It starts very well， with the reemergence of her missing presumed dead husband， just as she is settling into her new life with Sam。 It then gets a bit chick-lit and I had expected more #teamsam or #teamjesse angst and fighting or even a thriller if one turned angry。 It ends well， and predictably…。 But not her best

I could not put this down， and I even teared up a few times。 These characters were in an impossible situation and it hurt my heart。 I will say that I didn't totally buy into Emma。 I did not judge any of her choices， because how could you ever make the choices she had to make， but I did not always believe them。 I don't want to say anything that might be spoiler-ish， but I needed a bit more from her emotionally。 She sometimes felt like she was just a paint by numbers characters who needed to do X， I could not put this down， and I even teared up a few times。 These characters were in an impossible situation and it hurt my heart。 I will say that I didn't totally buy into Emma。 I did not judge any of her choices， because how could you ever make the choices she had to make， but I did not always believe them。 I don't want to say anything that might be spoiler-ish， but I needed a bit more from her emotionally。 She sometimes felt like she was just a paint by numbers characters who needed to do X， Y， and Z to get us to the conclusion and message the book was trying convey。 I didn't discover Taylor Jenkins Reid until Seven Husbands， which is still my favorite of hers， but it is nice to rewind to a time before her books were all about famous Hollywood people。 I always know her books will say something that sticks with me， and that they will keep me turning the pages， so 3。5， rounded up。 。。。more

After falling in love with Taylor Jenkins Reid， I decided to try one of her earlier novels。 This one， while very well-written， was a bit too lovey dovey for me。 I may be cynical， but I just was getting tired of the overly gooey conversations and found myself saying “alright already！ Do people even talk this way？！？！”But overall， the writing was good， it just wasn’t my cup of tea。 So three stars for me and I’ll look forward to her next one。

Such a creative storyline - classic Taylor Jenkins Read in my opinion。 I loved how she made us fall in love with both and made it hard to choose。 I so appreciate how she doesn’t make things black and white - the book is the grey， in some ways。 I think it told many stories in one and I really liked it。 I could SO see this being a movie。 The part that was so so sad to me was describing Emma in the weeks after Jesse disappeared， the grief。 Right in the heartstrings！

3 stars and nothing more。 Interesting love story。 Reminded me of the movie Castaway a little too much。 Really a cheesy love story and completely outrageous。 Not spectacular writing and didn’t hit me real hard at all。I also can’t imagine being in Emma’s shoes and having to choose。 Not sure I like how she handled things。

The problem is that I loved Evelyn Hugo and Daisy Jones and I read those first， so this one just feels a little…vanilla now。 I liked the characters and it all made sense but it was a little predictable。 I’m maybe judging TJR a tad harshly for this one， but honestly， it’s really just higher praised for the other two books！

i could not put this book down， it is a perfect showing of the wrong person at the right time， and i loved how tjr never had to assassinate the characters of each of the men to trick you into liking one。 although a seemingly unrealistic plot， the ending felt realistic， it made sense， and i thoroughly enjoyed reading this book， further cementing tjr as one of my favorite authors。
