So, this was just meant as a fun diversion I picked up from the library on a whim, and it totally did that。 It fits into my dark and twisted sense of humor, I can relate to how Inman views the human-cat, human-baby and human-dog relationship (I didn't expect that much dog content from this title but it's in here。) When this was funny it was hilarious。 But it also has a fair amount of poop and fart jokes, it does get repetitive and some jokes fall flat as I would say is to be expected with this t So, this was just meant as a fun diversion I picked up from the library on a whim, and it totally did that。 It fits into my dark and twisted sense of humor, I can relate to how Inman views the human-cat, human-baby and human-dog relationship (I didn't expect that much dog content from this title but it's in here。) When this was funny it was hilarious。 But it also has a fair amount of poop and fart jokes, it does get repetitive and some jokes fall flat as I would say is to be expected with this type of literature。 I'm not sure this ever had a chance to rank higher than 3* for me because of its nature but I also would pick up another fun Inman comic in heart beat if I feel like I need a good laugh。3。5* 。。。more

Far superior to How to Tell If Your Cat Is Plotting to Kill You in my opinion

The Captain

Ahoy there me mateys! As some of the crew may know, I love me kittens and I think they make the best ship friends。 I also don’t have kids and never plan to。 They get in the way of pillaging。 So this title intrigued me。 I have seen some of the author’s comics before and so borrowed a copy from a local library。Sadly, the title was one of the better things about this collection。 This was a disjointed mix of one-track jokes。 Babies poop and puke。 Cats are jerks who begrudgingly deal with humans。 Bot Ahoy there me mateys! A couple of the individual strips are entertaining, but this didn't need to be a book。 You can tell Inman didn't have enough content because it's filled in with bits of unrelated material。 A couple of the individual strips are entertaining, but this didn't need to be a book。 You can tell Inman didn't have enough content because it's filled in with bits of unrelated material。 。。。more

Since I'm more obsessed about cats than dogs, some sections of the book did not interest me。 80% part about cats are funny & I don't even own a cat or have cats before。 I just know I want cats in the future & not babies。 Since I went into the books expecting strictly cats vs babies, I was a bit dissappointing。 Overall, still fun to read。 Since I'm more obsessed about cats than dogs, some sections of the book did not interest me。 80% part about cats are funny & I don't even own a cat or have cats before。 I just know I want cats in the future & not babies。 Since I went into the books expecting strictly cats vs babies, I was a bit dissappointing。 Overall, still fun to read。 。。。more

I'm a big fun of the Oatmeal's work and find most of his comics very amusing。 I have to admit though that the ones included in this particular book are not among my favourites。 The book somehow felt shorter than his earlier works and less funny - at least according to my personal standards; of course I totally realise that humour is completely subjective, so this is just my humble opinion。 In short, this comic book was pleasant to read, but having read previous works of the Oatmeal I know he can I'm a big fun of the Oatmeal's work and find most of his comics very amusing。 I have to admit though that the ones included in this particular book are not among my favourites。 The book somehow felt shorter than his earlier works and less funny - at least according to my personal standards; of course I totally realise that humour is completely subjective, so this is just my humble opinion。 In short, this comic book was pleasant to read, but having read previous works of the Oatmeal I know he can do better。 If you liked this one, or at least liked the type of jokes (even if you weren't excited with the actual jokes) I would recommend reading 5 Very Good Reasons to Punch a Dolphin in the Mouth and Other Useful Guides or/and The Terrible and Wonderful Reasons Why I Run Long Distances next。 。。。more

I love cats, so of course I'm going to read this book。 This is such a silly fun filled book about babies, cats, dogs, and relationships。 I enjoyed the colorful illustrations。 Once I get a cat I'm going to make my kitty a cat convict。 What a great way to bring awareness about indoor cats。 I have lost a few cats in my life。 Now, if I see an orange collar I will be more aware of the possibility of a lost kitty。 I love cats, so of course I'm going to read this book。 This is such a silly fun filled book about babies, cats, dogs, and relationships。 I enjoyed the colorful illustrations。 Once I get a cat I'm going to make my kitty a cat convict。 What a great way to bring awareness about indoor cats。 I have lost a few cats in my life。 Now, if I see an orange collar I will be more aware of the possibility of a lost kitty。 。。。more

