Very cute book! I really liked the story and it shows how important packages and the Post Office can be。 The illustrations are nice and show the story well。

I enjoyed the package-eye-view of what happens in a post office。 Thankfully everything turns out well in the end。 The illustrations were my favorite thing about this book。

Beautiful, touching story of community and support。 Don't skip the Author's Note。 It will make you love this book even more。 This was a June selection for my Mock Caldecott group。 It is a worthy contender。 Beautiful, touching story of community and support。 Don't skip the Author's Note。 It will make you love this book even more。 This was a June selection for my Mock Caldecott group。 It is a worthy contender。 。。。more

Lovely watercolor illustrations take us on a journey with a box that falls off the delivery truck。

The mail is actually very fascinating to children, and this book is a lovely and thoughtful look at both mail and kindness。

Read for Librarian Book GroupThe kind of picture book I adore。 Spare words, and tons of details to go back and find。 The author's note tells of his personal appreciation of USPS。 Read for Librarian Book GroupThe kind of picture book I adore。 Spare words, and tons of details to go back and find。 The author's note tells of his personal appreciation of USPS。 。。。more

A look at what happened to a lost package when a kind child and his mother decide to make sure the recipient gets it。 A child mails a special package and it accidentally bounces out of a postal truck。 A little boy finds it and takes it with them when they move。 He and his mom deliver it to the person who was supposed to get it。 Wrapped around this story is a look at how packages are processed at the post office and a chance to see the USPS motto connected to the delivery of this package。The wate A look at what happened to a lost package when a kind child and his mother decide to make sure the recipient gets it。 A child mails a special package and it accidentally bounces out of a postal truck。 A little boy finds it and takes it with them when they move。 He and his mom deliver it to the person who was supposed to get it。 Wrapped around this story is a look at how packages are processed at the post office and a chance to see the USPS motto connected to the delivery of this package。The watercolor illustrations are lovely and bring this story to life。 。。。more

Delightful artwork attempts to paint over the story's mixed messages。 I loved the back matter that explained the hard work of the author's father as a USPS worker for many years。 But this message butts heads with the book's storyline about a package that the USPS loses and that's found, not by the USPS, but by kind citizens who spy the lost package。 Delightful artwork attempts to paint over the story's mixed messages。 I loved the back matter that explained the hard work of the author's father as a USPS worker for many years。 But this message butts heads with the book's storyline about a package that the USPS loses and that's found, not by the USPS, but by kind citizens who spy the lost package。 。。。more

A package is sent from New York to California, but it gets lost along the way。 A family finds it, and realizes their destinations are the same, so they take the package along with them: through snow, rain, and heat until they reach San Fransisco。 A beautiful tribute to the USPS。 It introduces how mail is organized, sorted, and delivered across the United States。 A good choice for reading aloud to a classroom (grades K-2)。

This review has been hidden because it contains spoilers。 To view it, click here。 This was a sweet story of a package that fell off the back of a mail truck。 The little boy who found it discovered it was addressed to a place in the same city to which he and Mom were moving, so they took it upon themselves to deliver the package to the little boy recipient。 I really appreciated that the illustrator used watercolors to create her paintings, and did not use any digital enhancements in her paintings。

3。5 starsAn interesting look at how a package makes its way across the country。 While it's originally sent through the USPS, what happens when it gets lost??I enjoyed the homage to the post office, although it actually seems more like the adventure of a package。 This one would take some finagling on the part of the reader to make it work for story time, but it could be done。 3。5 starsAn interesting look at how a package makes its way across the country。 While it's originally sent through the USPS, what happens when it gets lost??I enjoyed the homage to the post office, although it actually seems more like the adventure of a package。 This one would take some finagling on the part of the reader to make it work for story time, but it could be done。 。。。more

This book was okay。 I expected a little better。 It was short, simple, and sweet。

So much of the telling in this story is shown through the illustrations, not the text。 The illustrations are absolutely lovely。 My only criticism is that in this day and age, when the postal system is under such scrutiny, why the package wasn't returned to the USPS to wend its way to its final destination。 Sure, it was a great story of the package's path, but a little negative to the postal system, even though I know that was not the author's intent after reading about his family background。 I'm So much of the telling in this story is shown through the illustrations, not the text。 The illustrations are absolutely lovely。 My only criticism is that in this day and age, when the postal system is under such scrutiny, why the package wasn't returned to the USPS to wend its way to its final destination。 Sure, it was a great story of the package's path, but a little negative to the postal system, even though I know that was not the author's intent after reading about his family background。 I'm really fretting about the USPS's slow demise。。。。。 。。。more

Sweet, and I love the idea, but like other reviewers, I am anxious that the message about how amazing the post office is got lost in the kid and his mom taking on the delivery themselves。

