Summary

I was so excited to read this book, but I was disappointed。 The whole thing was cheesy。 The characters were not very likable, and the plot line was conveniently unrealistic (for example, how the characters reacted to certain things)。 The characters respond to things or let things fly that would most likely not happen in real life, and sometimes the storyline comes together too picture perfect。 It’s silly。 Monique is extremely boring as well and her story never pulled me in。 There just wasn’t any I was so excited to read this book, but I was disappointed。 The whole thing was cheesy。 The characters were not very likable, and the plot line was conveniently unrealistic (for example, how the characters reacted to certain things)。 The characters respond to things or let things fly that would most likely not happen in real life, and sometimes the storyline comes together too picture perfect。 It’s silly。 Monique is extremely boring as well and her story never pulled me in。 There just wasn’t any true depth to this book。 。。。more

How do I being。 It honestly feels like an honor to read this beautiful piece by Taylor Reid。 I can only hope to the love Evelyn had throughout a world of pain。 I have no words。 Read this book。

Ay Evelyn no puedo odiarte😭

4。5 stars。 Loved how this book read and how real the life story of Evelyn seemed。 The twist came a little bit too abruptly but I felt (and cried) for Evelyn through each of her heart breaks

Abigail Cruz

I honestly did not realize how much I would love this book。 I was intrigued from start to finish。 It is one of those books that you just don't want to put down。 The characters felt like real people, painfully human and complex。 I read another review that essentially sums up why I loved it so much: "I think a lot about the idea of love as something dangerous, as something that you have to fight for。 And it's only recently that I've decided that's something that probably has to do with loving wome I honestly did not realize how much I would love this book。 I was intrigued from start to finish。 It is one of those books that you just don't want to put down。 The characters felt like real people, painfully human and complex。 I read another review that essentially sums up why I loved it so much: "I think a lot about the idea of love as something dangerous, as something that you have to fight for。 And it's only recently that I've decided that's something that probably has to do with loving women。" The book is obviously centered around the life of Evelyn Hugo, but even more so the struggle of being LGBT+ in a time where it is not accepted。 "In reading about the past and thinking about the past, I am constantly, daily, reminded how being born ten years earlier would have made everything that much more dangerous, that much more violent, that much more fearful。 And there is something so woefully romantic to me about the fact that there were people who braved that climate and loved anyway and paved the path, while doing so, for me and so many others。"Some quotes from the actual book that really drew me in to love this book:“I spent half my time loving her and the other half hiding how much I loved her。” “And it will be the tragedy of my life that I cannot love you enough to make you mine。 That you cannot be loved enough to be anyone’s。” “Please never forget that the sun rises and sets with your smile。 At least to me it does。 You’re the only thing on this planet worth worshipping。” “It’s always been fascinating to me how things can be simultaneously true and false, how people can be good and bad all in one, how someone can love you in a way that is beautifully selfless while serving themselves ruthlessly。” “She always made sure the bad was outweighed by so much good。 I。。。well, I didn't do that for her。 I made it fifty-fifty。 Which is about the cruelest thing you can do to someone you love, give them just enough good to make them stick through a hell of a lot of bad。” “People are messy, and love can be ugly。 I’m inclined to always err on the side of compassion。” “No one is just a victim or a victor。 Everyone is somewhere in between。 People who go around casting themselves as one or the other are not only kidding themselves, but they’re also painfully unoriginal。” 。。。more

I feel like anyone could enjoy this book。 。。。more

Loved! Totally fell into this story and appreciated the depth of the characters。

I am honestly trying to find the words to describe how I feel after reading this book。It was truly breathtaking, beautifully written and so realistically heartbreaking that it left me sat feeling overwhelmingly emotionless and emotional at the the same time。 The bittersweet ending and real life lessons written throughout the book had me contemplating life and every selfish and unselfish decision I’ve ever made。 It reminded me of losses I’ve experienced in my life, friendships I’ve built, and peop I am honestly trying to find the words to describe how I feel after reading this book。It was truly breathtaking, beautifully written and so realistically heartbreaking that it left me sat feeling overwhelmingly emotionless and emotional at the the same time。 The bittersweet ending and real life lessons written throughout the book had me contemplating life and every selfish and unselfish decision I’ve ever made。 It reminded me of losses I’ve experienced in my life, friendships I’ve built, and people I’ve come to know。 It reminded me of the beauty of life but also the harsh truths of the real world。 It taught of different loves, the beautiful and the cruel ones。 And overall made me sad but not in the regretful way, just that it’s sad how it has ended but it was always supposed to end this way。I would honestly recommend this to anyone and everyone it was a really beautiful book。 。。。more

This review has been hidden because it contains spoilers。 To view it, click here。 Oh my GOD!!!!! What a great book。 It leaves you wanting more but also answers all of your questions。 My only critique is that the plot twist of James Grant being the man in the car should have been brought on earlier in the story。 I would have liked to see how Monique reacted to this and how she processed this loss along with Evelyn revisiting her losses。 I would have liked to see Monique’s storyline put more in the forefront or more in the background- one or the other。 It was like if it was les Oh my GOD!!!!! Such a good book, I really loved how you came to have an understanding of the characters。 I thought the plot was great, sometimes I think books can centre around one specific even too long but this was beautifully written。 I could see parts of myself in each character and overall just loved this book。 Excited to read more by TJR!
