Summary

The tale is told as if it's happening once upon a dream: the lovely maiden meets her handsome prince in the woods。 The story has been told many times and in many ways。 But always the maiden finds out that she is a princess-a princess who has been cursed by a dark fairy to prick her finger on a spindle and fall into an eternal sleep。 Though her three good fairies try to protect her, the princess succumbs to the curse。 But the power of good endures, as her true love defeats the fire-breathing dragon and awakens the princess with true love's first kiss。 The two live happily ever after。

And yet this is only half the story。 So what of the dark fairy, Maleficent? Why does she curse the innocent princess? What led to her becoming so filled with malice, anger, and hatred? Many tales have tried to explain her motives。 Here is one account, pulled down from the many passed down through the ages。 It is a tale of love and betrayal, of magic and reveries。 It is a tale of the Mistress of All Evil。

Me gustan los giros o intentos de complementar las historias de disney pero este estuvo muy bizarro, muy sacado de la manga 🤔

It’s their books and they aren’t even the main characters in their own stories! The Maleficent story in this, without the other characters as stated above, was REALLY interesting and I would have loved to have seen that from her perspective instead of constantly getting fragments of it through clunky speech and sometimes a short chapter or two。 。。。more

This is the first novel in the series that I really enjoyed compared to the previous 3 hopefully the following sequels will be as good。 I really got invested in some parts through out the story and loved all the unexpected moments that were just thrown into the story。 Can't wait to move on to the next story of Mother Gothel! Cada vez me gustan mas。 Pensé que había cometido un error al comenzar a leer esta serie pero me alegra estar equivocada, son perfectos, y una versión de los villanos que hasta ahora solo me ah hecho amar mas a mis villanos favoritos。

I will also do a video review here at my channel: http://www。youtube。com/magicofbooks"Mistress of All Evil" by Serena Valentino is book four in the "Villains" series, focusing on the origin story of Maleficent。 It's reaching the point that I am at a loss for words with this series。 It's not that the books are necessarily bad, it's that they aren't focused on what I want them to focus on。 So I guess that's my problem, because there's plenty of reviews from people who love this series and I just d I will also do a video review here at my channel: http://www。youtube。com/magicofbooks"Mistress of All Evil" by Serena Valentino is book four in the "Villains" series, focusing on the origin story of Maleficent。 It's reaching the point that I am at a loss for words with this series。 It's not that the books are necessarily bad, it's that they aren't focused on what I want them to focus on。 So I guess that's my problem, because there's plenty of reviews from people who love this series and I just don't get it。 Book 1, "Fairest of All" was easily the best book in this series, doing exactly what I wanted it to do。 It was an origin story for the Evil Queen and what drove her to try and kill Snow White。 Book 2, "The Beast Within," though I had some major issues with it, it was still an origin story to the Beast and how he got cursed。 Book 3, "Poor Unfortunate Soul" was where this series drove off the deep end and continued to do so with "Mistress of All Evil。" Though book 3 was supposed to be an origin for Ursula, she was barely in it。 Even in book 4, Maleficent is not in it as much as I would assume she would be (though she is certainly given way more of an origin than Ursula was given, jeez)。 What is with Serena Valentino's obsession with the abundance of original characters? This series has pretty much turned into a excuse for her to throw her in own original characters and how they interact with the Disney characters。 Characters like the Odd Sisters, Nanny, Tulip, and Circe have way more huge, pivotal roles in this series than the Disney villains do。 And I just don't get it。 Like I said at the top of this review, I'm kind of at a loss for words with this series。 All I wanted this series to be was standalone books about the origins of our favorite Disney villains。 Instead it's turned into an epic saga where you have to have read every book in order to understand what's going on。 I don't even think Serena Valentino originally intended for these books to connect initially because in this book I feel like she started retconning plot and character points to fit this narrative。 So what you get is a story full of a lot of characters explaining things that are convoluted and confusing。 There's so many random twists and turns going on in this book that I started rolling my eyes。So why do I continue torturing myself by reading these books, you may be asking。 Well, the first simple answer is because I already own them all and might as well read them。 They are very short and easy to read。 Plus, I'm a sucker for the cover design with the villain on the outside and under the flap is their more monstrous form。 And I know that I've pretty much been bitching about them, but it's reached the point that I'm weirdly interested to see where this ridiculous drama goes。 It's like bad TV or something that's a guilty pleasure that it's so bad that it's actually good and you are obsessed to finish it。 That's what this series has turned into for me。"Mother Knows Best" is next in this series, being the origin for Mother Gothel from "Tangled。" How is that going to be butchered? These books really had a lot of potential for me personally, but they aren't what I want them to be, which might be my problem。 Like I said, I just wanted standalone origins。 Simple。 To the point。 I wasn't looking for some interconnected world building full of original characters who have more page time than the actual Disney villains。 。。。more

Maleficent, The Dark Fairy, Dragon Fairy, Mistress of All Evil, was not always pure evil and vengeance。 Where did she come from? Who raised her? Her story is a haunting tale of becoming who you really are even if it destroys you。

