Summary

There went the bride。。。

Amelia Willoughby has been engaged to the Duke of Wyndham for as long as she can remember。 Literally。 A mere six months old when the contracts were signed, she has spent the rest of her life waiting。 And waiting。 And waiting。。。 for Thomas Cavendish, the oh-so-lofty duke, to finally get around to marrying her。 But as she watches him from afar, she has a sneaking suspicion that he never thinks about her at all。。。

It's true。 He doesn't。 Thomas rather likes having a fiancée—all the better to keep the husband-hunters at bay—and he does intend to marry her。。。 eventually。 But just when he begins to realize that his bride might be something more than convenient, Thomas's world is rocked by the arrival of his long-lost cousin, who may or may not be the true Duke of Wyndham。 And if Thomas is not the duke, then he's not engaged to Amelia。 Which is the cruelest joke of all, because this arrogant and illustrious duke has made the mistake of falling in love。。。 with his own fiancée!

No me ha gustado que se solapen tanto las historias。 Era como leer el primer libro otra vez :/

I enjoyed this book more than the first。 I’m always one to like reading a scene from another POV, so I quite liked that aspect; even though I only finished the first book yesterday。 I found this book to be quite lovely, and just what I needed。 A nice easy read, and good relationship building - I think this may actually be why I prefer it, I’m not a huge fan of instalove, which is what the first book is, and instead prefer a bit more of a buildup。 There were the usual historical romance woes - me I enjoyed this book more than the first。 I’m always one to like reading a scene from another POV, so I quite liked that aspect; even though I only finished the first book yesterday。 I found this book to be quite lovely, and just what I needed。 A nice easy read, and good relationship building - I think this may actually be why I prefer it, I’m not a huge fan of instalove, which is what the first book is, and instead prefer a bit more of a buildup。 There were the usual historical romance woes - men who can’t control themselves and so forth, but if I understand anything from what I’ve read, it’s consistent, so perhaps is just historically accurate。 I’m glad we’ve managed to move past that as a society, at least for the most part。 And in this book at least he was honourable, which was another aspect that made me like the book better。 All in all a lovely read, and one I personally enjoyed。 。。。more

A bit different from other Julia Quinn books。 :)In Mr。 Cavendish, I Presume follows the same basic storyline from The Lost Lord of Wyndham, but told from Thomas, the former duke, and his long-time fiance's point of view。 Thomas has spent most of his life preparing for the role of the duke and then one day, mysteriously lost causing appears and he could love everything, the title, the land, and his fiance。Amelia was engaged to Thomas since she was a baby, now 21 years old she is still unmarried。 A bit different from other Julia Quinn books。 :)In Mr。 Cavendish, I Presume follows the same basic storyline from The Lost Lord of Wyndham, but told from Thomas, the former duke, and his long-time fiance's point of view。 Thomas has spent most of his life preparing for the role of the duke and then one day, mysteriously lost causing appears and he could love everything, the title, the land, and his fiance。Amelia was engaged to Thomas since she was a baby, now 21 years old she is still unmarried。 Thomas is dragging his feet in no hurry to marry or even spend that much time with her。 Maybe the threat of losing it all will be enough to give him a push。 :)I love the dual narrative of this duology, it gave the storyline extra depth, exploring it from different sides, while still giving the characters their own story。Loved it & highly recommend it! 。。。more

I'm only at chapter 15 and this is annoying。 This is the same book as The Lost Duke of Wyndom。 The author could have literally taken the first book, used 'find' and any place there was Grace thoughts, edited the internal dialog for Amelia。 This is boring and strikes me lazy writing。 I'm only at chapter 15 and this is annoying。 This is the same book as The Lost Duke of Wyndom。 The author could have literally taken the first book, used 'find' and any place there was Grace thoughts, edited the internal dialog for Amelia。 This is boring and strikes me lazy writing。 。。。more

enjoyable but I did not enjoy the repetition with the first book of the series but Julia Quinn is always worth reading!

