The genius behind the works is incredible。

An unadorned production from Listening Library, with solid narration by Quincy Tyler Bernstine。 Her light voice is perfectly suited to Peter’s delight in exploring the snowy landscape of his neighborhood。 The only drawback here is that the page-turn signals come much too quickly, making it difficult to get the pages turned before the narration begins again。 It’s too bad because it spoils what could be a really solid audio production of a much-loved book。

This book is a simple and sweet story of a winter day; as an adult reading it, it makes me feel quite nostalgic and warm。 I love a story that captures the simple ways children move toward adventure and curiosity。 Adulthood doesn't always remind us of those times。I picked this up because my church's theme last month was "Story" and one of the little small group activities was to look over some lists of classic American stories。 I had never heard of this book or known it's background as one of the This book is a simple and sweet story of a winter day; as an adult reading it, it makes me feel quite nostalgic and warm。 I love a story that captures the simple ways children move toward adventure and curiosity。 Adulthood doesn't always remind us of those times。I picked this up because my church's theme last month was "Story" and one of the little small group activities was to look over some lists of classic American stories。 I had never heard of this book or known it's background as one of the first books to feature a African-American character to win a major award。 I do think it's interesting that this is written by a White author, not necessarily a bad thing, just an observation about who's stories might have been/be less accessible throughout history。 I love this art style, probably because it reminds me of Jacob Lawrence, one of the great painters of the Harlem Renaissance。 [2021 Popsugar Reading Challenge #6 - A book with a gem, mineral, or rock in the title] 。。。more

This was a cute book about a little boy out exploring/playing in the snow。 This book takes few words to explain what is going on。 The boy is discovering new ways to play with the snow。 I love how the main character in the book is African American。 Peter in this story was the first African American main character to be represented in a children's picture book。 I thought this was so fascinating。 This was a cute book about a little boy out exploring/playing in the snow。 This book takes few words to explain what is going on。 The boy is discovering new ways to play with the snow。 I love how the main character in the book is African American。 Peter in this story was the first African American main character to be represented in a children's picture book。 I thought this was so fascinating。 。。。more

The first time I read this book was about 6 months ago。 I was a charge of a small reading group and this was one of the books we studied and did activities with for a week。 Definitely recommend reading it and looking ta the Erza Jack Keats website。 Peter wakes up and looks out the window to the seasons first snowfall。 He quickly get his bright red snowsuit on and runs outside。 He notices that his feet leave footprints and trails in the deep white snow。 Peter finds out that he is to young to play The first time I read this book was about 6 months ago。 I was a charge of a small reading group and this was one of the books we studied and did activities with for a week。 Definitely recommend reading it and looking ta the Erza Jack Keats website。 Peter wakes up and looks out the window to the seasons first snowfall。 He quickly get his bright red snowsuit on and runs outside。 He notices that his feet leave footprints and trails in the deep white snow。 Peter finds out that he is to young to play with the older kids in a snowball fights, so he makes a snowman and snow angles。 He then decides to shove some snow into his pockets for later。 He gets home and realizes that his pockets are empty。。 the snow melted。 His mom gives him a hot bath and explains that he cant do that。 Such a cute and simplistic story。 。。。more

Another book where the main character is Peter。 Who knew Peter was such a popular name in literature。 I really liked this book, it is very simple。 It was cute to see how much fun little Peter has in the snow。

This book is about a boy named Peter who is about to experience his first snow fall。 This book is relatively good because the majority of children’s books don’t have African American main characters but in this one it does。 It takes you on his experience of fresh snowfall in Brooklyn New York。

The Snowy Day is a children's picture book from 1962。 It won the Caldecott Medal and is considered a classic。 The age group interest level is Pre-K to 3rd grade, but the reading level is 1st grade - 3rd grade。 The book is very calming to read, and it features the character, Peter。 Peter walks around his neighborhood after a snowfall and explores。 I believe this book deserves 5 out of 5 stars because it is visually simple in a way that is captivating。 The illustrations aren't terribly complex, so The Snowy Day is a children's picture book from 1962。 It won the Caldecott Medal and is considered a classic。 The age group interest level is Pre-K to 3rd grade, but the reading level is 1st grade - 3rd grade。 The book is very calming to read, and it features the character, Peter。 Peter walks around his neighborhood after a snowfall and explores。 I believe this book deserves 5 out of 5 stars because it is visually simple in a way that is captivating。 The illustrations aren't terribly complex, so you can really just focus on where the book takes you。 The author focuses on life's little pleasures, which encourages the readers to do the same。 Whenever I read this book with kids, I feel myself going back to when I was little and playing outside。 I think anyone who reads this book can understand why it's an early education classroom classic。 I love to read this book to the preschoolers during the winter months and have them pitch ideas of what they like to do when it snows。 。。。more

