Summary

I watched his body change。 He crouched on the roof, one hand gripping the edge。 All that strange friendliness disappeared, and he was a hunter。 That was something I recognised, something I was comfortable with because I understood it。

I turned off my brain。 It was time to hunt。 I took a deep breath, drawing in the scent of the blood inside the humans below。 They weren't the only humans around, but they were the closest。 Who you were going to hunt was the kind of decision you had to make before you scented your prey。

It was too late now to choose anything。

Fans of the Twilight Saga will be enthralled by this riveting story of Bree Tanner, a character first introduced in Eclipse, and the darker side of the newborn vampire world she inhabits。

Bree Tanner can barely remember life before she had uncannily powerful senses, superhuman reflexes and unstoppable physical strength。 Life before she had a relentless thirst for blood。。。 life before she became a vampire。

All Bree knows is that living with her fellow newborns has few certainties and even fewer rules: watch your back, don’t draw attention to yourself and, above all, make it home by sunrise or die。 What she doesn’t know: her time as an immortal is quickly running out。

Then Bree finds an unexpected friend in Diego, a newborn just as curious as Bree about their mysterious creator, whom they know only as her。 As they come to realize that the newborns are pawns in a game larger than anything they could have imagined, Bree and Diego must choose sides and decide whom to trust。 But when everything you know about vampires is based on a lie, how do you find the truth?

In another irresistible combination of danger, mystery, and romance, Stephenie Meyer tells the devastating story of the newborn army as they prepare to close in on Bella Swan and the Cullens, following their encounter to its unforgettable conclusion。

it was interesting。 i got really bored at some parts but the ending picked up and i was intrigued。 Stephanie also added a plot point in this that wasn’t in eclipse and then its just never talked about again (according to my friend who has read breaking dawn, will confirm) i like bree a lot more than bella。 and diego was cute。 i also liked fred and wish bree had escaped with him。 honestly like this more than where bella’s shit show is going。

thought it was a really good idea。 No chapters so I found it a bit hard to follow。 especially at the end not saying characters, (obviously, Bree didn't know the names of the Cullens), they all look the same so I found the descriptions hard to read。Otherwise all good。。。7/10 thought it was a really good idea。 No chapters so I found it a bit hard to follow。 especially at the end not saying characters, (obviously, Bree didn't know the names of the Cullens), they all look the same so I found the descriptions hard to read。Otherwise all good。。。7/10 。。。more

This was very interesting。 The details and the backstory of her was cool。 It put so much behind the part of the other book she was in。 Loved it。

this novella was so fascinating! seeing into bree’s life explains a lot of the questions i have about riley and how he came to be, and seeing the back story of this young girl helped the actually books become more interesting and explained。

Okay, so I mostly reread this book because I'm working on a fanfiction with Bree as the main character and I wanted to refresh myself on her story so I could get my facts (and her voice) right。 I wasn't expecting much from this book, but I actually really enjoyed it。 It has its problems, which I'll talk about later, but there were a lot of elements of this book that were quite strong。 I liked that, unlike the main books of the Twilight series, this one was able to really lean into the horror of Okay, so I mostly reread this book because I'm working on a fanfiction with Bree as the main character and I wanted to refresh myself on her story so I could get my facts (and her voice) right。 I wasn't expecting much from this book, but I actually really enjoyed it。 It has its problems, which I'll talk about later, but there were a lot of elements of this book that were quite strong。 I liked that, unlike the main books of the Twilight series, this one was able to really lean into the horror of being a vampire。 The world Bree and the rest of her newborn coven inhabit is violent and scary, a world of chaos that's a far cry from the sometimes boring civility of the Cullen clan。 I enjoyed seeing vampires that behaved more like vampires, feasting on humans and wreaking havoc in the night。This book also made good use of dramatic irony。 It reminded me of Hadestown in a way。 We know going into this book how the story of Bree Tanner is going to end。 Even if the reader has never read Eclipse or seen the movie, Bree's death is all but stated outright by both the title and the hourglass on the cover of the book。 In spite of knowing how Bree's story ends, though, I really wanted her to survive the book, and I was sad when she didn't。 Seeing her make decisions that led to her own doom was agonizing in the best way possible。But, like I said, this book had its problems。 The insta-love between Bree and Diego really bothered me, especially because the fact that they were in love didn't add to the story in any meaningful way。 I also found myself wishing this book worked better as a standalone piece, rather than relying so heavily on knowledge only Eclipse could have given us。 The strongest parts of the book for me were the moments that focused on Bree, her coven, and the Volturi。。。 events and knowledge we didn't have access to in the Twilight series at large。 When the Cullens came in at the end, I actually found myself kind of bored。 (Because let's face it, the Cullens just aren't as exciting as these other vampires are。) I probably would have been bored during the entire climax of the book if it wasn't for Jane (who, incidentally, has always been one of my favorite characters in the series)。Overall, though, this was a surprisingly enjoyable read。 。。。more

