Love, love, LOVE THIS ART STYLE!Very unique style from Paru Itagaki that reminds me of the very diverse and beautifully dark art styles of Matt Wagner's Grendel series。 There were panels and moments in this volume that I wished I could frame and marvel forever。 Very different from the usual manga aesthetic approach。 The art alone resonates with me enough to pay the full price of each short volume。But also like most manga series, it feels very slow-paced to me。 There is a lot of story to tell tha Love, love, LOVE THIS ART STYLE!Very unique style from Paru Itagaki that reminds me of the very diverse and beautifully dark art styles of Matt Wagner's Grendel series。 There were panels and moments in this volume that I wished I could frame and marvel forever。 Very different from the usual manga aesthetic approach。 The art alone resonates with me enough to pay the full price of each short volume。But also like most manga series, it feels very slow-paced to me。 There is a lot of story to tell that I am extremely eager to pursue, but only a small snapshot of that story is in ONE volume and that frustrates me so freaking much! Many characters still to explore, many stories still to venture, and not enough space to put it all yet。Hungry for more, and moving on to volume 2。 。。。more
K Dezendorf,
This is hands down my all-time favorite manga I've read。 Ever。 It has it all。 Fun and memorable characters, deep themes, and fantastic story arcs which kept me furiously turning the pages。 It's got humor, romance, as well as some darker tones。 It does well in balancing the grim with light-hearted humor and genuinely warm moments。 The main character is so endearing, meekly trying to fumble his way through school, but protecting those he loves with savage tenacity。 I finished the entire series in This is hands down my all-time favorite manga I've read。 Ever。 It has it all。 Fun and memorable characters, deep themes, and fantastic story arcs which kept me furiously turning the pages。 It's got humor, romance, as well as some darker tones。 It does well in balancing the grim with light-hearted humor and genuinely warm moments。 The main character is so endearing, meekly trying to fumble his way through school, but protecting those he loves with savage tenacity。 I finished the entire series in a week。! 。。。more

I've never read manga before but I threw this one on my kindle and thought I'd give it a shot。 I was pleasantly surprised by how much I enjoyed it and how fast I read it。I can't remember how I heard about this manga since manga isn't something I ever really had any interest in。 I found out about it and heard it was picked up by Netflix as a show but that's the extent of the information I found out before I put it in the back of my mind。 when I finally decided I wanted to try manga I figured I'd I've never read manga before but I threw this one on my kindle and thought I'd give it a shot。 I was pleasantly surprised by how much I enjoyed it and how fast I read it。I can't remember how I heard about this manga since manga isn't something I ever really had any interest in。 I found out about it and heard it was picked up by Netflix as a show but that's the extent of the information I found out before I put it in the back of my mind。 when I finally decided I wanted to try manga I figured I'd give it a shot on my kindle since manga is black and white anyways and relatively the same size as my kindle screen。 I had no idea what manga to load up onto my kindle but I'd heard of one about anthropomorphic animals called "beastars" and decided it was my best bet。 so yea, I went into it pretty much only knowing it was about anthropomorphic animal characters (which was apparently enough for me to pick it up)I truly had no idea how to even read manga, so the first few pages were me figuring out 1)I'm reading the book backwards。 like I'm literally flipping backwards through my kindle (the progress bar even starts at the opposite end) and 2) I'm also reading the pages backwards (read the panels and speech bubbles on the right before the panels and speech bubbles on the left) alright so I'm a few pages in and finally figuring out how to even read the darn thing when -- holy smokes did I already finish the chapter? ok well that was good。 this is going pretty swiftly and is really capturing my attention and -- oh my gosh I just finished the entire first volume!onto the next! 。。。more
Pumpkin,
A gripping start to a series。 I love the characters and the plot that quickly got forming。 The world holding was built seamlessly into the plot, making everything a very smooth read。

Great reinforcement after the watching the Netflix show。 Love the illustrations and Legoshi!

I don’t usually put manga as currently reading cuz I don’t want it to count for my reading challenge but maaaan I’m so behind on that shit and I also want to document my experience with this manga cuz I love the story a lot。 Legoshi is the cutest, do I find him hot。。。I’ll restrain myself from answering cuz I don’t wanna be thrown in the beastiality jail😂

Zootopia in high school。 That's one gist of it, anyway。 Despite a silent urge to dislike Beastars I find myself enjoying it。 The design on the animals at first felt too awkward, but grew on me as the manga went on。 The biggest pull of genius the art commits itself to is the atmospheric pressure created between predator and prey interactions, both when it feels like life and death and when it's a normal conversation。 There's not much explaining that will convince someone of what I mean, the way Zootopia in high school。 That's one gist of it, anyway。 Despite a silent urge to dislike Beastars I find myself enjoying it。 The design on the animals at first felt too awkward, but grew on me as the manga went on。 The biggest pull of genius the art commits itself to is the atmospheric pressure created between predator and prey interactions, both when it feels like life and death and when it's a normal conversation。 There's not much explaining that will convince someone of what I mean, the way the art works here is definitely a read and find out。 The quality of the art itself comes across sketchy。 Narf narf :3 There's elements of this comic that don't excite me, delight me, or move me at all。 Yet, I wouldn't mind picking up volume 2 if/when I come across it。 Looks like Fairy Tale and Beastars are currently on my radar。 Whod've thought? 。。。more

At some point this manga takes a turn and gets a bit too confusing。 It turns from a human society with animal tendencies to an animal society with animal tendencies。 I'm not sure if it recovers from that sharp left turn, but the ending is nice。 At some point this manga takes a turn and gets a bit too confusing。 It turns from a human society with animal tendencies to an animal society with animal tendencies。 I'm not sure if it recovers from that sharp left turn, but the ending is nice。 。。。more
ᗩᑎᗪᖇEᗯ,
After watching the first couple of episodes of the anime adaptation of this series I decided I had to check out the original manga。Volume One does not disappoint。 The art is a little rough/sketchy but it works。 The story is essentially the same as the anime, but I prefer the order of telling in the manga。 Scenes seem to flow more smoothly here。Characters are distinctive and fun and there is darkness afoot, far more than the family-friendly cover art suggests。Four BEASTARS。 Recommended!

This review has been hidden because it contains spoilers。 To view it, click here。 I have mixed feelings。 I was not a fan of the art style, and the division of herbivores and carnivores was。。。very pointed。 Especially since apparently eating meat is not allowed in this world。 Even carnivores get to eat beans for protein。。。and there was a murder, but no one seems to be trying to find the killer? I felt it was very disjointed。

Weird idea, yet entertaining。 It's my first manga series,so I don't know if it is normal for manga drawings to be scribbly and undetailed, which I didn't like, specially when compared to the anime, but the overall experience were enjoyable。 I will definitely read vol。 2。 Weird idea, yet entertaining。 It's my first manga series,so I don't know if it is normal for manga drawings to be scribbly and undetailed, which I didn't like, specially when compared to the anime, but the overall experience were enjoyable。 I will definitely read vol。 2。 。。。more
