Summary

The ultimate millennial money guide, from the creator of Australia’s #1 finance podcast。

Through her phenomenally popular and award-winning podcast, She’s on the Money, Victoria Devine has built an empowered and supportive community of women finding their way to financial freedom。

Honest, relatable, non-judgemental and motivating, Victoria is a financial adviser who knows what millennial life is really like and where we can get stuck with money stuff。 (Did someone say ‘Afterpay’…?) So, to help you hit your money goals without skimping on brunch, she’s put all her expert advice into this accessible guide that will set you up for a healthy and happy future。

Learn how to be more secure, independent and informed with your money – with clear steps on how to budget, clear debts, build savings, start investing, buy property and much more。 And along with all the practical information, Victoria will guide you through the sometimes-tricky psychology surrounding money so you can establish the values, habits and confidence that will help you build your wealth long-term。

Just like the podcast, the book is full of real-life money stories from members of the She’s on the Money community who candidly share their experiences, wins and lessons learned to inspire others to turn their stories around, too。 And with templates and activities throughout, plus a twelve-month plan to get you started, you can immediately put Victoria’s recommendations into action in your own life。

You are not alone on your financial journey, and with the money principles in this book you’ll go further than you ever thought possible。

Lots of interesting information here, to learn from。 Wish l had read this book when in my twenties。

Really excellent practical introduction to sorting out your life finance wise。 So much less prescriptive and condescending than The Barefoot Investor (who has ever been able to call a bank in the evening?)。 If you've listened to the podcast there won't be a lot of new info, but I found it really helpful to have it all written out and I know I'll refer back to this book and reccomend it to friends wanting to get on top of their finances。 Really excellent practical introduction to sorting out your life finance wise。 So much less prescriptive and condescending than The Barefoot Investor (who has ever been able to call a bank in the evening?)。 If you've listened to the podcast there won't be a lot of new info, but I found it really helpful to have it all written out and I know I'll refer back to this book and reccomend it to friends wanting to get on top of their finances。 。。。more

A great book。 I liked that it touched on your money mindset and relationship with money as well as cash flow, savings, debt, taxes, etc。 Personally it wasn't 100% relevant to me as a New Zealander, but I'm sure it would be to many Australians! Also, Victoria intentionally leaves out recommending percentages when it comes to budgeting your cash flow, and while I understand the reasoning, I still thought this would've been helpful to many people - even if recommended as an approximate guide。 I thi A great book。 I liked that it touched on your money mindset and relationship with money as well as cash flow, savings, debt, taxes, etc。 Personally it wasn't 100% relevant to me as a New Zealander, but I'm sure it would be to many Australians! I don’t think this book is like the Barefoot Investor at all。First of all, Victoria doesn’t recommend date nights, clearly not something Scott Pape would agree with!Secondly, if you’re writing a book about general finance, you’re going to run into some common themes to the Barefoot Investor, so it’s a cheap shot to say that this is a copied version。 While I think Barefoot goes a little more in depth to some things (e。g。 how to read super PDSs), Victoria has written a great generalised how-to gui I don’t think this book is like the Barefoot Investor at all。First of all, Victoria doesn’t recommend date nights, clearly not something Scott Pape would agree with!Secondly, if you’re writing a book about general finance, you’re going to run into some common themes to the Barefoot Investor, so it’s a cheap shot to say that this is a copied version。 While I think Barefoot goes a little more in depth to some things (e。g。 how to read super PDSs), Victoria has written a great generalised how-to guide。Thirdly, I think her psych undertones are a different vibe from Barefoot too, and it’s very empowering for her to put some things in your hands rather than straight up tell you what to do。 She helps you understand your ‘money personality’ and values a little more。Lastly, the readability of this text is just awesome (particularly as a female!), coming from one who has already read Barefoot multiple times and listened to enough of the podcast to grasp most of the concepts prior to reading the book, it was still enjoyable! There is always something new to learn。 。。。more

Worth the $32 as I did take a couple of things away from it but unfortunately it fell short of expectations。 Much preferred barefoot。 This may be better for younger audiences。 If I had read this 10 years ago I may have enjoyed it more。

I don’t normally write reviews but this was the most enjoyable book I’ve read so far this year。Yes, it is very similar to the barefoot investor。 There’s no denying that。 I feel it goes into much more detail though, and is a bit of a step up。 The “investing 101” chapter was my favourite。If you’ve read the barefoot investor, love it, and enjoy the simplicity then stick with that。 If you’re looking for a bit more detail on the topics, this might be a good book to consider。It also has some differenc I don’t normally write reviews but this was the most enjoyable book I’ve read so far this year。Yes, it is very similar to the barefoot investor。 There’s no denying that。 I feel it goes into much more detail though, and is a bit of a step up。 The “investing 101” chapter was my favourite。If you’ve read the barefoot investor, love it, and enjoy the simplicity then stick with that。 If you’re looking for a bit more detail on the topics, this might be a good book to consider。It also has some differences, being aimed at a younger generation it’s less “you must buy a house, get married, have kids, combine finances” and more about empowering you to make financial decisions that reflect your personal values。 I’ve been recommending it to everyone I know! 。。。more