If you are a fan of the Twilight series and like quick reads, this would definitely be a good book for you to read。 This one-hundred seventy-eight paged book takes place during the same time that Eclipse does。 Bree is one of the newborn vampires that were blindly fighting against the Cullen's。 Throughout the novella, Bree describes her life while living in lies, secrets, fear, mayhem, and more。 While kept in the dark, Bree slowly starts undercovering the real purpose to why she was created。 Even If you are a fan of the Twilight series and like quick reads, this would definitely be a good book for you to read。 This one-hundred seventy-eight paged book takes place during the same time that Eclipse does。 Bree is one of the newborn vampires that were blindly fighting against the Cullen's。 Throughout the novella, Bree describes her life while living in lies, secrets, fear, mayhem, and more。 While kept in the dark, Bree slowly starts undercovering the real purpose to why she was created。 Even though we all know Bree's fate, it is still very interesting to hear her point of view and it even gives readers more knowledge of what was really going on behind the scenes of the attacks in Seattle, the newborns day to day life, and how much of a failure their plans were because of their behavior。 I was really excited to finally get my hands on this book, since I've been wanting to read it for a couple of years now, especially after reading the original four books。 I have even read Midnight Sun before this one! A well deserved 4/5 stars :) 。。。more

I am genuinely disheartened by finding this book under "Worst Books Of All Time", labeling which I can only adjudicate to Stephanie Meyer and the Twilight universe being involved。 As a teenager reading this (and one who thought themselves "superior" to "girly shallow literature" such as Twilight) I really enjoyed the book for reasons I cannot quite describe nowadays, but by the end of the book I had acquired a mild respect for Meyer as an author and creator of a fantasy setting with a pretty dec I am genuinely disheartened by finding this book under "Worst Books Of All Time", labeling which I can only adjudicate to Stephanie Meyer and the Twilight universe being involved。 As a teenager reading this (and one who thought themselves "superior" to "girly shallow literature" such as Twilight) I really enjoyed the book for reasons I cannot quite describe nowadays, but by the end of the book I had acquired a mild respect for Meyer as an author and creator of a fantasy setting with a pretty decent world building, and at the very least one very compelling, and in a strange way relatable, character。 。。。more

I enjoyed this。 The idea of seeing a part of the Eclipse story from another point of view was intriguing。Bree is a likeable character and the story is well told and interesting in its own right。 Obviously we know what happens to Bree, but we didn’t previously know what brought her there or what she was thinking。 I found this a delightful addition to the series (it made me realise how much I enjoy this world and the characters in it) and I’d certainly read more additions or offshoots to the Twili I enjoyed this。 The idea of seeing a part of the Eclipse story from another point of view was intriguing。Bree is a likeable character and the story is well told and interesting in its own right。 Obviously we know what happens to Bree, but we didn’t previously know what brought her there or what she was thinking。 I found this a delightful addition to the series (it made me realise how much I enjoy this world and the characters in it) and I’d certainly read more additions or offshoots to the Twilight series。 。。。more

I very much enjoyed this short story! I liked how the vampires were portrayed and how they were clueless about a lot of things because Riley wasn't telling them anything。 It was nice to read from someone else's perspective instead of Bella, because she can be quite boring sometimes, not gonna lie。 It was also cool to read this different storyline within the twilight story and how it all comes together in the end。 :) I very much enjoyed this short story!
