This has been my favorite installment in this series so far。 The second Jojo is a better character than the first one。 He is more flawed and more real。 They are still drawn with unrealistic muscles, but I can get over that considering the time when it was originally written。 It still bugs me about the way Araki softens the Nazi party to make you almost sympathetic towards what they were attempting to do, but the real antagonists still are the creators of the stone masks。 This installments introd This has been my favorite installment in this series so far。 The second Jojo is a better character than the first one。 He is more flawed and more real。 They are still drawn with unrealistic muscles, but I can get over that considering the time when it was originally written。 It still bugs me about the way Araki softens the Nazi party to make you almost sympathetic towards what they were attempting to do, but the real antagonists still are the creators of the stone masks。 This installments introduces the most dangerous of the the bad guys so far。 Jojo faces them unsuccessfully once, but is able to escape to train in how to use his hamon ability correctly and eventually defeat these monsters。 The training sessions are some of the most engaging of the ones presented so far, and the new mentor could be one of the better characters created in this series。 At the time the series was originally written, the mentor was ground breaking, especially for Japan, but might be seen a little more cliche in modern times。 Still, it was the most entertaining installment, I have read so far in this series。 。。。more

The evolution this series has gone in just one arc has been striking。 Sure, there was a time jump and there are new characters to reset the slate, but the way in which the overarcing mystery has been detailedly weaved into the setup signals that Hirohiko Araki had more than just a sketch or outline in mind with this series。This generation's JoJo surely isn't to everyone's liking but with the introduction of Caesar Zeppeli, the bloodline of an ally from the previous arc, there is a "balancing" fo The evolution this series has gone in just one arc has been striking。 Sure, there was a time jump and there are new characters to reset the slate, but the way in which the overarcing mystery has been detailedly weaved into the setup signals that Hirohiko Araki had more than just a sketch or outline in mind with this series。This generation's JoJo surely isn't to everyone's liking but with the introduction of Caesar Zeppeli, the bloodline of an ally from the previous arc, there is a "balancing" force to Joseph's chaotic energy - don't get me wrong, Caesar is just as chaotic if not more arrogant, but the mix of their energies really builds into something exciting to watch。 These now-equals and the blossoming bromance is definitely what makes this Battle Tendency arc a notch up over Phantom Blood。And despite the ridiculous OTT posing of Joestar that is now doubled with Zeppeli's presence, I must note how much more intelligent the action and strategies employed we are seeing here is。 Definitely makes for some dynamic illustrations! 。。。more

Even though the "stand users attract stand users" thing didn't come until part 3, I really appreciate that Joseph (view spoiler)[ran into an enemy in the desert to beat out of him where to go next。。。 It's not like Nazi testing facilities are in very accessible, super obvious locations, anime adaptation! The second arc of Jojo is definitely not grabbing me like the first arc did。 Sure, the new antagonists (super-beings awakened from their slumber, searching for a red stone that will grant them even more power) have a lot of crazy powers (the most memorable and squicky being an ability to peel back their own fingernails and shoot prehensile veins from the tips of their fingers)。 The new Jojo is kind of amusing, and I sometimes like his complex strategies。Still, I don't know。 It's not grabbing me。 The second arc of Jojo is definitely not grabbing me like the first arc did。 Sure, the new antagonists (super-beings awakened from their slumber, searching for a red stone that will grant them even more power) have a lot of crazy powers (the most memorable and squicky being an ability to peel back their own fingernails and shoot prehensile veins from the tips of their fingers)。 The new Jojo is kind of amusing, and I sometimes like his complex strategies。Still, I don't know。 It's not grabbing me。 I don't really care about the characters much。 Everyone seems like a stuck-up prick, including the main heroes。 The art is suitably bizarre, but no one seems to have basic anatomy--their bodies always seem to be flopping around in unusual positions in each panel。。。 I guess that is part of the style, but it comes across as sloppy sometimes。 Anyway, not terrible, not great, going to keep reading。 。。。more

Great material, follows the line of the first part of the series and is very worth it。 Well finished and excellent internal quality。 In this second part called Battle Tendency we accompany Joseph Joestar (JoJo) grandson of the protagonist of the first half。 Jojo has just moved to New York City where he finds himself involved with bizarre beings related to his family's past。 Great material, follows the line of the first part of the series and is very worth it。 Well finished and excellent internal quality。 In this second part called Battle Tendency we accompany Joseph Joestar (JoJo) grandson of the protagonist of the first half。 Jojo has just moved to New York City where he finds himself involved with bizarre beings related to his family's past。 。。。more

Did you like the book?I enjoyed it, it had more to show it introduced the main villains it had character growth but there are still 2 more volumes so there's more character development to show and it's better in many ways compared to volume 1。Would you recommend this book to readers?Yes, I would recommend the entire second part but I'm not fully finished but up till now part 2 has been nothing but interesting and is superior to part 1 of this series。 Did you like the book?I enjoyed it, it had more to show it introduced the main villains it had character growth but there are still 2 more volumes so there's more character development to show and it's better in many ways compared to volume 1。Would you recommend this book to readers?Yes, I would recommend the entire second part but I'm not fully finished but up till now part 2 has been nothing but interesting and is superior to part 1 of this series。 。。。more
