Finally we get a sapphic royal story。 A normal girl falling for a princess (but she didn’t know that her roommate was the princess)。 This was such a cute story with amazing characters。 I loved Flora!

Overall I enjoyed the characters and plot of this book, but I think the pacing was a little off。 Had the book taken a little longer to develop everyone's relationships, and given itself the time it needed to execute the idea, it would have gotten a much better review from me。 Additionally: I had no idea this book was the second in a series! it was definitely a fun book, but i wasn’t always very fond of the writing style。 i don’t necessarily like first person pov in the first place and the writing felt a bit sloppy from time to time。 however, it was still a fun and quick read。 the thing that kind of disappointed me was the lack of romance。 i expected way more cute moments and stuff to be honest, but somehow the romance felt like it was rushed and happened too late at the same time。 the ending was rushed as well which really pissed m it was definitely a fun book, but i wasn’t always very fond of the writing style。 i don’t necessarily like first person pov in the first place and the writing felt a bit sloppy from time to time。 however, it was still a fun and quick read。 the thing that kind of disappointed me was the lack of romance。 i expected way more cute moments and stuff to be honest, but somehow the romance felt like it was rushed and happened too late at the same time。 the ending was rushed as well which really pissed me off not gonna lie。 so many things were left unanswered and there were a ton of loose ends。 overall tho, its a fun and quick read。 not a literary masterpiece but fun enough and the wlw “i fell in love with my classmate but she’s a literal princess” trope was looong overdue。 。。。more

Kind of a basic rom-com but definitely a fun read! It gave me 'I'm not like the other girls' vibes but the rest of the story made up for that。 Definitely the right book to mend my broken heart after The Song of Achilles! This review has been hidden because it contains spoilers。 To view it, click here。 I loved the premise of this, but it wasn't worth the month I waited to get the book in my hands。 This is a companion novel that can be read on its own, following the story of Millie, an average American teenager who receives a scholarship to a private Scottish school, following her heartbreak at the hands of her best friend。 There, in the lap of education for royals, she meets the controversial princess, Flora, whom she initially hates, but her feelings develop into something else。 It sounds coo I loved the premise of this, but it wasn't worth the month I waited to get the book in my hands。 This is a companion novel that can be read on its own, following the story of Millie, an average American teenager who receives a scholarship to a private Scottish school, following her heartbreak at the hands of her best friend。 There, in the lap of education for royals, she meets the controversial princess, Flora, whom she initially hates, but her feelings develop into something else。 It sounds cool, right? But the disconnect here is real。 Millie wants to be a geologist, but once she gets to the school that in no way will help her learn more about rocks, she ditches, which makes no sense for someone studious enough to get a full scholarship。 I think she could have been improved by showing some sensitivity to the fact that her family doesn't care about tabloids circulating about her dating rumors, or her spending more time preparing for her future career, but we just get her carrying around rocks like she thinks they will give her good vibes。 Flora is is someone who doesn't fit the stereotypical mold of a princess because of the controversies she gets in, and how her whole life is picked apart by tabloids。 But none of it is given more than a halfhearted explanation。 For a while she seems so bothered, especially with her perceived betrayal of Millie reading tabloids about her, but she just throws that out the window for no particular reason as well。 I'm not saying characters have to remain stagnant, but there is no motive for suddenly changing values。 I think she could have been improved by showing remorse over her twin brother being a useless drunk, and trying to find a way to be with the girl she loves and get her family to accept her, but instead we never see Queen Clara again, and Flora's ban from her brother's wedding magically disappears。 Every event that pushes Flora and Millie closer together gets weirder。 Millie breaks her character of being a rock herself and doing nothing to make a rude comment to Flora when she could have just asked her to quiet down or taken her own call outside。 Flora is justifiably upset at that, especially since Millie's attack makes assumptions about her character and financial status, and then, boom, they become friends because Flora purposefully destroys all their supplies required to survive in the wilderness even at the risk of them not being able to find someone else or their way back to the school, and fall in love because Flora is hot。 This rapid progression follows other plot lines; two pages after the controversy with someone with insider information selling stories about Flora to the tabloids, we find out who it is。 Jude breaks Millie's heart, but Millie is fine in a few pages, and they're friends again after a few Hangouts messages。 So is the "Challenge"。 Millie hypes it so much, and then it's over in ten pages because of Flora's misdemeanor。 I feel like this was a wasted opportunity。 Being isolated in the wilderness with someone you consider an enemy and needing to trust them and rely on them to beat the challenge would have been a better way to push Millie and Flora closer。 We also never understand exactly why the Challenge is a thing。 I assume a school for royals would not be okay with endangering future kings and queens, including literal children, with no real reason for it。 Explain it better than saying it's a tradition。 This book basically skipped over all the interest conflict (an insider selling Flora's information, the conflict with Flora secretly paying Millie's tuition, Millie reading tabloids about Flora behind her back) in favor of rushing to a half-baked ending。 I think I would have preferred, since the focus of conflict in their relationship is not knowing if they'll work about because of their distance and differences, a time skip to the future where we can see how they are doing。 All in all, I think the setting was wasted on this story。 。。。more

3,5 arrondi a l’inférieur。 (Je me suis moins amusée qu’avec You Should See Me In a Crown, donc pournmoi ça méritait pas la meme note)A mis du temps a démarrer, et Flora me cassait vraiment les petons au départ, mais c’est allé mieux au fil du roman。 La romance était cute。

Überhaupt kein Vergleich zu Band 1。 。。。more

NOOOOOO I wanted to love this so badly。 I read Royals even though most people acknowledge it's not good because everyone promised me I'd like this anyways。 I was so so excited for "I hate you but wait, you're a secret royal? And now I have to spend a lot of time in close proximity for them and realize they're a lot more complex than I thought?" but for the sapphics but I really, really, didn't like the narration here and I'm absolutely crushed that I didn't。 NOOOOOO I wanted to love this so badly。 I read Royals even though most people acknowledge it's not good because everyone promised me I'd like this anyways。 I was so so excited for "I hate you but wait, you're a secret royal? Finished this book in just a day! And I love how it’s just light but I felt like I was toured around Scotland。 Millie and Flora are so cute! But the ending could’ve been more exciting, it felt like it was still not unfinished。 The plot was slow-paced too。 Nonetheless, I’m still rating this 4 stars for its cuteness 🤍

I really liked this book。。。 I’m going to be honest and say that i did not read the first installment of this ‘series’ and I don’t think you need to read it to enjoy and understand this one。 I love the way the store unfolded and I really liked the characters, it’s kind of a cliche story but the LWL factor makes it endearing and honestly my one complain is that I wanted to see more of that relationship unfold。

Loved it。 I don’t know, I just wanted to read some fluffy enemies to lovers and this hit this spot。 I wasn’t expecting anything too complex or wild, I just wanted a simple cute read, and I got it! I do wish the ending was more developed though。