I really want to preface this by saying that this book is most definitely for someone who is just starting their journey to financial literacy。 I’m a long time listener of the podcast and I’d say that this is a consolidated effort of those episodes。 With the newbie in mind - this book is perfect in that the concepts, content and language is super friendly。 Victoria connects well with the millennial audience by being relatable and not imposing any unrealistic views or standards that feel out of r I really want to preface this by saying that this book is most definitely for someone who is just starting their journey to financial literacy。 I’m a long time listener of the podcast and I’d say that this is a consolidated effort of those episodes。 With the newbie in mind - this book is perfect in that the concepts, content and language is super friendly。 Victoria connects well with the millennial audience by being relatable and not imposing any unrealistic views or standards that feel out of reach。 I found it hard to connect with other financial texts like the barefoot investor, and Mary Holm’s ‘rich enough’。 I can see how some readers may have found this read underwhelming but I think it’s important to keep in mind that this is specifically intended to be accessible。 I enjoyed it and would recommend to someone who is starting out :) 。。。more

I liked this book。 It was easy to read and had lots of good information。 I felt like it was quite subjective on some parts and I would have wished it would be a bit more neutral。 Overall I enjoyed reading it。

This book is jam packed with general information on all the "need to know" financial information any millennial needs to know。 If you are brand new to finance and need to get your bearings it's a good book for that。 Victoria is a lovely lady and wants the best for her readers and podcast listeners。 Though, you would get much more useful action-oriented information from her podcast than this book。 It feels rushed through production and is mostly general information for each topic。 If you need hel This book is jam packed with general information on all the "need to know" financial information any millennial needs to know。 If you are brand new to finance and need to get your bearings it's a good book for that。 Victoria is a lovely lady and wants the best for her readers and podcast listeners。 Though, you would get much more useful action-oriented information from her podcast than this book。 It feels rushed through production and is mostly general information for each topic。 If you need help getting things sorted for yourself and an actual action plan with step by step help that's easy to understand the Barefoot Investor is a better option for similar price。 If I had to pick between the two for reccomending to someone I would say Barefoot。 Victoria has provided valuable information here, but a lot of the action you'd need to take afterwards you'd be left to figure out on your own, or possibly be promoted to buy her $300+ master-class。 As other books, like Barefoot, give you all the steps and info you need to set your self up financially from just reading the book。 It's a well written book with informative chapters, just missed the mark a bit on being helpful to someone who needs to make financial changes。 。。。more

Terrible。 Really disappointing。 Just another way for Victoria to make money off vulnerable people with super basic, condescending 'advice'。 Terrible。 Really disappointing。 Just another way for Victoria to make money off vulnerable people with super basic, condescending 'advice'。 。。。more

I’m not sure what people are talking about, I found the bare foot investor not applicable to me (maybe because I’m in my early 20s) but this book was so helpful! I particularly loved the activities throughout, and the fact that you get a full plan on what to do。

Amy

I found the first half of the book reads very much like a summary of The Barefoot Investor which I was really disappointed with。 The second half was easy to understand and had some really good information but overall I was expecting a more in-depth dive into finance to further compliment Victoria’s podcast, not just regurgitate it。 I didn’t hate it, but I also didn’t love it。

Highly recommend! This book is essential for any one who feels unsure about how they manage money, or just wants some reassurance that they're on the right track。 As someone who never knew where to start with managing money beyond the simple stuff, like pay bills and save, I truly valued the honesty and tools this book gives its readers。 It is a relatable and easy to understand guide on all the tools you need to start a financial journey。 There are obviously other books on the market with simila Highly recommend! To me this book is the starting point, not the end point。 。。。more

Absolutely loved this book! I’ve been a fan of the podcast since it started。 Listening to the audio book was just like the podcast, definitely recommend! The content of the book was great and despite listening to the podcast and reading other finance books I still learnt lots of new thingsI also found the workbook really great!

Nothing new here。 Just rehashed and over hyped。

This is like the Barefoot Investor for girls。 Content and approach very similar, with added references to baby making and your Vogue subscription。 There is NOTHING critical or anti capitalist about this publication。 Absolutely supports the status quo。

Alessandra Schladetsch

Really disappointed that this book reads like a poor knock off of the Barefoot Investor。 Not worth the read or money。