Keats, Ezra Jack。 The Snowy Day。 Keats gave a great description of the book with the title and cover。 A small African American boy in a bright red suit showing enjoyment of the snow all alone。 This book follows Peter's day in the snow starting off with him in bed looking out the window。 The narrator allows the reader to visualize how they felt when they use to look out the window when they wake up in the morning with his well-drawn setting。 Placing Peter in a bright red suit made him memorable Keats, Ezra Jack。 The Snowy Day。 Keats gave a great description of the book with the title and cover。 A small African American boy in a bright red suit showing enjoyment of the snow all alone。 This book follows Peter's day in the snow starting off with him in bed looking out the window。 The narrator allows the reader to visualize how they felt when they use to look out the window when they wake up in the morning with his well-drawn setting。 Placing Peter in a bright red suit made him memorable therefore an interesting character。 Peter was a static character his personality stayed the same in this book。 Peter was determined to have fun resourceful finding enjoyment of the snow in the city。 Keats' traditional textured collage illustrations allowed readers to see what Peter does in the snow with action。 Peter expressed emotion in the story showing how excited he was about the snow。 Keats used a sentimental tone in this picture book。 This book accurately evokes African American Children in the city and is easy to relate to。 Reading this book in the winter season and having scholars remember their fun time in the snow。 Allowing them to visualize and write a story and or draw a picture of their special time in the snow。 Depending on grade focusing on illustrations and or writing prompts。 I have loved this book for years and now enjoy sharing it with my scholars。 。。。more

The Snowy Day is a delightful award winning picture book about one little boy's adventures playing and exploring in the snow。 Peter is innocent and so are his adventures。 The illustrations are very colorful with blocks of color almost like paper cut-outs。 It is a perfect bedtime book, with a quiet pace and a gentle feeling。 The Snowy Day is a delightful award winning picture book about one little boy's adventures playing and exploring in the snow。 Peter is innocent and so are his adventures。 The illustrations are very colorful with blocks of color almost like paper cut-outs。 It is a perfect bedtime book, with a quiet pace and a gentle feeling。 。。。more

This contemporary realistic picture book is about a little boy who plays outside after the first snow of the season。 He wears a bright red snow suit while outside。 He doesn't join the snowball fight with the older kids because he gets knocked down by one。 He makes a snowman, snow angels and, leaves many footprints creating trails instead。 He pretends he's a mountain climber and slides down the hills。 He does the same thing the next day after dreaming it had all melted but infact it had snowed ev This contemporary realistic picture book is about a little boy who plays outside after the first snow of the season。 He wears a bright red snow suit while outside。 He doesn't join the snowball fight with the older kids because he gets knocked down by one。 He makes a snowman, snow angels and, leaves many footprints creating trails instead。 He pretends he's a mountain climber and slides down the hills。 He does the same thing the next day after dreaming it had all melted but infact it had snowed even more。 I likes reading this story。 It is a simple book for young children。 I recommend this for children 3-5 who also enjoy playing outside in the snow。 This is also a good book for kids just learnig t0 read。 This book does not show much diversity。 。。。more

This review has been hidden because it contains spoilers。 To view it, click here。 This story was about a kid that loved the snow。 He went out all day and had so much fun。 When he went home he got all warmed up and slept good。 The next day he called his friend to go play in the snow with him。 The illustrator kept the pictures consistent though the story。 The medium was made of bright colors and layers patterns。 The words were simple and very descriptive。 This book is great to read to children and let them start reading。

Although the story can be considered as simple, in its simplicity of packs a huge punch。 It allows adults to relive the wonders that children go through when discovering something new。I really enjoyed the illustrations although minimal I think they were a perfect match for the story。