Sadly, I don’t seem to be a fan of this type of humour。 I really wanted to like this book。。。 but didn’t。

I picked this one up for the title, little did I know that a comic book would have so few。。。how you say?。。。jokes?A third of the punchlines were just people in various forms of distress (har har I guess?)。 And the critique of babies was very one-note。 I mean, babies are an easy target if you ask me。 Lots to make fun of。 The absence of soft skull jokes was a total missed opportunity in my book。

Fast and super funny read。 It is what is promises。 I loved the humor and the ending wish wishes for more found pets when they have been lost。

Funny things about cats。 Quite funny。 As I'm not really a cat person, not really for me。 Still give me some laughs on how the cat would be so selfish and picky eater and other tales I heard from friends who have cats。 Much more a dog person even when I don't have dog。 Much easier to understand。 And of course, I like the attention and the affection。 Funny things about cats。 Quite funny。 As I'm not really a cat person, not really for me。 Still give me some laughs on how the cat would be so selfish and picky eater and other tales I heard from friends who have cats。 Much more a dog person even when I don't have dog。 Much easier to understand。 And of course, I like the attention and the affection。 。。。more

Overall Opinion: This book is absolutely hilarious。 I related to being a cat parent in this book。 The artwork just adds to the hilarity of the book。

Laugh out loud funny!

The beginning was great。 The second half got worse but it was an okay read。 Something short and simple to add to my reading challenge and I always enjoy a book with cats。

A few very funny bits but also it's crude (which the Oatmeal sometimes is, I know!) and the parts not on cats, well, they feel a little lumped in to make length。 A few very funny bits but also it's crude (which the Oatmeal sometimes is, I know!) and the parts not on cats, well, they feel a little lumped in to make length。 。。。more

The Oatmeal (Matthew Inman) does it again。 I don't know about the babies, but his observations about cats and dogs are always spot-on, hilarious, and over-the-top。 Sometimes I just need to read something absolutely ridiculous, and when I do, I reach for the Oatmeal。 The Oatmeal (Matthew Inman) does it again。 I don't know about the babies, but his observations about cats and dogs are always spot-on, hilarious, and over-the-top。 Sometimes I just need to read something absolutely ridiculous, and when I do, I reach for the Oatmeal。 。。。more

Hillarious!

Teagan

Hilarious。 I particularly liked the intro about why cats are better than babies and the part about murderous cats being sociopaths。

Lia Apperley

I thought this was very funny and relatable (as a cat mum), and like all collections of comics, I liked some more than others。 Overall a fun and entertaining read。

He's not wrong。 Pretty much any cat is more impressive than any baby。 But there comes a time when the baby stops looking at your finger, and starts looking the thing you are pointing to。 My cat may be better murderers (we'll never know because they are indoor only) but they never stop looking at the finger。 And while cats are similar to infants in the communicating their needs without language, the baby does eventually learn to tell you where it hurts, or what they would like to eat。 And in time He's not wrong。 Pretty much any cat is more impressive than any baby。 But there comes a time when the baby stops looking at your finger, and starts looking the thing you are pointing to。 My cat may be better murderers (we'll never know because they are indoor only) but they never stop looking at the finger。 And while cats are similar to infants in the communicating their needs without language, the baby does eventually learn to tell you where it hurts, or what they would like to eat。 And in time the baby learns how to feed itself and eventually you, too。 I love my cats, but not a one of them has ever cooked breakfast for me。[Spouse's] personal copy 。。。more

Wow, it's not often that a book can so radically change my mind on babies。 I was。。。impartial on babies before reading this book。 They're kinda cute, but I know they can be a nasty pain, so in general。。。things cancel out。 But THIS book。 The babies really WERE little annoying monster brats that just suck out every little joy and life from you。 It makes me never want to have kids。Cute babies?
