I'm a huge One Piece fanatic, so of course I had to read this one to get all of that extra lore! It's really interesting to see all of this backstory on Ace and how he came to be the Ace we saw in the manga。 I would definitely recommend this to any One Piece fan, whether they've read the manga or are anime-only。 I'm a huge One Piece fanatic, so of course I had to read this one to get all of that extra lore! The story is fine, but something's have way to many explanation。 If you are a OP fan you know how the world works and if you aren't then you don't care。 I am not here for exposition The story is fine, but something's have way to many explanation。 If you are a OP fan you know how the world works and if you aren't then you don't care。 I am not here for exposition 。。。more

Nothing new added to the overall storyChapter 1 is good。 I liked the atmosphere of it。 The rest of the book is ok more or less。

Honestly, the writing of this is pretty mediocre, and I'm wondering if that's because of translation issues more than anything, but I do love Ace, so I'll take what I can get。 Honestly, the writing of this is pretty mediocre, and I'm wondering if that's because of translation issues more than anything, but I do love Ace, so I'll take what I can get。 。。。more

This review has been hidden because it contains spoilers。 To view it, click here。 It's nice to see how Ace got his fruit, and how the spade pirates formed。 It still kinda lacked in detail, but Ace's crew is no longer nameless and faceless。 It's nice to see how Ace got his fruit, and how the spade pirates formed。 It still kinda lacked in detail, but Ace's crew is no longer nameless and faceless。 。。。more

ExcellentAce is still my favorite character and I love that I get to learn more about him。 This book was great and really showcases how the Will of D is dangerous。 I see why the government is so scared of those with the name that's not on their side。 I hope more novels of characters like this come out。 The manga already created a vast world。 So surprised and happy that Oda still has stories to tell。 ExcellentAce is still my favorite character and I love that I get to learn more about him。 This book was great and really showcases how the Will of D is dangerous。 I see why the government is so scared of those with the name that's not on their side。 I hope more novels of characters like this come out。 The manga already created a vast world。 So surprised and happy that Oda still has stories to tell。 。。。more

Nice quick read。 Def think this is more geared towards a new reader whose starting to like the One Piece universe。 Takes about an hour to read through。 Well written though。

Ace è stato uno dei personaggi che più volevo scoprire。 Con questa prima parte lo si inizia a conoscere meglio。。。

Ugh, my bby, my boy, too wholesome for this world。 Just give me all of the Ace content, ok? I miss him。

It’s YA literature so the quality of the writing is alright but shallow as if the notion that teens might have comprehensive reading skills is still a faraway notion。 The characters are charming but also irksome in a way that makes you wanna shake them by the shoulders。 Expected more to be honest。

I love One Piece, so I couldn't wait to read this book about one of the coolest characters。 I wish it was from Ace's point of view。 Though reading it from Deuce's point of view was a bit slow reading at first it did get better。 Very interesting to see how Ace started off。 Looking forward to reading the next book in series。 I love One Piece, so I couldn't wait to read this book about one of the coolest characters。 I wish it was from Ace's point of view。 Though reading it from Deuce's point of view was a bit slow reading at first it did get better。 Very interesting to see how Ace started off。 Looking forward to reading the next book in series。 。。。more

I really loved learning more about Ace's time as captain of the Spade pirates and disovering how he obtained the Mera Mera no Mi was interesting。 I just wish it was longer and had well, more。 I wish we could have a whole novel series or even spin off manga exploring Ace's journey from when he left Luffy to become a pirate up to when he joins Whitebeard。 But alas, that may be too much to hope for。 Nonetheless I did still enjoy this short and sweet little novel (I may just be a little Ace biased)。 I really loved learning more about Ace's time as captain of the Spade pirates and disovering how he obtained the Mera Mera no Mi was interesting。 I just wish it was longer and had well, more。 I wish we could have a whole novel series or even spin off manga exploring Ace's journey from when he left Luffy to become a pirate up to when he joins Whitebeard。 But alas, that may be too much to hope for。 Nonetheless I did still enjoy this short and sweet little novel (I may just be a little Ace biased)。 。。。more

"He was the sun。 Everyone looked up to Ace。 Even our enemies had a gruding respect for him。 Ace was the center of everyone and everything。 But because the sun was too bright, it was always alone。 No one could get too close to him。 If you stood too close, you were likely to burn up。 " - Ace's Story。 Termine esta maravillosa novela y solo puedo decir que me encanto, tiene 129 páginas que se leen muy rápido。 La historia de Ace es narrada por Deuce quien se convertirá en el primer miembro de la trip "He was the sun。 Everyone looked up to Ace。 Even our enemies had a gruding respect for him。 Ace was the center of everyone and everything。 But because the sun was too bright, it was always alone。 No one could get too close to him。 If you stood too close, you were likely to burn up。 " - Ace's Story。 Termine esta maravillosa novela y solo puedo decir que me encanto, tiene 129 páginas que se leen muy rápido。 La historia de Ace es narrada por Deuce quien se convertirá en el primer miembro de la tripulación Spade Pirates。 Aquí encontramos estos temas: Como Ace adquirió la fruta del diablo, de donde sale su pequeño barco llamada Striker; ese que usa cuando se encuentra a Luffy en Arabasta; también vemos el inicio de Ace como capitán y alguno de los miembros de su tripulación。 En cuanto a antagonistas pues está la Marina。 Y todo esto hasta llegar a Sabaody para ir al nuevo mundo。 Tengo que decir que si antes amaba a Ace ahora necesito buscar un Phoenix Down para traerlo de vuelta y casarme con el si o si。。。。porque es la persona más buena, hermosa y que si, que tiene preocupaciones y tristeza en su corazon pero eso no le impide proteger a sus Nakamas y ser bueno con todo aquel que se cruce en su camino siempre y cuando tengan buenas intenciones。 。。。more

