Hollywood actress Shauna Jackson left the Greek island of Ithos twenty years ago and thought she would never return。 Reeling from a scandal that has tarnished her success, she is drawn back to the beautiful olive groves and endless azure skies – and to the secrets she has tried hard to forget。

Looking down from his hilltop villa, enigmatic tycoon Demetrios Theodosis knows he can’t change the past, and looks to the future through his tempestuous daughter Ariana, but in trying to tame her free spirit, is he driving her further away?

Set against bleached white houses bounded by a sapphire sea, a yearning for the truth will compel them both to confront their shared past, and take them back to a distant summer that seemed to hold so much promise …

I had no idea who Carol Kirkwood was as I do not watch a great deal of TV。 But if this is her first Novel I do hope she goes on to write more。 I thoroughly enjoyed this wonderful romp through the glamour of old Hollywood , plus the beautiful descriptions of the Greek Islands somewhere I would adore visiting but sadly I don't think my health & funds would ever allow it , so thanks to writers like Carol I am able to travel 。 There is love, passion & greatest of all amazing friendships within this I had no idea who Carol Kirkwood was as I do not watch a great deal of TV。 But if this is her first Novel I do hope she goes on to write more。 I thoroughly enjoyed this wonderful romp through the glamour of old Hollywood , plus the beautiful descriptions of the Greek Islands somewhere I would adore visiting but sadly I don't think my health & funds would ever allow it , so thanks to writers like Carol I am able to travel 。 There is love, passion & greatest of all amazing friendships within this Book 。so I recommend you pick up a copy & read it 。#FB, #Instagram,#Goodreads, #NetGalley,# Amazon。co。uk, #HarperCollins, #, #,#。 。。。more

A great debut novel from Carol Kirkwood。 It has romance, escapism, great characters, a beautiful location and also a bit of scandal。 The book is written in a way that we get to know the individual characters and their background and I like the way their paths all cross at some point。 A great summer read and look forward to more from Carol。

This is such a dreamy and enchanting read! I really enjoyed this first novel by Carol Kirkwood。 Whilst reading the book, I often had this feeling that I could hear the friendly voice of Carol telling this story。 I thought the style and atmosphere of the book were excellent, taking us from Ireland to Greece, Monaco, and Hollywood。 We feel the sun on our head, we taste the retsina and the champagne, we can hear the noise of the sea and the water against the hull of the yacht。 Not all is perfect and there are difficult times in the life of I really enjoyed this first novel by Carol Kirkwood。 Whilst reading the book, I often had this feeling that I could hear the friendly voice of Carol telling this story。 I thought the style and atmosphere of the book were excellent, taking us from Ireland to Greece, Monaco, and Hollywood。 We feel the sun on our head, we taste the retsina and the champagne, we can hear the noise of the sea and the water against the hull of the yacht。 Not all is perfect and there are difficult times in the life of Shauna and Demetrios。 But they overcome it all and along the way we meet many interesting characters - including a brief appearance of Princess Grace。 But I don't want to say more about the story。 Even if you are not going to the sun on holidays this year, this book will take you there。 Thank you Carol for this nice story; looking forward to your next one。 。。。more

A debut Novel by TV presenter, Carol Kirkwood of pure romantic escapism that draws you in with her beautifully descriptive style。 The central character Shauna O’Brien is a typical Irish lass, all red flowing hair and emerald eyes。 Her life takes us through, love, lies, drama, heartbreak and back again。 It is a love story with a difference with heart wrenching moments for Shauna that make the reader truly believe in her character and you find yourself laughing and crying along with her。 I even fo A debut Novel by TV presenter, Carol Kirkwood of pure romantic escapism that draws you in with her beautifully descriptive style。 The central character Shauna O’Brien is a typical Irish lass, all red flowing hair and emerald eyes。 Her life takes us through, love, lies, drama, heartbreak and back again。 It is a love story with a difference with heart wrenching moments for Shauna that make the reader truly believe in her character and you find yourself laughing and crying along with her。 I even found myself telling her off for doing some of the things she does。This is a classic boy meets girl story, a bit formulaic but its a formula that works and Carol Kirkwood’s writing style really brings to life the magical Greek Island, Ithos。 The setting sees Shauna find and lose love。 It shapes her future life that is not with out its heart break。 Shauna is a stoic character that you definitely warm too and you just want the best for her。A wonderfully romantic summer read。 If you enjoy strong characters , a love story and happy endings then this book is certainly for you。 I would highly recommend this debut novel。 It is not my usual genre and I thoroughly enjoyed every drama filled page。Will Shauna’s love for the handsome, wealthy shipping magnet Demetrios ever become what she her heart desires? The story is based around Shauna meeting Dimetrios whilst she is a penniless student and he a rich millionaire。 They fall madly in love and she seems to be the one that can end his playboy ways。 However, Dimetrios' Greek family have other ideas and they are cruelly torn apart。 Whilst life takes them in different directions and they both manage to build a life without the other, their love never goes away and they seem destined to be together。This is a perfect summer read。 Ideally I would have read it on a sun lounger by a Greek pool, but on a comfy sofa with a biscuit was good enough for me! Although there’s the predictability of your typical romcom, there are enough twists and turns to keep your attention and throw a spanner in the works of the inevitable happy ending。 I loved most of the characters (Ariana was a bit of a push to like!), the settings were wonderful (What Ithos is not a real place??! Devastated!!) and the story really flowed。 One thing that bugged me was the many references to 80’s and 90’s celebrities。 I know this was the time it was set in but I just thought that there were too many name drops and it was a little bit overkill。 I also thought the fact that Grace turned out to be their long lost daughter was a little bit farfetched but hey it’s a summer romcom what on earth do I expect!!I have given this book 4 stars as yes it’s a predictable boy meets girl, they split up but eventually reunite and live happily ever after story but it really did bring a smile to my face and I just love the Greek setting。 I hope Carol writes more books as she obviously has a great talent and I hope they are set in Greece! 。。。more

You will have to read this fantastic Debut Novel to find out。Publisher: Harper Collins UKPublish Date: 08 July 2021ISBN : 9780008393403Reviewed by: Niki PrestonFacebook: For The Love of Books@bookwormnjpTwitter: @nikijrpInstagram: @bookwormnjp 。。。more
