Summary

Communication expert shows that although you can't fix crazy people you don't have to be controlled by them。 Strange as it may seem, other people are not nearly as committed to our happiness as we are。 In fact, sometimes they seem like they're on a mission to make us miserable! There's always that one person。 The one who hijacks your emotions and makes you crazy。 The one who seems to thrive on drama。 If you could just "fix" that person, everything would be better。 But we can't fix other people--we can only make choices about ourselves。 In this cut-to-the-chase book, communication expert Mike Bechtle shows readers that they don't have to be victims of other people's craziness。 With commonsense wisdom and practical advice that can be implemented immediately, Bechtle gives readers a proven strategy to handle crazy people。 More than just offering a set of techniques, Bechtle offers a new perspective that will change readers' lives as they deal with those difficult people who just won't go away。

This book made me feel I was at church。 Faith in god is a big part of the author’s solution to annoying situations so if you’re like me and looking for something more science based then this book may not be the right option for you。

Ann

Some helpful reminders, especially about boundaries。

Lindsey Watson

I really enjoyed this book - especially for people like me who absolutely feel affected by those closest to me。

This book is a self-help book that gives some practical insights on how to deal with difficult people in your life。 The advice given is mostly in line with modern-day psychology。 One star substracted because he repeats himself over and over, this book could have been much shorter。 Another one subtracted because the writer hits the reader on the head with religion and the Bible whenever he gets the chance。 It feels forced and distracts from otherwise good advice。You're either a communication expe This book is a self-help book that gives some practical insights on how to deal with difficult people in your life。 The advice given is mostly in line with modern-day psychology。 One star substracted because he repeats himself over and over, this book could have been much shorter。 Another one subtracted because the writer hits the reader on the head with religion and the Bible whenever he gets the chance。 It feels forced and distracts from otherwise good advice。You're either a communication expert and write about communication or you're a pastor writing about religion。 Don't try to be both。 。。。more

This book came to me when I need it the most, it's a little bit too Godly for me in some sense but it's not too much that it's overwhelming it doesn't make the information less valuable but more so。This book enforces the fact that you can't change other people but you can change your perspective you can work on yourself and gage your reaction to people who are drama filled and a bit hard to deal with。it also highlights that nothing is garanteed and we just have to do what's best for us for examp This book came to me when I need it the most, it's a little bit too Godly for me in some sense but it's not too much that it's overwhelming it doesn't make the information less valuable but more so。This book enforces the fact that you can't change other people but you can change your perspective you can work on yourself and gage your reaction to people who are drama filled and a bit hard to deal with。it also highlights that nothing is garanteed and we just have to do what's best for us for example just because I work out constantly and eat right doesn't mean that I won't die from a car accident tomorrow (knock on wood) but we do these things in hope that we will feel better and live to see tomorrow no?。Some of us are too focus on changing the other person which sets us up for disappointment because it just never works, instead we need to learn to funtion in an environment with these people while remaining in power positively。There is alot more valuable information in this book and ill definitely be reading it again to cement the information。 。。。more

Written from a christian perspective,You will find a few gems of wisdom in this book。But if you are in a close relationship with an abuser and the relationship is causing you lots of pain then this is not the right book to read。I recommend reading Escape the narcissist,50 things not to do with Narcissist by H G Tudor and The Psychopath Code: Cracking the Predators that Stalk Us 。These are VERY good。These books will help you deal with a toxic person and also get rid of him/her if that's what you Written from a christian perspective,You will find a few gems of wisdom in this book。But if you are in a close relationship with an abuser and the relationship is causing you lots of pain then this is not the right book to read。I recommend reading Escape the narcissist,50 things not to do with Narcissist by H G Tudor and The Psychopath Code: Cracking the Predators that Stalk Us 。These are VERY good。These books will help you deal with a toxic person and also get rid of him/her if that's what you want。Hope this helps!P。S。While making a decision to read a book, never rely on average ratings of that book on good reads。 。。。more

This book was better than I thought it would be。 Good info。 Mixes Biblical wisdom with common sense。

I guess it's a well meaning self-help guide but some rather unfortunate examples (Cortez, anyone?) have made the reading experience a bit bizarre。 There's better stuff out there。 I guess it's a well meaning self-help guide but some rather unfortunate examples (Cortez, anyone?) have made the reading experience a bit bizarre。 There's better stuff out there。 。。。more

Great book hits on codependency。 The main purpose, however was that people can only change self。

So this is really good advice in this book。 It would have been four stars but I just think we need to stop using the term crazy to refer to people。

At first I did not know what to expect of this book。 But after the first few chapters I felt more balanced and confident。 Also helped me view emotional situations in a much more handling perspective。 Thank you!

I found this book quite monotonous。 Longest read of my life!

I was not expecting the religious tie-ins。。。。

This book helped me SO much when I was going through a rough path in my life。 Dr。 Mike Bechtle writes in a such beautiful way that sometimes I was under the impression he was writing personally to me。 I could not be more grateful to have found this book at a bad time in my life because this book taught me how to be humble even at difficult moments with people who made me feel miserable。

I am trying to improve my people skills 。 This book is an eye opener。 I now have new tools to work with。 I know that I cannot apply all of them to work 。 They will be amazing for my personal life。 There are a lot crazies theses days with 2020 being the year of everything weird happening this is going to help me cope。 I think this book is going to be helpful in so many ways。 I did enjoy him placing the Bible verses with some of the lessons he uses。 Just fantastic。

Awesome ReadJust the book I have been looking for in my life。 It came into my life exactly when I needed it the most! Thought I was nuts & didn’t realize how to change my way of thinking。 Sought a therapist and am working on getting my emotions in check & not having others manipulate me。 Pick this book up, I believe anyone can benefit from reading this wonderful book。

I picked up this book at a time where I was struggling with a specific friendship。 A lot resonated with me, and a lot I feel I tend to follow anyway。 It was nice to have some confirmation that I was doing the right thing。 Easy to read, sometimes repetitive and it had a bit more God and bible talk than I would have liked。 No reviews mentioned that the author is an evangelist

Jill Broom

Absolutely recommend this book! I enjoy self improvement books and this has been one of my favorites。 I enjoy how well he combines real life with his Christian walk。

Mostly common sense。 The book seemed to focus more on how you can't change people who may have a negative impact on you (acceptance) rather than any potential ways to negate or prevent the affect such people have, especially those with which you can't simply end your relationship with (ex: coworkers, family, etc。)。 Mostly common sense。 The book seemed to focus more on how you can't change people who may have a negative impact on you (acceptance) rather than any potential ways to negate or prevent the affect such people have, especially those with which you can't simply end your relationship with (ex: coworkers, family, etc。)。 。。。more

Preparing for family Thanksgiving I decided mental fortitude found within the pages of this book。 Unfortunately, I really (and everyone, I suppose) needs more time to learn and live the principles。 Will re-read - great for work, family, dating, etc。 A must read!!!

A great book that works on relationships that are not what you want them to be and help you to react properly!

I really liked this book, it gave me a lot of helpful tips on how to handle people with strong personalities in my life。 I also love the fact that he was able to bring god in the book without it being too preachy。 I would definitely recommend to people who have issues dealing with the crazy people in their life。

This self-help book was inspiring and truly helpful。 For those of us blessed with “crazy people” in our lives, it gives comfort and hope along with helpful advice on how not to give up our power and to manage in our personal and work relationships。 It’s a book I plan to reread and keep handy when dealing with difficult people。Well written and sprinkled with humor and good advice。