This review has been hidden because it contains spoilers。 To view it, click here。 The moment where Isuka had her realization on the true nature of Dorrow is a bit "save Martha" to me。 Personally, I think it would work well enough if she just sees her mentor is a cruel individual without setting Dorrow as the person who killed her parents。 I mean, come on, you couldn't notice something is wrong with him while his weapon is a flamethrower? However, I admit this one criticism is a bit nit-picky and my head cannon oriented。 Otherwise, great story with great characters! I was SUPER excited Netgalley allowed me to review One Piece: Ace’s Story。 One Piece is my favorite manga/anime and Ace is my favorite character。 I have to say, though, it wasn’t what I was expecting。 I expected a story about Ace from Ace。 Well, I was half right。 This light novel is written from Masked Deuce’s POV and describes pieces of his story with his fiery captain。 A part of me liked getting to know more about Masked Deuce, but a larger part of me REALLY wanted to hear Ace talk。 The story I was SUPER excited Netgalley allowed me to review One Piece: Ace’s Story。 One Piece is my favorite manga/anime and Ace is my favorite character。 I have to say, though, it wasn’t what I was expecting。 I expected a story about Ace from Ace。 Well, I was half right。 This light novel is written from Masked Deuce’s POV and describes pieces of his story with his fiery captain。 A part of me liked getting to know more about Masked Deuce, but a larger part of me REALLY wanted to hear Ace talk。 The story feels like it loses something because it’s not from Ace。 This is especially so, because readers only get bits and pieces of what had to be amazing adventures。 In the One Piece world, Ace made a name for himself fast and made comrades just like Luffy。 The time skips that happen in the book feel like a disservice to the reader who have looked forward to more of the Spade Pirates。 The one thing I will say One Piece: Ace’s Story does well is the writing itself。 The light novel translation of Eiichiro Oda’s characters and style is very well done。 I felt like I could see the One Piece world and his characters (including those who rarely show) as I was reading。 Some light novels can’t do that and some authors can’t write like that。 All in all, I would recommend this because it is a One Piece light novel about the Spade Pirates/Ace。 Those who like the One Piece world would still like it。 I can already see the increase of fanfictions。 。。。more

WARNING: You will love Ace more than you did before As a One Piece fans, it is a well-known knowledge that Eichiiro Oda, the creator of this masterpiece story is a man full of story to tell that sometimes it’s overwhelmed him。 To have this spin off in the form of novel is not at all a problem for me since we know Oda’s number one priority is to focused on the main story of drawing One Piece。 I am grateful enough to get my share of another story by Oda。 Especially about our beloved Ace。My first WARNING: You will love Ace more than you did before As a One Piece fans, it is a well-known knowledge that Eichiiro Oda, the creator of this masterpiece story is a man full of story to tell that sometimes it’s overwhelmed him。 To have this spin off in the form of novel is not at all a problem for me since we know Oda’s number one priority is to focused on the main story of drawing One Piece。 I am grateful enough to get my share of another story by Oda。 Especially about our beloved Ace。My first impression of it is what a smart move to narrate the story from second person’s perspective。 Just like in the manga, the sideline commentary impacted our view on The Straw Hat, the same could be apply to Ace。 As Ace is character full of surprise and wonder。 Deuce, Ace’s first mate, the narrator of the story is a character that has this nostalgic feeling very much like early One Piece of The East Blue。 Someone like Coby with tense and humble upbringing。 While Ace, wow the narration depicts Ace 100% correctly。 I repeat, correctly。 Chef kiss! What was the real Ace like? He was the kind of person who shared his only food with a starving man, when he himself was already starving。 The translator, Stephen Paul is the same man who translates the official manga for US Shonen Jump/VIZ。 He did a good job as the words are made simple and very modest so it got the same sincere feeling as the manga however there are also some downfall of it for me。 The narrative lack two things that are cores of the world of One Piece: excitement of a new island and comedyThe excitement has partly something to do with Deuce’s narrative but for the most part from the lack of build-up excitement to embrace new island/ adventures。 While Ace is a walking bundle of joy, the other character didn’t share the same energy。For the comedy, well, I think the problem is momentum。 There are some humor that hit it and i laugh reaaally loud but there are some that straight up cringe。 Like I know how Oda would draw it, i can imagine it perfectly but the depiction in the novel not at all helping。 This is a very short spin-off with more potential。 A treat for fans with new information and hints。 Can’t wait for the next volume 。。。more
