I wish I could give the book more than five stars because the book was really good。 I had a hard time putting the book down I loved how Holly Black showed you how Cardan turned out the way he did I felt bad for him for the way that his family treated him。 I also loved how Holy Black showed how Cardan started falling for Jude I thought it was sweet that Cardan wanted to try to be the hero for a change instead of his wife。

If I had not been so starched go the folk of the air series, I would not have seen the beauty of this book。 I loved the backstory of my new favorite character (Cardan)。 Learning about his growth and where all his hate and wickedness came from。 I also really enjoyed how it gave more information about the events that take place after “The Queen of Nothing” and about his ongoing love for Jude。 I don’t particularly enjoy third person narratives but Holly Black wrote it well and the illustrations wer If I had not been so starched go the folk of the air series, I would not have seen the beauty of this book。 I loved the backstory of my new favorite character (Cardan)。 Learning about his growth and where all his hate and wickedness came from。 I also really enjoyed how it gave more information about the events that take place after “The Queen of Nothing” and about his ongoing love for Jude。 I don’t particularly enjoy third person narratives but Holly Black wrote it well and the illustrations were beautiful。 If you’ve read the divergent series, the book “four” for that series is similar to how this book is for the folk of the air series。 Thank you Holly black for putting Cardan in the spotlight。 。。。more

This was a very different read, but I enjoyed it! The illustrations are beautiful and I love how, even though it didn’t seem like they would, all of the stories connected。 I definitely recommend it!

This review has been hidden because it contains spoilers。 To view it, click here。 The story is rather short but the book is lovely with pretty illustrations in between。 It reminds you of how Jude became the queen and tells you the side story from the view point of Cardan。 The ending with the story entwined with Aslog the troll women from his childhood satisfying as an ending of the story。 Of course, I would much prefer the main trilogy over this book but it is as nice as it gets a side story which you read after the trilogy。

”A heart of stone can still be broken。”Can we please talk about the beautiful illustrations in this? I’m absolutely in love with the art style。 Authors should honestly do more books like this。 Cardan’s pov was something I never knew I wanted until now。 How the story is just set up from beginning to end is just amazing to me。 It’s like they’re all their separate stories, except they all connect in the end, and that’s such a rare yet wonderful concept。 I loved how it also talks about how there isn ”A heart of stone can still be broken。”Can we please talk about the beautiful illustrations in this? Toca despedir a Jude y Cardan, unos personajes que me han enamorado y atrapado por completo。 Este libro es el cierre perfecto🌟

This made of an easy listen the other day as I ran errands。 The audio book was already short but I had to seed up the narrator to double time because she was incredibly slow。 This is a fun expansion of the books if you're looking for a Elfhame fix but other than that it truly serves no point。 I cant even say that it answered the title of the book。。。 This made of an easy listen the other day as I ran errands。 The audio book was already short but I had to seed up the narrator to double time because she was incredibly slow。 This is a fun expansion of the books if you're looking for a Elfhame fix but other than that it truly serves no point。 I cant even say that it answered the title of the book。。。 。。。more

I'm not sure how to date a novella, but to me, solid five stars。This book is BEAUTIFUL。 The illustrations alone make up for anything lacking。 But I don't feel it lacked。 It was a fun edition to TFOTA, with Cardan as the main POV, and an actual storyline that was pretty intriguing。 You can't beat that。 I'm not sure how to date a novella, but to me, solid five stars。This book is BEAUTIFUL。 The illustrations alone make up for anything lacking。 But I don't feel it lacked。 It was a fun edition to TFOTA, with Cardan as the main POV, and an actual storyline that was pretty intriguing。 You can't beat that。 。。。more

This was a cute read and I was so glad for it because I was not ready to leave these characters。 I adore Cardan and I just wanted so much more of him and Jude。 I loved the art and the whole style of the book。 Also, I just finished reading Cardan's letters to Jude (I stumbled upon them on Tumblr, they were supposedly in a B&N edition of QON?) and OH MY GOD。 I am not ok after that。 This was a cute read and I was so glad for it because I was not ready to leave these characters。 I adore Cardan and I just wanted so much more of him and Jude。 I loved the art and the whole style of the book。 Also, I just finished reading Cardan's letters to Jude (I stumbled upon them on Tumblr, they were supposedly in a B&N edition of QON?) and OH MY GOD。 I am not ok after that。 。。。more

I mean。。。 it's just a beautiful book。 Nothing much happens but it's a fun read and a lovely little insight into Cardan that we don't get from the trilogy。 Definitely one to own if you're a fan of the Cruel Prince books。 Also。。。 Cardan drinking bubble tea。 I mean。。。 it's just a beautiful book。 Nothing much happens but it's a fun read and a lovely little insight into Cardan that we don't get from the trilogy。 Definitely one to own if you're a fan of the Cruel Prince books。 Also。。。 Cardan drinking bubble tea。 。。。more

cute bunch of stories featuring cardan, though i'm not quite sure if it was worth all that money。 don't get me wrong, i love cardan, but it wasn't quite enough to quench my thirst for more cardan and jude? still love high king cardan in the mortal world trying dumplings and i would give a lot of money for a book of just him and jude doing completely mundane things。 and while these stories got into cardan's backstory and why he is the way he is, it just wasn't enough for me :( cute bunch of stories featuring cardan, though i'm not quite sure if it was worth all that money。 don't get me wrong, i love cardan, but it wasn't quite enough to quench my thirst for more cardan and jude? still love high king cardan in the mortal world trying dumplings and i would give a lot of money for a book of just him and jude doing completely mundane things。 and while these stories got into cardan's backstory and why he is the way he is, it just wasn't enough for me :( 。。。more

I really enjoyed being able to read this installment to the Folk of the Air series! I love seeing things from Cardan’s perspective。 He is such a hard character to either love or hate, so seeing a backstory really helps with why he is the person or fae that he is。 I love the stories and the conflicts that have happened to him。 He is such an important person in the trilogy, but actually hearing his voice and seeing his perspective is powerful!
