I’m definitely not the target audience for this one。 We borrowed the audio book from the library for a 12 hour drive。 Bad writing。 Bad reading。 I’m thinking about buying a copy just so I can burn it。

Overall I did enjoy reading this book， it was just a bit too long and Magnus had so many similarities to Percy Jackson。 It didn’t feel original， but Rick could keep writing the same story over and over and I’d still read it。 And he does， and I do。

The starting disappointed me， RICK RIORDAN ！！！！ The way to start a book is by dieing？ I mean sure you killed Jason grace but WHAT IS THIS！！！！The plot is great as usual but I highly appreciate some personality differences between characters， between magnus and percy？ They are just son of Frey and posiedon but their personalities are same。Sorry Rick but my final rating is 3。5

Bit of a slow start for me， but other than that this novel was incredible。 Brand new main and side characters that Rick makes instantly into fan-favorites， great representation and intense side stories and fight scenes。 Could hardly put it down and can’t wait to read the next in the series！

Riordan takes on Norse Mythology in this book the first of a new series。 Magnus Chase is the son of Frey and a human who must complete a quest to prevent ragnorak from happening。 Along the way he meets a friend， Sam， who helps him as well as a two dwarves。 They go in and out of the nine world of Norse Mythology。 Wonderful introduction to Norse Mythology。 I also appreciated that one of the main characters was deaf。 Their deafness was not a focus， just part of who they were as a character， yet the Riordan takes on Norse Mythology in this book the first of a new series。 Magnus Chase is the son of Frey and a human who must complete a quest to prevent ragnorak from happening。 Along the way he meets a friend， Sam， who helps him as well as a two dwarves。 They go in and out of the nine world of Norse Mythology。 Wonderful introduction to Norse Mythology。 I also appreciated that one of the main characters was deaf。 Their deafness was not a focus， just part of who they were as a character， yet they still contribute greatly to the success of the team。 。。。more