Loved the back story of Maleficent added into this book along with the Odd Sisters continued interference into fairy land and more back story added for nanny as well。 Again an audible book listened to while doing DoorDash to pass the time and well worth the listen!! These books are very imaginative while weaving in the familiar pieces of beloved fairy tales。

I forgot about this book and another so I ended up just finishing it this year。

Now THIS is what I was looking for!!! It was a perfect blend of Maleficent’s backstory, the movies events, and the things happening currently; and it was almost all from Maleficent’s POV!The book starts off with Maleficent leading Aurora to the spinning wheel, and her thoughts as the 3 good fairies come too late。 It then shifts to multiple different circumstances that lead to her telling her story。 The story itself was only told in her dialogue once, which I greatly appreciated。I loved how much Now THIS is what I was looking for!!! Which was actually a good thing, because it made me take Maleficent’s side even more。There was a side-storyline, but it almost all revolved around Maleficent and revealed more about Nanny, which I didn’t mind at all, and also a weird storybook that I thought was purely interesting。 There were some things said about trying to wake up the Odd Sisters, but it wasn’t much。Speaking of the Odd Sisters, they were involved in Maleficent’s story, but they didn’t do much—merely visited her before her fairy exams and helped her not be lonely when she was older。 They did essentially make her evil, but it was so subtle that I didn’t mind。And the reasoning given for Maleficent’s cursing of Aurora, for her being mad about not being invited to the party, for her determination to keep Aurora asleep—it made SO much sense!! Serena Valentino, I applaud you! It also explained some things about Circe at the end, which I thought was cool。The end itself was perfection。 It started off with the Odd Sisters watching through a mirror in their dreamscape, but it wasn’t all from their POV。 They did this spell so they could connect with Maleficent and her thoughts, so it actually showed what Maleficent was thinking and feeling during her final fight with Phillip。(Serena Valentino’s writing has also gotten so much better, and this is probably why this book is my new favorite in the series。)Overall, this is EXACTLY what I hoped it would be!! I am hoping and praying that the Mother Gothel book does not disappoint in the wake of this beauty, since it is about the same length! 。。。more

Do sada najbolja i najdramatičnija (toliko drame <3) iz serijala! Pretendovala je da bude čista petica, ali Valentinova je (opet) zbrzala kraj i nije rasplela dovoljno konce koje je sve vreme smelo plela。

This is clearly my favourite so far! So much backstory for pretty much all recurring characters。 I really loved the background for Nanny (I was so waiting for that), and I even enjoyed the story of the Odd Sisters (and it became a lot more clear why they annoyed me so much。 The story of Maleficent was really great, heartbreaking, and it was the first time I felt genuinely sorry for the villain whose tale was told。 More like this please!

Mistress of All Evil is the worst in the Villains series I have read。 There were too many plot lines, so at times the book was confusing and leaped around between them a lot。 I did enjoy the passages about Maleficent's childhood but that was it。 Disappointing read! okay so pro tip when reading this series: don’t wait 6 months in between reading them LOL I spent half of the time being so confused and trying to remember everything about the characters in the previous novels that I was impatient to get to the endwell well well。 I absolutely adore this version of mali and everything that she brought to the table。 while I wish that things ended differently (even though I knew villains don’t get a happy ending), I loved how it intertwined her fairy story with ot okay so pro tip when reading this series: don’t wait 6 months in between reading them LOL I spent half of the time being so confused and trying to remember everything about the characters in the previous novels that I was impatient to get to the endwell well well。 I absolutely adore this version of mali and everything that she brought to the table。 while I wish that things ended differently (even though I knew villains don’t get a happy ending), I loved how it intertwined her fairy story with other fairies from other disney stories。 it really makes me wonder how many of these disney publishing plans on writing lmao。 either way, other than being confused at times but that was my own fault, I absolutely loved everything about this one & I hope that I continue to love this series as I go!!4/5 stars :’) 。。。more

Had no clue it was a series of books for Disney Villains which is cool, but the only Disney Villain I like fully is Maleficent。 Very confused when reading this because there is a lot of talk about Ursula and the evil queen (which it's cool the author intertwined everyone within the same universe) just kind of wanted more about Maleficent。 This is not a book you can read as a stand alone, you need to buy the whole series to get the jist of it all。 Had no clue it was a series of books for Disney Villains which is cool, but the only Disney Villain I like fully is Maleficent。 Very confused when reading this because there is a lot of talk about Ursula and the evil queen (which it's cool the author intertwined everyone within the same universe) just kind of wanted more about Maleficent。 This is not a book you can read as a stand alone, you need to buy the whole series to get the jist of it all。 。。。more

Ok sooooo this series is starting to annoy me。 The books always end on some sort of cliff hanger i never feel as if the villans story has actually ended。 I dont know what to think of this series anymore they all confuse me now! I liked maleficents character development and thught it was interesting but agsin nothing new i thought that about all the books。 It is gertting a bit repetitive but im willing to push on through。 Thoughts on the series so far?

I really enjoyed reading Maleficents story! Even though everyone knows how her story ends, I was hoping for a happy end。 Definitely one of the best Disney Villains!
