Summary

Grown-up Meg, tomboyish Jo, timid Beth, and precocious Amy。 The four March sisters couldn't be more different。 But with their father away at war, and their mother working to support the family, they have to rely on one another。 Whether they're putting on a play, forming a secret society, or celebrating Christmas, there's one thing they can't help wondering: Will Father return home safely?

I tried SO hard to like this book。 What a snooze fest。 Couldn’t stop falling asleep while reading it。 Strongly recommend for folks suffering from insomnia。 Save yourself 18 hours and rent the movie。

A classic novel and definitely a must read。 Personally I found it difficult to start reading but once I got more into it I really enjoyed it。 Set in a much different time than now but nonetheless interesting and exciting。

I spent some time deciding whether to rate this 4* or 5*, but I think my heart knew there could only be one true answer。 this might be a 4。5* read (not sure still), but either way it's definitely rounded up to 5。I read this book for the first time when I was about 12 and demolished it in two days。 not sure how since it took me 13 whole hours to read it this time (spread across almost a whole week), but I think that's just a testament to how many people can enjoy this book。 I've certainly changed I spent some time deciding whether to rate this 4* or 5*, but I think my heart knew there could only be one true answer。 this might be a 4。5* read (not sure still), but either way it's definitely rounded up to 5。I read this book for the first time when I was about 12 and demolished it in two days。 not sure how since it took me 13 whole hours to read it this time (spread across almost a whole week), but I think that's just a testament to how many people can enjoy this book。 I've certainly changed a lot since then, and couldn't remember more than a couple details about the book, but I think I enjoyed it all the same。although the characters can be annoying at times, especially in the first half of the book, I really did love them all by the end of it, especially Jo, Beth and Laurie (same as when I was 12!)。 the characterisation is great, as are the moral lessons。 I have never cried as hard during a book as I did during this (and this happened multiple times, especially in the second half)。all in all, though its age really shows at times, I think it's still timeless and a must-read。 。。。more

Beautiful。 Just perfectly beautiful。I read this book in my native language, Spanish when I was little, and I couldn't putting down。 There are no words to describe it。 I read it again as an adult in english and it is still one of those books that I want to forget so that I can read it again。 Beautiful。 Just perfectly beautiful。I read this book in my native language, Spanish when I was little, and I couldn't putting down。 There are no words to describe it。 I read it again as an adult in english and it is still one of those books that I want to forget so that I can read it again。 。。。more

This novel may get unfairly dismissed as a novel for girls。 I think it’s a wonderful novel for everyone, but adults likely will appreciate its observations most of all。 Really a wonderful book。

3。5 stars 。・:*˚:✧。 This story is so cute and pure and I can’t wait to watch the movie because I think I’m going to like it more than the book。 The reason I rated this quite low is because of how slow this book is at times。 I had to change from physical to audiobook to get though it but I’m glad I pushed through。 This family is a family I will remember forever。 If you are going into this for plot there kinda isn’t one, it just follows the sisters and their life’s as they grow up and challenges th 3。5 stars 。・:*˚:✧。 This story is so cute and pure and I can’t wait to watch the movie because I think I’m going to like it more than the book。 The reason I rated this quite low is because of how slow this book is at times。 I had to change from physical to audiobook to get though it but I’m glad I pushed through。 This family is a family I will remember forever。 If you are going into this for plot there kinda isn’t one, it just follows the sisters and their life’s as they grow up and challenges they face。 It took me a while to get used to the writing style since I’m a bit dumb when it comes to classic language but the audiobook made it a lot easier。 I thought this would be a five star book but unfortunately not。 I definitely think I will love the movie though, I can’t wait。 。。。more

I read this book because I REALLY enjoyed both the musical and movie adaptations of it, but the book itself was sadly just ok。 To be fair, this kind of book usually isn't for me (I like more mystery/ action) so I knew going into it that it was a harder kind of book for me to enjoy。 There wasn't really a resemblance of a story for about 100 pages (a little over 1/3 of the book), and there are a few parts that took up a lot of space but didn't really add anything。 Despite this, it still had great I read this book because I REALLY enjoyed both the musical and movie adaptations of it, but the book itself was sadly just ok。 To be fair, this kind of book usually isn't for me (I like more mystery/ action) so I knew going into it that it was a harder kind of book for me to enjoy。 There wasn't really a resemblance of a story for about 100 pages (a little over 1/3 of the book), and there are a few parts that took up a lot of space but didn't really add anything。 Despite this, it still had great messages with coming of age and family values。 Three stars because I know it would be a great book for a lot of people, but too much of a slow burn story for me。 。。。more

It's a lovely story which often made me laugh or smile, but I struggled to get through it as an adult reader, it just didn't grip me the way I'd hoped。 I can definitely see that I would have loved it as a child。 It's a lovely story which often made me laugh or smile, but I struggled to get through it as an adult reader, it just didn't grip me the way I'd hoped。 I can definitely see that I would have loved it as a child。 。。。more
