Summary

All Marmalade wants to do is build things。

She is, after all, a trained architect。

She's also a distractingly adorable kitten。

Fed up with not being taken seriously because she's so cute, Marmalade bands together with a handful of other aspiring builders--all of them kittens。 But in a world where humans call the shots, can the Kitten Construction Company prove their worth 。 。 。 without giving up the very things that make them kittens?

(Don't worry, dear reader, the answer is definitely yes!)

THIS WAS SO CUTE!!!!

The Book Box

Mom got this from the library because I love cats and construction and IT WAS AMAZING! We both really loved the book, especially when the humans take cell phone pictures of the animals working。

Dutchbaby

Very funny graphic novel for youth that adults will appreciate。

I actually liked A Bridge Too Fur better than this one (the first in the series)。

I liked this book。 It had cute cats and the art was pretty good。 The story was interesting。 It made me want to see what would happen next and I wouldn't mind reading the next book! It's basically about cats who know construction, but because they're adorable cats no humans take them seriously and don't think they can actually build。 SPOILERS AHEAD:The cats then decide to build their design of the mayor's house on a vacant lot to prove they can build great things。 They employed more cats and got I liked this book。 It had cute cats and the art was pretty good。 The story was interesting。 It made me want to see what would happen next and I wouldn't mind reading the next book! Oh this was cute。 The art is excellent, the jokes are very sophisticated。 The five year old pours over it and makes her mother proud。

This adorable story is about cats but there is an underlying message about people being treated unfairly based on appearance。 I laughed out loud a couple times and felt angry at others。 This book is deep for a junior graphic novel, although I suppose each reader will take different things from it based on their age/comprehension level。

A not so subtle commentary on how often women are viewed and treated as inferior in a male-dominated work force。 I liked the graphic novel type picture book but I'm curious to see how it will go over with children and if they will pick up on the message or what they will take away from it。 Interesting story。 A not so subtle commentary on how often women are viewed and treated as inferior in a male-dominated work force。 I liked the graphic novel type picture book but I'm curious to see how it will go over with children and if they will pick up on the message or what they will take away from it。 Interesting story。 。。。more

A super fun tale (pun intended) of proving yourself。

This is super cute and amusing。 While this is definitely targeted at middle grades, my 3 year old loves it! We read it over and over and he pretends to be Marmalade all the time。

No one will hire the kittens for construction even though they are architects, electrical engineers, and plumbers。 The kittens are just too adorable! The illustrations in this tome really are cute。 But the story feels like a very thin allegory for women's equality in the workplace。 Am I reading too much into this innocent, feline book? Judge for yourself。 No one will hire the kittens for construction even though they are architects, electrical engineers, and plumbers。 The kittens are just too adorable! Who doesn't love adorable kittens? But who will believe they can build an awesome house? Very kid friendly, but I read a layer of girl power in there。 Awesome! Who doesn't love adorable kittens? Really enjoyed this volume! Great art, easy to follow story with parallels in the real world, and quite cute! I like that there are aspects for children and adults alike。

So cute and very appealing to a wide range of ages and interests!

This was adorable! My son loved it and immediately begged to start the second one。 A great purchase for any kid who is starting to get into reading by themselves。

I saw this when another library customer put it on hold。 It’s obviously super cute to see kittens do construction but it’s also frustrating how they’re not taken seriously, sort of like actual women in construction。 The kitten’s triumph at the end is bittersweet - their work still isn’t really recognized。 Maybe they will be in a subsequent volume。 Definitely a good book for kids and adults and there’s fun photos of actual kittens in the middle so win win win。

I laughed throughout this first book in the cleverly written graphic novel series。 Sweet, silly, endearing, these kittens rock, despite the purr-fectly addressed bias they encounter。A quick, entertaining read, kids will want to cuddle up with all of the Kitten Construction Company titles! The illustrations are hilarious!

Kat

Cute but ultimately not as good as Catstronauts。

Henry

Adorable (hehe) story about dignity and believing in yourself。

Would they still have such names as Marmalade and Professor von Wigglebottom if they were trained and highly skilled architects and carpenters? I’m thinking no, but ignoring that incongruity, this beginning graphic novel, the first in a series, works well。 P。K。Foster, MLS, elementary school librarianhttps://kissthebookjr。blogspot。com/20。。。 。。。more
