。 Each chapter manages to give the reader a general idea of setting, timeline, and how far the original story has progressed through simple details, such as the way Luke himself looks。The first two stories are very enjoyable, both boasting original art styles and captivating perspectives on the Star Wars universe。 It's always fun to see artists tackle stories in well-known franchises, and see them develop their own fun twists in them。The standout here is clearly "I, Droid" which takes the perspective of a droid who is forced into slave labor, with no choice of retaliation, until Luke appears and gives her hope。 I especially liked how the general consensus on Luke in this whole book was how he was displayed as a metaphor for hope - a being that gives everyone a chance wherever he goes。However, not all stories were amazing or interesting。 Part 3 was a retelling of an iconic scene in the old movies, but with a minor twist in there。 Unfortunately, it didn't amount to much。Luke Skywalker: The Manga may not be remembered by Star Wars fans all over the world in a couple of years, however, the ones that do manage to give it a chance won't be disappointed。 。。。more