The author's parents arrived in the United States over forty years ago。 They didn't have much money but her father was able to get a job at the U。S。 Post Office。 It changed their lives as far as stability。 Her father was quite proud of his work ethic。 This story is a delightful view of the responsibility of finding the owner of a lost package。 In the author's note at the back of the book, we learn the the USPS is in crisis。 Despite being a government agency, it doesn't receive any taxpayer money The author's parents arrived in the United States over forty years ago。 They didn't have much money but her father was able to get a job at the U。S。 Post Office。 It changed their lives as far as stability。 Her father was quite proud of his work ethic。 This story is a delightful view of the responsibility of finding the owner of a lost package。 In the author's note at the back of the book, we learn the the USPS is in crisis。 Despite being a government agency, it doesn't receive any taxpayer money。 The illustrations are done in watercolor and pull the reader right into the story。 。。。more

Cute picture book for children about the journey a package goes on when it enters the mail system。 Occasionally things happen and packages do not arrive and this is their story。 :) Well, some of them。 I don't think all get such a happy ending to their being lost on the street。 Either way, I think children will enjoy this book。 Cute picture book for children about the journey a package goes on when it enters the mail system。 Occasionally things happen and packages do not arrive and this is their story。 :) Well, some of them。 I don't think all get such a happy ending to their being lost on the street。 Either way, I think children will enjoy this book。 。。。more

Be sure to reas the author's note at the back of the book。 It really adds a powerful meaning to this book。 Would be a nice modern addition to the community workers unit。 Be sure to reas the author's note at the back of the book。 It really adds a powerful meaning to this book。 Would be a nice modern addition to the community workers unit。 。。。more

I LOOOOVED this picture book! I loved the beautiful illustration style that brings new life to the Gail Gibbons, system oriented aspect of the book。 And the accompanying story was very sweet and hopeful! :)

A young girl mails a package but it is lost in delivery and found by a young boy。 A lovely picture book with minimum text and detailed illustrations that tells a compelling story of friendship, connection, and kindness。 Don't miss the nice salute to the U。S。 Postal Service by the author at the end of the book。 This will be a useful addition to any units on the post office, pen pals, and letter writing。 A young girl mails a package but it is lost in delivery and found by a young boy。 A lovely picture book with minimum text and detailed illustrations that tells a compelling story of friendship, connection, and kindness。 Don't miss the nice salute to the U。S。 Postal Service by the author at the end of the book。 This will be a useful addition to any units on the post office, pen pals, and letter writing。 。。。more

I am blessed to work in the Outeach Dept of a library system。 I mail books and other library materials to local homebound library patrons。 During this Covid19 epidemic, my patrons and I sure could relate to this very timely and wonderfully illustrated picture book。 I want to have a book discussion with my patrons using this book。 I think they will enjoy it!

I can see pairing this with other books about the post office。 It's actually a Colorado illustrator and I can see pairing it with CCBA winner Can I Be Your Dog? This book made me tear up a little at the end as I read the authors note。 I just really don't want the United States Post Office to close down。 There is something I just love about mail。 I always have ever since I was a little girl。 Write a letter to someone you love today。 This book made me tear up a little at the end as I read the authors note。 I just really don't want the United States Post Office to close down。 There is something I just love about mail。 I always have ever since I was a little girl。 Write a letter to someone you love today。 。。。more

The Lost Package is a tribute to letter writing, sending packages, and the Postal Service。 The author, illustrator end notes are a valuable part to better understanding this story。 The book also speaks of honesty and trying to help others (as in delivering the lost package)。 This is a story of serendipity。。。a package is lost and found。 The finder just happens to be moving across country to the place that the package was to be sent。 They deliver the lost package; that's surely a good deed! Richard Ho's ode to the USPS is a nice premise。 Several thousand packages a day get loaded and delivered by trucks and airplanes all across the nation。 Every once in a while, though, something happens and a package gets lost。 This is the story of a box that was lost, but found its way due to the kindness and care of people who noticed。I like the back matter, explaining a little about the USPS and the current crisis of mail delivery, and the watercolor illustrations by Jessica Lanan are lovely。 H Richard Ho's ode to the USPS is a nice premise。 Several thousand packages a day get loaded and delivered by trucks and airplanes all across the nation。 Every once in a while, though, something happens and a package gets lost。 This is the story of a box that was lost, but found its way due to the kindness and care of people who noticed。I like the back matter, explaining a little about the USPS and the current crisis of mail delivery, and the watercolor illustrations by Jessica Lanan are lovely。 However, I was a little confused about the lost package being delivered by someone other than a postal worker。 The motto, "Neither snow nor rain nor heat nor gloom of night。。。" held up in the book - just not by the right service (although I did appreciate this mother and son and their efforts)。 。。。more

Here is a story you can learn about the Postal Service while reading what happens next。 It holds a sad but true event of many packages that never make it to their destination。 Will this story end in disappointment or success?

This was an unexpectedly great, pro-worker, pro-Union job story that I think children will love。 The way in which the package was finally delivered was a lovely surprise, and I also loved seeing the renderings of the inside of post offices!