Just the right amount of humor。

This book was a bit frustrating to me。 You are basically reading the first book in the series again, but with the perspective of Thomas。 I really liked Amelia so I wanted to hear more about her character, but it is like reading the same book over again。 The second book in the Bridgerton series is finally ready for me so getting back into that series, then I think I will take a break from historical romance- although it is a great, easy genre to read when you are sitting by the pool or ocean。 The This book was a bit frustrating to me。 You are basically reading the first book in the series again, but with the perspective of Thomas。 I really liked Amelia so I wanted to hear more about her character, but it is like reading the same book over again。 The second book in the Bridgerton series is finally ready for me so getting back into that series, then I think I will take a break from historical romance- although it is a great, easy genre to read when you are sitting by the pool or ocean。 They are all fun stories, even if some are a little predictable or frustrating。 。。。more

3。5 stars。 I almost didn't read this book because of the reviews-- BUT, I did wait a couple months in between, as many suggested。 I really enjoyed the story from Thomas and Amelia's perspective, and I really liked Amelia's character-- which is not seen in any depth in the first novel。 And Thomas's actions make a lot more sense, too。 I'm glad I read it。 Worth it for me。If you only read one of the books from this series, though, definitely read the first one。 This is more of a bonus, and I don't t 3。5 stars。 I almost didn't read this book because of the reviews-- BUT, I did wait a couple months in between, as many suggested。 I really enjoyed the story from Thomas and Amelia's perspective, and I really liked Amelia's character-- which is not seen in any depth in the first novel。 And Thomas's actions make a lot more sense, too。 I'm glad I read it。 Worth it for me。If you only read one of the books from this series, though, definitely read the first one。 This is more of a bonus, and I don't think I would have enjoyed it as much as a stand-alone story。 。。。more

I think this would have been more fun to read simultaneously as the most Duke of Wyndham because it’s the same story but from different perspectives and though I liked parts it wasn’t as fun as a fresh story。 Interesting take on a historical romance though!

I cannot give this book any more than 2 stars even though the storyline may be interesting, the heroine quote lovely and the hero just fine…but entire chapters are verbatim from the first book, and having just read the first it was absolutely exhausting trying to get through this book。 It’s not just a simple rehashing of what happened in book 1, it’s a simultaneous storyline with entire chapters copy and pasted from book 1。

I loved this book!I read quite a few negative reviews of this book before I read it and almost didn't read it。 I am so glad I trusted my gut and read it anyway。 I had respected Thomas in the first book of the series but came to love him in the second。And all those complaints about repetition? None of those readers have apparently ever read a book about the same story as told by a different person/perspective。 I have and have loved many of them。 But this is not a stand-alone book。 You need to rea I loved this book!I read quite a few negative reviews of this book before I read it and almost didn't read it。 I am so glad I trusted my gut and read it anyway。 I had respected Thomas in the first book of the series but came to love him in the second。And all those complaints about repetition? From the outset you are gripped with Quinn giving enough detail as you go along as not to drag。

Waste of time, just read the last 30 pages - they’re the only thing different then the first book。

I have listened to this for the second time and could barely put it down。 I loved Thomas the earl of Windham and his fiancee Amelia。 It is unimaginable what he goes through。 And admirable that she sticks with him through it。。 I really love Books by Julia Quinn。

The characters were real, not static。 They changed and developed as the story moved on。

So this one is a retelling of the first from different perspectives。 Not a bad story, but you already knows what happens if you read the other first。

Ahh, this book is very hard to rate。 First and foremost, Julia Quinn’s writing is (as usual) great。 However, the majority of this book was just repeating scenes from the first in the series。 Was it still well written? Yes。 Was it kind of boring because of that? Yes! We didn’t need to see so many repeated scenes in the second book。 There were a few that seemed necessary to include such as Amelia’s dad insisting Jack marry Amelia, but most repeats didn’t actually add much。 My suggestion to any Jul Ahh, this book is very hard to rate。 First and foremost, Julia Quinn’s writing is (as usual) great。 However, the majority of this book was just repeating scenes from the first in the series。 Was it still well written? I was more interested in these characters than the first ones, but I hate reading the same story from a different point of view。 I got bored with this really fast。 It was a decent story, just not for me。

Quirky second book in the Dukes of Wyndam。 Same story different viewpoints。 Equally satisfying。

Very annoying - this was basically the same text as Book 1 of the series with a some minor additions as it was from the "other" duke's perspective。 Seems lazy and dishonest to be selling each book separately, when together they may have made one decent book。 Very annoying - this was basically the same text as Book 1 of the series with a some minor additions as it was from the "other" duke's perspective。 Seems lazy and dishonest to be selling each book separately, when together they may have made one decent book。 。。。more

The story of Thomas and Amelia was very sweet。 Along with book 1, this set of novels are among my favorites by Julia Quinn。
